Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I figured she was a good person when it came out that she took care of her idiot ex husband's children for quite awhile. I guess she couldn't keep it up because they had some serious problems to the surprise of no one. I hope they are doing well and have received appropriate help. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2487972/Denise-Richards-custody-Charlie-Sheens-violent-twins.html

Some good old witness tampering by a member of Congress. Good times! https://twitter.com/NickKristof/status/1100534231938330624

An article about the rampant sexual abuse of children in U.S. custody. My God. Sometimes this world just seems so bleak. https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/26/politics/hhs-documents-minors-sexual-abuse/index.html

^ I admit, I'd never considered how traumatizing that job could be for people. It makes sense, but I just never thought about it. Partially because I never see violent content on Facebook. I've always thought of the extreme violence and unedited war footage as the province of twitter. Add to it the brainwashing and it's an unholy mess.

This article makes some interesting points. I wish I were more surprised, but money talks and Americans tend to be unrealistic when it comes to their ability to move up the social strata. As a whole, Hispanic-Americans are becoming politically more and more like non-Hispanic white Americans. Two-thirds of the Hispanic electorate is now American-born, and Hispanic voters are far more likely to approve of Trump than naturalized immigrants, according to Pew Research Center data.

I admire Feinstein for being honest with these children. It's clear to me that the world has to radically change, but that we can't and won't do it for a myriad of reasons. https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/22/politics/feinstein-video-sunrise-movement-kids/index.html

So we're on the verge of de-funding Planned Parenthood. I swear we go backward by the day. I imagine this is the kind of thing it's very difficult to reverse even if we manage to elect a better leader. https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/22/health/title-x-final-rule/index.html

^ Wow. I've always given CNN the benefit of the doubt, but this proves what so many here have said. That network is a sellout for ratings.- The Politics Thread
That would be a classic for the ages. If someone told me even four years ago that I would be rooting for something like this to happen to an American President, I would not have believed it. I always thought democracy demanded loyal opposition.- The Politics Thread
I admire your continued optimism. I've known so many people far more unhealthy (rural NY in the 80's/90's) that lived in to their 80's that I can't share it. Sure he's obese, but look around you any given day in America and he's not comparatively large, he doesn't smoke and he doesn't drink. He also has the best medical staff and facilities moments away from him, while in upstate NY people are an hour from mediocre care at best. Maybe we can hope that the rumors are true and he does coke, which weakens the heart. Maybe he really does have dementia, but I'm pretty sure he's just stupid or it's early stage. Maybe we'll just get lucky, but to quote Takeshi Kovacs, luck isn't a word I'd associate with myself. And yeah, I went in to morbid detail in this post, but I've spent a good deal of time fantasizing about this topic.- The Politics Thread

😡 What a stupid waste of money. I can't even tell you how much this pisses me off. On a different front I find this news worrying. Apparently people are spending on average $36,000 on a new car. I understand that the larger economy is more at fault than individuals, but that is an insane amount of money to spend on a depreciating asset unless you are rolling in $. We need to give our students better financial educations in high school.- The Politics Thread
The sheer temerity given that Trump jump started all the hate that's flying around these days with his little winks to the white supremacists. Remember his ads that had Hillary surrounded with the star of David and dollar signs? 😂 Can you imagine the reaction if Obama did this. It's funny and yet disgusting. He is a complete waste of space.- The Politics Thread
I hope we keep our fingers out of the pie this time. Let the UN or Canada or anyone else take the lead.- The Politics Thread
That was an interesting article. I feel bad for people because they seem not to understand how dangerous and addictive it is. At the same time if I were living in NK I might be doing the same even if I did know.- The Politics Thread
And this is something that will be a lasting legacy of Trump's. Now these folks realize that if they can stand the shame they can stay. Classic Ayn Rand "who will stop me"? I'm not saying this particular guy should resign. That's up to Virginians, but you can see the trend will continue. What I wish would happen is Fairfax resigns, Northam picks a new LG and then resigns himself. Not sure that is possible, but if it is it seems like one way to go. - The Politics Thread
