HBO: Game of Thrones
I forgot to say, I wish The Mountain had put a sword right through Pycelle last night. I'm not sure why I'm rooting for Jaime and Cersei to get their revenge in this situation, but I am.

HBO: Game of Thrones
All of Ned's children come before Jon, even if after tonight we thought there was any chance at all that Jon really is Ned's. It seemed clear to me that Rheagar left The Sword of the Morning at the Tower of Joy to protect Lyanna, while she gave birth to his child. That child is almost certainly Jon. One way or the other Jon is heir to the Iron Throne, imo. Maybe Rheagar legitimized him before dying or maybe he actually took Lyanna as his second wife. I did think it was odd that TSOTM wouldn't let Ned in, but maybe he thought he would kill Lyanna for breaking her betrothal, or maybe he was just following orders. One thinkg I've realized is that reading the books over the course of years gave me time to process all of the violence. Now that it's happening in such short order it feels overwhelming at times. Maybe GRRM is about to strike again, but I do believe Rickon will be spared. No way I believe the north are willingly choosing that madman as their leader.

I kind of suspect the Umber's are in league with Jon. He probably sent them a raven and this is the only way they could get their army close to Winterfell without raising suspicions. I figure Jon needs more than the Wildlings to take Winterfell from Ramsey. If not, that's one hell of a coincidence in terms of Umber deciding to give in to Ramsey just as Jon is ready to fight. I may be wrong, but it's hard to imagine they are dumb enough to get involved with a kinslayer. How could you ever trust someone who killed their own father for power? Sure, they had a wolfhead, but we can't be sure it was Shaggy.

I can't believe there are more than six months left in this campaign. I imagine it's only going to get uglier. Hopefully Bill Clinton can keep his cool when Trump comes for Hillary.

I hope to never hear him speak again. That cross between a televangelist and a carnie trying to sell the rubes was revolting.

This is an interesting article about the violence in GoT. I don't entirely agree, but I do agree that I didn't need those scenes with Walda and her baby. We get it, Ramsey's an insane sadist. I would have much rather had him poison her before she ever gave birth. The bad part is I didn't even feel much at her death. It was telegraphed the second Roose married her. My main thought during those scenes were relief that the soundtrack didn't include a baby screaming. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/act-four/wp/2016/05/03/how-much-violence-is-too-much-on-game-of-thrones/?tid=sm_tw

The scenes with Bran at Winterfell were wonderful. So nice to see everyone happy and a glance at Lyanna, which I found touching. The woman is a child of the forest. They saved Bran on the way to the tree. I feel bad for Tommen. I hope Cersei was telling Cat the truth about the black haired baby she bore Robert or Tommen seems doomed. I can't believe Roose was so stupid. He should have had the maester privately tell him the baby's sex and then kill Ramsey when it was a boy. He knew what Ramsey was. I continue to love Ser Davos. Did he ever find out what happened to Shereen?I feel like her death deserved his acknowledgment. So we all knew Jon was coming back. For the last two episodes I've been praying they wouldn't end the episode with Jon taking a deep breath and startling awake. Please show don't do it, it's beyond predictable. They did it. Of course they did. Tyrion has to be a Targaryon doesn't he? Obviously not a spoiler, since we are ahead of the books, but I think maybe all three of the Lanister children are the mad Kings bastards. Isn't that that ultimatum eff you to Robert. He hated them so much and ended up married to one and raising their children as his heirs. Tyrion isn't immune to fire, but I think he has dragon blood. I'm thinking Jon is going to Winterfell very soon to take Ramsey's head. If the God's are good Ghost will take it.

I'm not surprised Boehner feels that way, but I am a little surprised he said it. I mean to actually call someone Lucifer in the flesh.

^ Interesting. So maybe Eugene is the one who dies after all.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Oh, I agree about that. The way it stands now, I think there's probably two possibilities: She's ancient and that necklace is the source of her power, therefore that scene was a reveal of that aspect and unrelated to Jon, who's dead dead. Or, I still hold out hope for, that yes, we got the reveal of what she's really like, but taking the necklace off was symbolic, the price she has to pay (losing her powers and revealing her true self) for Jon's return. It's probably the first option but we can still dream One way or another Jon is coming back.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Yep. I guess I have never envisioned her sailing to King's Landing. The real war is in the north, she has to show up there on Drogon's back doesn't she? I suppose that leaves the question of the Unsullied, but maybe Dany can win the iron born over somehow and their boats will bring them or maybe they will never come over.

HBO: Game of Thrones
I would be annoyed that they are milking Jon's storyline for all it's worth, but since there isn't one chance in the seven hells he won't be resurrected I'm letting it go. Mel said as much tonight when she mentioned that she saw him fighting at Winterfell. I don't think she traded her youth for Jon, I think she's been ancient this whole time. The thought of Gendrey having sex with her is unfortunate. Brienne and Sansa were the best part of the show for me. The actress who plays Brienne did really good work in that scene. I can't decide how I feel about Theon. I'm not that interested Arya's story either.

HBO Now has a one month free trial if anyone needs a way to watch tonight. I said it was HBO GO on Vee's status feed, but that was a mistake.

HBO: Game of Thrones
I wonder why the show runners are so eager to wrap things up? Is this show a nightmare to produce for some reason? It's not as if they are truly out of source material. There was enough there for 10 seasons and HBO seemed to want it to last as long as possible. I'd love to know the inside scoop.

Yeah, Bernie is sort of ruining his brand for me. I like Bernie, I like his ethic way of talking with his hands, his common sense snarkiness at times, but it seems like he wants to take Hillary down with him and I am not sure what that will accomplish. He did great for a 75 yr old socialist nobody ever heard of, and he has furthered the liberal agenda to degrees Elizabeth Warren never has. Take your victory and try and pave the way for the next guy. He's like the left wing Ron Paul, only Ron never got angry and failed to find a successor. Bernie has to hope he sparked an interest in liberalism that will pay dividends down the road, not fight on out of spite. I completely agree with you Q. It's time for Bernie to call it a day, instead of doing damage to HRC.

It's pretty clear that Game Of Thrones is going to be one of those shows that launches a hundred careers. Deadwood did that as well.

This is kind of interesting. Bill Clinton defending his record against Black Lives Matter protesters. I'm really torn on the issue of mass incarceration. On the one hand I think people should not be put away long term from drug crimes. On the other hand those crimes can lead to an increase of robberies and B&E's and that's when things get scary to me. If nothing else, I hope HRC can help make the justice system more fair across the board if she gets in. http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2016/04/bill-clinton-interrupted-black-lives-matter-activists

I think she just wants this so much that she's really afraid of putting a step out of place so she overdoes the prep. I'm really curious about who she really is behind closed doors. I've heard so many conflicting stories. I remember years ago when she cried in public and some people acted like that was a terrible faux pas, so I'm sure she's holding herself on a tight leash.

The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
I'm not as annoyed with the cliffhanger as a lot of online people seem to be, but I do think it was completely unnecessary. I also agree that it felt like filler, but I don't think the producers thought it would come across that way. I'm sure they thought the were building suspense having the group blocked at every turn. It was nice to see Eugene come into his own even if his plan completely failed. Daryl and Maggie were half dead, so I don't think Negan would have chosen them. Realistically, Abraham is the only one who could have taken that first hit "like a champ". Not that I trust the show not to cheat in that regard. Well, maybe Rick could have, but I can't see them killing him. I was happy to see Michonne and Carl staying tough, while everyone else was crumbling. I'm not worried about Carol. They aren't going to kill two major people off at the same time, imo.

What didn't start with Trump? If you were responding to me, I said I'm annoyed with poor people being blamed for the rise of Trump. Pretty sure Trump is the source of Trump, otherwise how is his rise any different than any other Republican candidate? And if he weren't different I don't think they'd be p*ssing themselves over his success.

I just can't understand how anyone takes this SOB seriously. I may not like Cruz or Rubio, but at least I could see how some people might agree with them, but Trump is just so off the wall. I hate to sound like an elitist, but I feel like he's exposing the idiocy in our country. I never would have believed that so many people could be so g-damn stupid. It really gets my goat when people blame the poor for Trump's rise. I'm seeing that more and more on Facebook. It's not only the poor and uneducated who fall for authoritarianism. The very source of this debacle is a billionaire with an elite education, but let's blame the "trailer trash".

I can't either. This whole thing becomes more insane by the day. Now he's saying he wants to ban abortion and punish women who seek out illegal treatment. I'm sure that does appeal to Christian extremists. I've seen some people saying that Trump doesn't really want the nomination, which is why he keeps saying more outrageous things every day. I don't buy that at all. I think he does want the power and isn't in it just to build is brand or whatever. What really annoys me is that even though he's not likely to win, he's damaged our country while lining his own pockets.
