  1. Anita Hill expresses the hope that the Senate gets things right this time by conducting a more thoughtful hearing and a thorough investigation before testimony is given. Anita Hill: How to Get the Kavanaugh Hearings Right
  2. The same party who delayed Merrick Garland's hearing as long as humanly possible (over 400 days) are now chiding Democrats for agreeing that the FBI should investigate before Prof. Blasey Ford testifies because it would delay the vote. How richly hypocritical of the GOP but none of us are surprised, right?
  3. You're welcome @~bl~ @DRW50. I wish that the second video was a bit clearer, sharper but since PGP/P&G won't upload episodes on a streaming platform anywhere, beggars can't be choosers, I guess. I've been wanting to post clips for sometime but had to get myself in the mood to do it. There are other editing software that are much better but they have to be installed and until I can get myself a new hard- drive (either portable or internal), I don't want to install any more software on my computer. Soaps back then were likely always multi-camera but the seamless movement of these tracking shots are just beautiful. Another reason why this is probably not done on today's soaps is because, clearly the director had to do blocking with the actors, so they know when to move out of frame and when and where to enter. Today's soaps don't seem as if they even use a director. I can't really recall when ATWT ceased doing these types of tracking shots but I'd guess somewhere around the mid 90s when the 'old guard' started to depart and the accountants really started to have a bigger say, which was a shame because ATWT really began to lose its visual beauty, frame by frame and the show began to take on a more generic look.
  4. 'Gurl bye' and I don't even watch The Talk. The look on Eve's face at the very end, ('you didn't have to put my name in this, I hardly know you'.)
  5. Somebody asked me if I was going to get up at like, 4 o'clock or something to watch Sloane play. I was like "Haeeeellll nah!".
  6. Some supposed signatories of that letter of support for Kavanaugh claim that their names were used fraudulently. Adrian Perkins Claims Senate Judiciary Committee Relied on Fraudulent Letter Supporting Kavanaugh
  7. @Soapsuds mentioned that yesterday September 17th marked the anniversary of the final episode of ATWT and I wanted to mark the occasion but I got so busy yesterday that I didn't have much time to do the type of post I envisioned and I wasn't satisfied with the clips I'd edited. I'm still not satisfied but, oh well. We often discuss the best (and the worst) of the writing, storylines, production values and characterizations but I wanted to highlight an aspect of the show that often went unheralded-- the high level of technique involved in how scenes were shot, when ATWT was truly at its height. Having written, drawn storyboards and filmed scenes myself, I can appreciate the level of skill the crew had in filming some of these scenes. The three scenes I'm going to present here represent some of the reasons why imo ATWT was a standout in how they shot the sequences on this series during the 80s, in particular. These scenes consist of group scenes because I think these ones standout as the most vivid examples of what ATWT did so well-- these sequences are almost entirely continuous (little to no cuts), which is not easy and I imagine, not cheap because you have to get it right or you have to start over. *I apologize in advance, the software I used made the edited video loop continuously, so I advise that you just either press Pause when the video tries to begin again, or just refresh this page. You'll likely have to do this for each video. If anyone knows a good free, uncomplicated editing software, please let me know*). Is it just my computer, or do these videos look humongous on anyone else's screen?
  8. +1 Yeah, I thought about the fact that this poster is a troll. I posted a reply that was very curt and abrupt because I suspected that poster's trolling. I don't want to waste my time. I think I'll just put that one on ignore, tbh.
  9. Ellison can be voted out and replaced by the people of Minnesota, a Supreme Court justice CANNOT. Supreme Court Justice is a lifetime appointment. One single Supreme Court Justice can tip the balance and therefore change federal laws (for a generation, at least). Any fool knows this. You are making false equivalencies. You get a grip and stop being basic.
  10. I remember that he belonged to that cult. At the time, it wasn't clear to me what his origins were. I haven't watched since I first saw it, so I can't be entirely sure. Where he came from seemed murky to me.
  11. Not sure whether I'll tune in tonight but I thought I'd post this here.
  12. You're welcome @BellaCuore. Glad you enjoyed it.
  13. Oh no, it used to be fun! I admit that it's not always fun or memorable but I've enjoyed the finals for the past few years. I'm just concerned with Piqué wanting to transform it into some FIFA/World Cup also-ran. And FIFA (and by extension, The World Cup) has had some major problems with transparency and corruption.
  14. This sounds like a recipe for World Cup-style corruption.
  15. So interesting that you mentioned that because while I watched the OLTL 2.0 a few years ago, I couldn't help but wonder what it would've been like if the show had brought in a family for Jeffrey King (Corbin Bleu) and I though of Ellen Holly reprising her role as his grandmother, with Victoria Rowell, playing the mother. I invented an entire storyline in my head and honestly, I've only seen clips and read about EH's character on OLTL. It would've been fab, imo.
  16. People are complaining that someone from the Ted Cruz campaign is sending out fraudulent mailers ...AGAIN. Apparently it has happened before.
  17. Maria has been fully active in about a handful of tournaments since her return from the ban for meldonium. She had good results in Stuttgart last year but other than that, I can't really remember any other place where she had got results that were above mediocre...thoughts?
  18. No doubt that Monahan has been hurt. From an account of a high school sweetheart of Ellison's, he seems to have a tendency to move on quickly once a relationship appears to be over and that seems to be a big part of this aftermath of this one. I too, hope that Monahan receives the help she needs. Hopefully they all are getting some type of counseling. On a different topic, Trump appears to have boxed the U.S. into a corner in regards to North Korea. Everybody seems to know this (especially the North Koreans) except for Trump...maybe? North Korea’s Trump-Era Strategy: Keep Making A-Bombs, but Quietly
  19. In the case of Keith Ellison, Karen Monahan, his ex-girlfriend who lodged the accusation, has been trying to campaign for an Anti-Narcissistic Day on social media. She has claimed that she suffered years of narcissist abuse at the hands of Ellison. Monahan has accused Ellison of "soul-rape". Others in this thread have mentioned that Monahan has made claims of documented proof yet so far, has produced none. She presented texts to a Minnesota radio station as proof but all who examined the texts said that the texts were mostly cordial. There were a few in which Ellison had asked for a timeline of when she was going to move out (the two had lived together) and some more combative ones in which she texted about the emotional pain the breakup was causing her. Monahan has said that she plans to write a book about their relationship. Also, both an ex-wife of Ellison and a previous girlfriend have denied any instances of abuse. And Ellison's current girlfriend has produced an e-mail from Monahan where Monahan accused the current girlfriend of stealing Ellison's affections from her. The Ellison case is a messy messy one and in no way resembles what has transpired with Kavanaugh and this case. I thought we who post in this Politics Thread were all fairly knowledgeable and could tell the difference. I guess there is always one exception to every rule.
  20. I said from the very beginning that there was no way that Chen stays on a show where the target audience is women. She had twice used The Talk to gaslight Janet Jackson once and then Moonves' other targets.
  21. There is usually more than one woman. Whether she comes forward or not, I have no earthly idea.
  22. Christine Blasey Ford, the California professor who wrote the confidential letter about Kavanaugh to Feinstein speaks out. California professor, writer of confidential Brett Kavanaugh letter, speaks out about her allegation of sexual assault
  23. True. Berdych clearly has the resources but I was thinking about the younger pros who are just starting out and may not have the resources. I'm not even sure that Kokkinakis is far enough along in his career to hire media people to help him. The ITF/ATP/WTA should avail themselves as a resource to players, in particular the ATP, which has a more sophisticated social media outfit.
