So who's the next viper to go? It's like Whac-A-Mole with this administration, IJS.

For anyone who cares, former U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur has a stress fracture in her right hand and is out of the U.S. Open.- The Politics Thread
Charles Blow has a similar take in an Op-Ed piece that he wrote which is worth reading. The Other Inconvenient Truth An excerpt: "But in the modern age one party has operated with the ethos of racial inclusion and with an eye on celebrating varied forms of diversity, and the other has at times appealed directly to the racially intolerant by providing quiet sufferance. It is possible to trace this devil’s dance back to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the emergence of Richard Nixon. After the passage of the act, the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln to which black people felt considerable fealty, turned on those people and stabbed them in the back." "In 1970, Nixon’s political strategist Kevin Phillips told The New York Times, “The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans.”- The Politics Thread
What gets me is that Trump showed his true colors throughout the campaign last year and people chose to make themselves okay with his bigotry. And yes, it's a perverted narrative when people believe that someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth, who has never had any direct contact helping people in need, would somehow understand the needs of everyday people. Somebody is perpetrating a huge fraud. Or somebodies.- The Tennis Thread
I know that Sascha was weary but Tiafoe maintained his focus and composure and closed out the match. His game and maturity are progressing, hopefully he continues this way and the confidence of beating a Top 10 player will carry over to his other matches.- The Tennis Thread

I actually posted this in an entirely separate thread because this one was causing eye strain with all the jumpiness. It would be great if someone with special moderating powers could just merge/migrate my thread into this one.- The Politics Thread

I'm posting this separately because the Politics Thread has become unreadable (seriously, if I were an epileptic, I'd be going into seizure mode because of the relentless jumping screen!). Here is a gem from the article that stands out:- The Politics Thread
Hey, I want to be be seen as having the same financial worth as Oprah Winfrey but the reality is starkly different. The truth is the truth. I'm tired of hearing the perspective of these people, frankly I stopped caring some time ago. I hit the IGNORE button for a reason and I'm tired of being subjected to their spouting of "woe is me" diatribes.- The Politics Thread
Why are we wasting time with these people who are beyond all hope? I am simply tired of analyzing these folk, they are who they are, it's time to stop now. And for some reason, that screenshot is spazzing out my screen (it's not happening in other threads). Can we remove it please?- The Politics Thread
Apparently President Obama's tweet reacting to Charlottesville is officially the most liked (favorited) tweet in Twitter's history. People must truly be missing a President who can articulate empathy and warmth in times of crisis. 20 min ago Obama's Charlottesville reaction most-liked tweet- The Tennis Thread
I think some of the players who showed up in Cincinnati then decided to withdraw likely found that the courts were too damn slow and decided that they didn't want their bodies to absorb all that pounding and left. Can't say I blame them.- The Politics Thread

Kei is out for the rest of the season. This would be the least surprising announcement out of the bunch but man, there are so many people checking out on the ATP side this season!- The Politics Thread

Trump has been vehemently racist for decades. His voting base were fine with this as long as it inflicted damage on others. They didn't count on the damage being widespread and reaching them. Speaking of people who were fine with the suffering of others, this article about the tale of two boroughs is equal parts vexing and sad. Grenfell Tower Fire Shows Double Standard at Work in One London District- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I'm pretty sure that Y&R's entire library is intact but they started in 1973 so Bill Bell definitely had the benefit of seeing the folly of 'wiping' at other soaps. I would guess that any soap that began by the mid '70s would have their entire library of episodes properly archived.- The Politics Thread
Speaking of people who pretend, a somewhat interesting "my bad".- The Politics Thread
Someone suggested that Marlee likely blocked all of them, so they're not allowed to follow her anymore. Trump has to be the dumbest, most despicable and ignorant human being I've ever seen in life or on TV.- The Tennis Thread

So, I'm catching up...Chump reverted back to Saturday's statement? Whoever believed this man could be presidential-- the jokes on you! That racist vitriol seeps out through his mouth no matter what he does.- The Politics Thread
Yeah, they all pretend and gloss over who they really are (hiding under the hood) but this guy is an avowed white supremacist and is openly touting his credentials.- The Politics Thread
This morning I read an article where at least one white supremacist claimed he planned to run for Senate. Trump has definitely opened a way to encourage racists in America to try to run for elected office. Sad. - The Tennis Thread
