I've never watched one full episode. Ever. I read about the Holly/Leah debacle, but I do agree with you on being surprised about this show lasting this long.

Also, the COVID pill is no preventative, it is a therapeutic measure, once someone has already become infected, much like monoclonal antibodies, but relatively less expensive by comparison. Like monoclonal antibodies, the clock is ticking to stop the virus from replicating throughout the cells in the body. The vaccines are, to date, the closest thing we have to a prophylactic measure.

The reason why Y&R will periodically bring up Keemo, while not bringing him back is because they believe soap viewers are easily placated with a simple nod to history, regardless of whether there will ever be any follow up. And to be honest, they've been proven correct. They don't want 'that smoke' involved in actual scrutiny from an audience that is not a 'dyed in the wool' soap viewer that is used to sloppy writing, countless stereotypes and nonsensical plots. The pressure of that weight of expectations would be too much for them. Better to do the 'tried and true' and tried some more stories that they always do. They are past the point of ever expanding their diminished viewing audience anyways.

Two weeks later, Rodrigo Duterte announces that he will step down and won't be considering a run for Vice-president. Coincidence? Mildly amusing that Duterte, who fashioned himself a tough guy, who could beat anyone is announcing his departure from the executive office of his country so quickly.

You can go even further back to make a case of bad karma manifesting when Holly and Leah got the heave-ho from the show. It was always going to be difficult building a foundation on the graveyard of a long-running soap but to do it with such lack of goodwill really didn't help matters.

This! Grandchildren is not the same dynamic, particularly on a show like Y&R. Name me one character on this show that is the grandchild of a main character that has viable, ongoing storyline on a consistent basis... ... I'll wait. This was the crux of what I was trying to explain with the recasting/de-aging of Keemo but it wasn't being received as such. The Adam character gets tinkered with daily, to the point where Sharon, who once changed his diaper, can now be his love interest but Keemo's age and back story are suddenly set in stone as cannon? Wut? And the original story was clumsy as hell to begin with, when there was an eight year age difference between actors being the least of its problems. The actors were skilled and charismatic which saved the story. Also, can we have an honest conversation about Phillip Moon (God bless him) being the "go to" Asian male on CBS soaps in the 80s and 90s?

Loughlin is back to getting jobs faster than most ex-cons, who usually face obstacles getting work.

OTOH, I understand why they would want to have brand cohesion with CBS Sunday Morning, as it it clearly one of their most successful programs-- they clearly want some of that 'shine' to rub off on the daily program, which has always been highly acclaimed, but usually sustains very modest ratings share, to put it gently. OTOH, CBS Sunday Morning tends to be such a successful program because it has a more relaxed tone suitable for a Sunday, even in the discussion of serious topics. I don't know whether that type of tone could or even should be replicated during the weekdays, when the pace is often more hectic. We'll see if the branding change works though. The change of studio, I think, was for practical reasons. They needed more ventilated space, if they were ever going to have in-studio guests again. And my guess would be that Anthony Mason likely wanted a change away from the grueling pace of a daily show that aired in the morning and back to the pace that he had when he did 60 Minutes, where he can do more in-depth coverage on news stories, one at a time.

Is Morales going to be the Meredith Vieira of The Talk? In other words, is this show seeking to be more like The View and engage in actual news items? From what I can remember hearing in this thread, some people liked the fact, that it didn't engage with "heavy" news stories, mostly lighter fare. If the show is hiring someone from a news background, this may be a signal that they are willing to go in another direction. Just a thought, as I don't watch this show.

Yeah, I meant that it would be playing really fast and loose with dates. We know that some military stayed behind after the Fall of Saigon in the early 1970s. Keemo could have been born in the mid 70s. Let's face it, with an 8 year age difference between Bergman and Moon, it was always implausible, even then. Why dig in to a "fact" that was never accurate to begin with, when the origin story could be tinkered with and actually improved, without losing the most important element, which is the fact that there is an Abbott of Asian descent? When they cut stick the knife in, by killing off Colleen Carlton for no good reason just to watch us get upset? What would be the fun in that?

I also wonder if PB wants Jack to appear younger than he would be if that story gets resurrected. I don't think most fans would mind a de-aging of Keemo. They might even be willing to overlook or shift some aspects of Keemo's origin story? Every time I read about what the character of Jack is up to, it seems like he has little to nothing going on.

It sounds somewhat convoluted. Yeah, that was a genuine fashion designer, back when soaps could afford such things. The last decade of the show could have used some interesting stories. I would have brought back Kim Ullrich Johnson as Betsey Stewart (no use trying to bring back the McColls, none of which had been seen since the late 80s, early 90s). I know the show claimed to have considered bringing back Steve but I really would have, for a brief story arc. I would've brought Dani and ignored that entire disgusting story that I heard of (which I thankfully never saw anyway, I would like to personally backhand the fool who wrote such an awful story) Dani and Craig 🤮, it never happened, 😂. The other day, I was watching an interview with Eileen Fulton, where she talked if returning to the show and having to step over Whit's body, 😂. She also talked about the fun of doing scenes with Elizabeth Hubbard, the battles between Lisa and Lucinda and those early scenes with Lucinda putting her feet up on Whit's desk after she'd taken over his office. I would love to see those scenes!

Oh, so this is the episode where Craig's lies all unravel! No matter who was writing and who was in charge, this show stayed with having Steve crash swanky events looking like he just left the construction site. I wonder whether Frank Runyeon slightly lost interest once Meg Ryan left the show? Ariel was just blithely going along scandalizing Barbara's name. Was this because she split with James? So, Margo risks her life to save Barbara? This would not be the last time this happens. And again with no backup. I was NOT expecting to hear an instrumental version of "Jamming" by Bob Marley and The Wailers as the models walked the catwalk. Also, although I have heard about another McColl, I am not familiar with this one. I may have seen her once before. Is she Brian, Diana and Kurt's aunt, or something? That homicidal Richard or Davy Jenkins (who came up with that name??) looks strangely similar to the pyromaniac who was on that special Christmas episode of The Golden Girls, lol. It seems as if The Earl Mitchell Center was the fulfillment of an idea that may have started with The Refuge. I did giggle when Betsey, professing her love to Steve, says "I'm never going back to Craig" and I couldn't help but say "only when he offers you a job".😂 They made Frannie look so old in that outfit! Also the Asian woman modelling a "kimono-style" dress seemed a little 'on the nose'. Designer's choice, I guess. The music in the action sequences was so 70s!
