  1. What frustrates me is that most of the talk on these shows is nothing but the cult of Trump's personality. There's very little discussion of actual policy.
  2. This is one of those things that really bring home how the 1% live in a completely different world. Two elderly white rich psychopaths working to make one of them POTUS. It's like some kind of weird horror movie. Lord. I wonder who's idea it was to have Mr. Khan speak at the DNC? I would love to shake their hand and thank them. Ever since then my Trump worries are behind me. Maybe he never really stood a chance, but that felt like a true turning point to me.
  3. Trump hiring Roger Ailes to advise him is just pathetic.
  4. I read most of that and skimmed the rest. I try not to waste my empathy on poor little rich girls, but I feel sorry for the little girl Ivanka once was. Beyond that she is like most of the elite. It's a small circle of people who's main goal is to protect their own interests. It's really disturbing how much influence they have over our government, that is when they aren't directly running it. That's one of the problems I have with our country drifting towards oligarchy. In a county of 300 million people we don't need to keep electing the same families into power. I really hope that trend ends for awhile after HRC.
  5. Interesting article on HRC's first SCOTUS pick. Part of me wants her to pick Garland, but a much bigger part of me wants her to go left and younger. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/hillary-clinton-merrick-garland-nomination-226967#ixzz4HLGmcfEq
  6. I think one of the funniest things he's said is if he loses he's going to take a long vacation and go back to living his great life (I'm paraphrasing). I bet certain members of the RNC are choking on that. He's flat out saying losing is no skin off his nose, while all these other suckers have to live with the results of his sh*tty campaign. Can you imagine HRC saying "Well, if I lose I'll go back to making more money in an afternoon than most people owe on their mortgages. No biggie".
  7. He might try for a day or two, but he's incapable of behaving normally. Nearly every day he says something more outlandish than the day before. I don't think he can speak more than a few mins without making stuff up and he's an attention whore. At this point all HRC has to do is sit back and let him keep talking. At this rate he's running out of groups to offend. Now that HRC has released her tax records I'm really interested in seeing what's lurking in Trump's. Is it just that most of his income comes from investments like Mitt Romney or is it something shady?
  8. She's the one running, so yeah. You brought Bush up because you made the huge leap in logic that because I might think HRC is less than honest I must be a Republican. You can compare her to W all you like, but if that's what it takes to make her look honest, I'd call that a trust and honesty problem for the ages. All I can say is that it's a damn good thing Trump is looking nuttier by the day.
  9. Rick Scott dropping the ball on Zika. No surprise. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/08/florida-zika-abortion-women-pregnant-governor
  10. That's a generous perspective. I think he's such a narcissist he thinks he can make reality what he wants it to be or at least convince the public that reality is what he says it is. Thank god, it looks like you're right and HRC is going to win, but I find it deeply disturbing that he's pulling the wool over so many people's eyes. One very positive thing about HRC winning is that she's getting the last laugh on all of the people who tried to force her into a traditional first lady role years ago. Remember when she made that crack about not staying home and baking cookies? Not long after that she was basically forced to drop her maiden name. I think she even went on some morning show and baked cookies to mitigate the backlash, if I'm remembering right. I hope she says a little silent f*ck you to those people when she takes office. I give her lots of credit for staying the course and making it happen.
  11. Sure, all politicians stretch the truth and make pie in the sky campaign promises. Trump is doing more than that. I truly think he's mentally ill. Some of the conspiracy theory stuff he's said is plain nutty. The Clinton's have lied about ethical issues (deny, deny, deny), which I see as very different than pretending we can create jobs for everyone. I give HRC a pass on that stuff. GWB probably should have gone to jail, if we really need to bring him into it. Obama lied the way politicians always do, which almost seems quaint compared to the rest.
  12. Have you been watching the news? Don Lemon (and he's certainly not biased against her) just had clips of Hillary speaking and then the FBI coming right in and contradicting her line for line. She lied about not having classified emails on her server. She also lied about the FBI backing her up on not having classified emails on her server. That's just this week. The Clinton's both have a very long history of lying. I'm not going to pretend the emperor is wearing clothes just because I agree with them politically. I have......I also watched it when 22 million emails were deleted during the Bush Admin. and not one word was reported about that. I'm not sure what that has to do with HRC's credibility. Because the Bush administration did dirty things everyone else gets a free pass? and the Bus Admin. started a war based on lies THEY told and how many US soldiers came home maimed or dead? how many Iraqi civilians were killed based off these lies? but you have decided, as do most, to completely ignore that because you have this hate on for HRC. I don't care for her too much myself...but voting for her is like taking the chance Anakin will not turn to the dark side over Trump who is the damn Emperor of the Galactic Empire. but people see what they want to see...and I will not argue facts against emotions or hatred. so..enjoy. LOL What on Earth are you talking about? I don't hate HRC. I happen to adore Bill Clinton for that matter (he's still a shameless liar). The fact that you would say that is so far out there, I can't even comprehend it. It's laughable that you are saying I'm the emotional one in this discussion. Just because I don't put blinders on does not mean I hate the woman, far from it. On a personal level I like her. That doesn't mean I think she has been honest over the years. Of course, I'm voting for her. Trump is a monster. I've never voted for a Republican and I doubt I ever will in this lifetime. Preaching to me about Bush makes no sense because he's not running. All of the awful things he did has no bearing about the culture of dishonesty that surrounded the first Clinton administration or HRC's credibility. Sorry, but I'm not really looking forward to a retread of the days when the definition of terms like "sexual relations" are in dispute. Not after being spoiled by having an ethical leader for the last 8 years.
  13. Considering she is an extremely intelligent attorney, I'm pretty sure she knows he did not agree with her or her definition of "classified" and I'll leave it at that.

  15. CNN is not trying to make her as bad as Trump. He's taken over the news cycle which is saving her from being grilled over the obvious lies she's telling. If you want to say she hasn't committed a crime, fine. If you want to say she hasn't lied, please. Tell that to someone who hasn't been paying attention. Saying that the FBI agreed she didn't have classified info on her computer was a calculated cynical move. She knew more people would see her clip than would ever see the FBI rebuttal.

  17. This cracks me up. I have this terrible fear that he isn't going to fade away after the election. I feel like he media has been covering him so heavily for nearly a year and it's just never, ever going to end. She's lucked out this entire election cycle. Trump just keeps saying these crazy things like he'd want Ivanka to find another career if she were sexual harassed. It just proves how completely out of touch he is. He can't even fathom a situation were someone would be living on the edge and not be able to switch jobs, let alone careers. It's hard to get worked up about all the lying HRC has done (and let's not pretend she hasn't) in the face of all of Trump's narcissism and elitism.
  18. I would say yes. Let him self sabotage. *fingers crossed* The jobs that many white male Trump supporters are angry about are long gone from the economy and they aren't coming back. That's a problem for all of us regardless of race or gender. Trump can't fix it and neither can HRC. Trump tries to use it to race bait and HRC makes pie in the sky promises. Probably the one thing that really made me roll my eyes at her speech is when she talked about good well paying jobs for everyone who wants one. Good luck with that. It's actually very sad that young people who only have a high school degree are unlikely to get a middle class job now. Not everyone can afford college (one thing we can and should change), but there's a large number that aren't academically suited for it and those people are getting left behind in huge numbers. That's something that's going to fuel inequality for decades to come. I'd like to believe someone will come up with a solution to that, but I'm highly skeptical.
  19. Many who have also expressed interest in voting for Donald Trump are delusional and believe that they can turn back the hands of time when White men felt they had more social and economic mobility, enough to be the sole breadwinner, and everyone else knew their place. For many of these people America was a better place and when they claim to want to 'take back the country', they essentially want to take America back to the 50s before the 'turbulent' years of Civil Rights, the Women's Movement and Gay Rights movements. So many have claimed that back then, a White man knew where he stood...basically at the top of the socio-economic hill. Any doubts, look at the demographic core of Trump voters and who constitutes his largest part of his voting constituency. This is part of it, no doubt, but I think in general the world feels scarier (although arguably we're safer) and some people long for a simpler, slower time. Now we are so connected that we hear about every crazy thing that happens to individuals. At times I have to just disconnect or I find myself in a state of hyper-vigilance. I'm sure one week back in the 70's would cure me of any nostalgia I have for my childhood quick enough though. The secondhand smoke alone would be enough to send me screaming back to this century.
  20. Yeah, I've crossed the line into actually hating Trump at this point. He's so awful. He got draft deferments for a "foot spur", yet he insults the parents of a fallen solider and mocks POWs. Every time I think he can't get any more disgusting he manages to take it up a notch.
  21. It's completely f*cked up. True, but a lot of people are voting for HRC for that very same reason. If anything I feel that Republicans had a lot more choice this election cycle than Democrats ever did. I do think the convention made a decent case for HRC, but of all the qualified people in our country she wouldn't have been anywhere near my first choice. It's simply not in me to completely trust anyone who is as rich and powerful as the Clintons have become in the last 20 years. As to the whole Hollywood elite issue, both Trump and HRC are far more wealthy and powerful than the "Hollywood elite" at this point, so it's a non starter this time around. How can you criticize the Hollywood elite when your candidate is a billionaire (or close) reality star?
  22. Sold!
  23. ^ Right. I think they really made the case of voting for HRC and not just against Trump.
  24. I thought so too. He and Bill both gave really good speeches. Here's what my favorite Republican said about Bloomberg: ‏@ananavarro 32m32 minutes ago Bloomberg giving master cooking class at DNC. He's cutting, dicing, slicing, cubing, mashing and frying Trump. And making soup w/the bones.
  25. Right. We have to hope/believe/pray that polling is suspect do to cell phones and such. I'm not an optimist by nature, so I'm going to worry until I see that Clinton has won. I think people are more worried about terrorism now as well. I've been surprised at the number of people around me saying that we need to "get tough" with the Islamic state. These are mostly college educated males who think Trump can do that. It boggles the mind.
