  1. ICYMI, Trump signed an executive order to eliminate Obama's flood protection standards...DAYS before hurricane HARVEY! Donald Trump scrapped Barack Obama's flood protection standards days before Hurricane Harvey
  2. When it comes to making a fool of himself, Trump continues to up the ante.
  3. In yet another instance of Trump wanting to undue anything that Obama has done, Trump is now going to lift the ban on military gear going to local police departments. Trump to lift military gear ban for local police
  4. Apparently, Liberty University A.K.A. The Falwells own a South Beach hostel that is referred to as a flophouse and a "cesspool of vice". My Weekend at the Falwells’ South Beach Flophouse An interesting article about how the number of Ukrainian refugees has increased this year, thanks to a decades long (some might say outdated) migration program instituted during Soviet times. I see no problem with people who want to migrate for a better life but even most of the people interviewed admit that their lives are not in danger, rather they are mostly migrating for reasons of economic instability in the Ukraine. There are some whose lives are in jeopardy but they live near/on the Russian border and many of those people have already fled. Soviet-Era Program Gives Even Unoppressed Immigrants an Edge Also, Ukrainian migrants have a far shorter wait then say Yazidis trying to get out of Syria. The Yazidis have faced rape and torture and usually have to spend at minimum two years in refugee camps being thoroughly investigated, examined and fingerprinted/biometrics. Ukrainians who migrate often get permission within a year.
  5. Earl Mitchell was more than Lisa's bf, he was her husband, LOL. I've got to see if I can read Farley Granger's autobiography because maybe there's more information in there but I don't see anything written about them being related. Farley's Wikipedia page does mention there being some confusion with a British actor with the same last name. Also, Farley Granger and Robert Calhoun were partners. Farley's wiki page sounds like bragging though as he mentioned the torrid affairs he had with both men and women (apparently sometimes in the same night- whoa!). I've gotta read that autobiography! Has anybody read it?
  6. Anyone familiar with a writer named Percy Granger? I was watching an episode from the 1980s and in the closing credits decided to 'zero in' on the writing staff under Marland and my eye caught the name Percy Granger (my eyes usually see Meredith Post and then daze over because the names tend to go by quickly, at some point). Out of the blue, I decided to Google the name Percy Granger and came up with this fascinating obituary (a bit morbid, I know). They do mention his writing for As The World Turns and Loving waaaay at the bottom but one of his plays Scherazade was a sartire that took place behind the scenes of a soap opera and how soap opera can mirror life. I think I may try to see if I can find a copy to borrow through the library system. Percy Granger, 51, Author of Satirical Plays I wonder whether he might have written the episode that I just watched which contained a few zany scenes.
  7. Has anyone read this article? It's a pretty good read, a piece about an act of terrorism and a surprising act of forgiveness and the road to redemption. Hopefully this young man can/will do the work to being fully redeemed. At least he sounds contrite. Forgiveness truly is an act of faith. The Two Americans
  8. Whewww, boy are there a lot of pissed Federer and Rafa fans on the Internet today and they are expressing themselves! For what it's worth, there's no guarantee that a Murray withdrawal before the draw would've ensured that Federer and Nadal would end up on the same side of the draw. It's the luck of the draw, really, although one side of the draw is going to look very star powered.
  9. And he likely took time off from his vacay to go on his weekend golf holiday.
  10. Doesn't Gorka have charges pending? I read that he was never able to get security clearance. I can't even keep up with all these damn crooks and low-lifes in this administration! And using the hurricane as cover to dump all this news. Trump still doesn't miss a weekend vacay though! Such trash, these people are!
  11. Like a thief in the night, after the Friday afternoon news dump, the Orange Menace pardons Arpaio. The GOP looks worse every day, especially since they touted themselves as being the party of 'values'. Speaking of being hypocritical, ever wonder why Republicans no longer scold about fiscal responsibility and deficits to everyone who will listen? Republicans Learn to Love Debt According to WAPO, Pompeo may be using his position at the CIA to cover Trump on the Russia investigation. At CIA, a watchful eye on Mike Pompeo, the president’s ardent ally What other excuses will Trumpians conjur to explain away these despicable actions?
  12. The GOP trying tinkering with ways to hasten their own demise, I see. GOP floats condemning Charlottesville violence
  13. Of course, Coric went onto lose the next round in a hail of errors to Jan-Leonard Struff, who I usually equate with being more of a clay court specialist. After beating Isner, whose rallies usually consist of a few strokes, Coric seemed very impatient with having long rallies and Struff seemed to get a lot of balls back in play.
  14. OMG at the crumble cookie face heiffer comment!
  15. Speaking of pathetic, these folks are still at inflating crowd numbers. Laura Ingraham website incorrectly labels NBA parade photo as Trump supporters
  16. I didn't see the match in Winston-Salem but apparently Coric broke Isner's serve like six times or something.
  17. This, after Mother Jones a previous article asking if anybody was home at HUD.
  18. or an opportunity for an unexpected breakthrough?
  19. The Sudanese government claims there was no foul play. Er, uhm...yeah, right.
  20. Milos Raonic has also withdrawn from the U.S. Open due to an ongoing wrist injury.
  21. Yet another Russian diplomat found dead. I think this the ninth one this year.
  22. Many of these people are/were holdovers from the Obama administration or previous presidential administrations. I know for sure that Kal Penn was appointed by the Obama administration. It's like in the State Department and the Justice Department, many of the staff are career civil servants who have been there for decades spanning multiple administrations, of both political parties.
  23. ...speaking of announcements that may as well say "Yo Mama", this is, er, interesting, to say the least.
  24. Another day, another letter of resignation. This one, apparently, spells out IMPEACH.
