Thank you for your kind words. After Another Life closed in 1984 I continued to work as a producer and on camera talent until about 2001. At that point my husband and I decided to make a change. We had adopted three children from Ukraine and decided we needed to do more. We set up a charity HEART FOR ORPHANS. To clarify what we do: we have family-style foster homes for orphaned teens and also homes for younger children. Our homes are all in Ukraine, Belarus, Romania and Kenya. These are children who are not adoptable but it gives them an opportunity to understand what it’s like to live in a healthy family (Most have only lived in large orphanages).
Several hundred kids have lived in our homes through the years and the whole trajectory of their lives has changed! Many have gone on to work in orphan ministry around the world.
We also have discipleship programs in the government run orphanages.
We’ve been going now for 21 years. Since the war, we’ve had to evacuate our Ukrainian family groups. And as you pointed out, we also send humanitarian aid. We work closely with the nationals. But our main program is the homes for children.
Thanks for keeping the candles burning for Another Life! It was a fun time for many of us!! I have fond memories!
