  1. Who are the not-so-smart people staying on a waitlist for this nonsense?
  2. I have never heard of this guy but then again, I guess I don’t follow any misinformation specialists.
  3. Interesting that a political shift leftward is attracting investment to a European country.
  4. The only one that Smith really has to make amends to is Chris Rock. All the folks screaming about “what about the children who were watching” don’t seem to realize that at those dismal ratings, hardly anyone was even watching let alone young, impressionable children, who, even if they live on the West Coast were likely to be playing video games not watching this overlong ceremony. But yeah, the Academy awards committee has a real problem with relevance or looming irrelevance, and it’s not going away anytime soon.
  5. Maybe I don’t pay as much attention to social media as I used to because I haven’t heard any calls for the character to be killed off. At least not from people who watch the actual series.
  6. JMO but I doubt the Academy would have expelled Will, they would likely have suspended him for a year or two. It’s unlikely that he would have won another Oscar for acting anyway, so I doubt he is that pressed about his departure. And his leaving simply means he won’t be eligible to vote for nominees, he can still be a nominee in future, should lightning strike twice. Hopefully the media can move on to other things, I mean Alec Baldwin shot and killed someone and I don’t think that issue has been resolved as it pertains to what restitution has been made to her family.
  7. The casting is really good imo. I actually think the actor who plays Carlton is good at playing angst, which is what I think they wanted Carlton to be like for most of the first season. Like @Noel, I didn’t get any type of vibe that Will would be eliminated since the story of Bel Air is about his life there. I don’t think they will kill Will off at all. What happens with the real life celebrity has nothing to do with what goes on with this series.
  8. Filming out of sequence makes It much easier to group scenes when it comes time for editing in the post, which also means that it is more cost effective. I can imagine, however that it would mess with an actor’s sense of continuity, especially if an actor has done a very intense scene, or has to begin with a very intense, having done something completely different in an out of sequence set of scenes shot previously. That screen shot is hilarious. Should I watch this episode? I still have yet to see it.
  9. This is surely an insignificant issue but I can never get a dark screen on this site. Not with Android and now, not with iPad. Is there a way for me to fix this? Am I even in the correct thread?😟
  10. IAL got points for their cast alone. It was a cute little sitcom. The humor was lukewarm but cozy simply because the cast was made up of actors who could deliver (well, most of them, as you stated).
  11. Naomi Osaka heading to her first final in a year, after beating Belinda Bencic.
  12. Oof. I wonder whether there could be more stories like the one Paul Rodriguez described?
  13. The thought of Allie's motives in wanting to get closer to the Abbott family, namely Jack, being suspicious was the first thing I thought of when I read about this character. I can't believe they are not writing it this way! Those are some of the most interesting kinds of characters on soaps, especially a Bell soap, which this soap seems to barely resemble anymore. It would give Allie some agency as a character, if viewers weren't quite sure of her motives, at least at first. Give her an air of mystery. And I think it would have been so much better to keep Keemo just within close range.
  14. There is a way that Keemo would have added even more complexity if Allie was torn between loyalty to her father and wanting to build a relationship with Jack. There was no need to kill Keemo, who didn't even need to be onscreen to present a conflict. Also, WTH does putting Nate in a suit have to do with the building of three corporate centers. Does Josh even know that Nate is a Hastings? I guess he chooses to conveniently forget that there was ever a Barber family. SMH
  15. 😂 Or her twin sister Deveny (faux Angela from B&B).
  16. TBH, I am very dubious on the claim that he was asked to leave as it seems to have been made belatedly, after a different claim had been made. JMO but the Academy knows they're being criticized for allowing Will to accept his award and give a speech onstage and on camera and are self-conscious about appearing like they weren't proactive about the situation, which we know they weren't. They were probably relying on Chris to press charges and Chris being Black and probably imagining both he and Will getting shot by police should he contact them, elected not to take that type of action.
  17. According to TMZ (usually I don't give the time to but somehow it came across my TL), the Academy lied about asking Will to leave. This is why I stated that there are conflicting statements on this.
  18. This nonsense was still going on?!
  19. FYI, in the U.S. alone about 700 lives per day are still being lost due to COVID-19. A smaller number compared to its peak, but that is still 700 lives per day, on average.
  20. The question is if. There are conflicting statements that came from the Academy itself. The Academy has already set many dangerous precedents. The aforementioned Allen and Weinstein. Roman Polanski's standing ovation. Many are now citing Adrien Brody grabbing and kissing Halle Berry without her permission as what would be called sexual assault today.
  21. I basically stopped watching daytime soaps several years ago because all I ever seemed to be doing was thinking how differently I would write stories on the daytime soaps I had been watching. After awhile, it got too mentally exhausting just to watch and I realized that not only was I no longer enjoying what I was watching but it was causing me frustration just to watch.
  22. Summer of Soul was such a treasure of a documentary. Questlove earned that award! (I don't like the idea of deserve vs. undeserved).
  23. Elina Svitolina is taking some time off. I didn't see her matches in IW or Miami but just seeing her in the stands and she looks weary. (Gaël also looks somewhat sluggish in his matches too).
  24. Then it's time to find a new therapist. Around the time, I had just finished listening to the audiobook of his autobiography, I checked out his YouTube channel and it documented aspects of him co-writing his memoir and he did have some kind of therapist there. I don't know whether she is his regular therapist, but, at times, he was ducking and dodging the process, missing writing deadlines and no one really called him out on his avoidance. Maybe he needs to see someone else. Chris Rock has been open about seeing a therapist. He said he was diagnosed with some type of learning disability. In an interview last year, he said, in his romantic relationships, women would ask "what's wrong with you?" He said his therapist said he has difficulty reading social cues, like interpreting facial expressions, mood and body language. I just think it is really interesting to see what happened on Sunday evening through the prism of all this. Now there is confusion over conflicting statements about whether Will Smith was asked to leave and refused. At this point though, the Academy awards people will probably be forced to act in some sort of way. What that looks like, I guess we'll see. Honestly, they need to stick the whole ceremony on YouTube, put the ads on a crawl on the bottom of the screen. No breaks, except a brief intermission. This ceremony has descended into a boring parade of corporate sponsors with some clips, speeches and skits in between. Corporate interests have done to the Academy awards what they've done to the Olympic Games. Dulled them.
  25. JMO but it's unlikely that Will will win an Oscar again, at least for acting (perhaps as a producer). I likened his winning for his portrayal of Richard Williams as almost comparable to Jennifer Hudson winning for playing Effie White in Dreamgirls. I'm not sure if people know what I mean by this. Although, tbh, I still think that someone like Sterling K Brown would have been better cast to play Williams but Smith had cultivated such goodwill (no pun intended) that many people felt it was his time. Also, the story of Richard Williams and Venus and Serena Williams is unlike any other story on earth and it was also seen as a sort of celebration of them. The regardless of whether people believed Dominic or Denzel were better (and many people did) this season, knowing the kind of person they believed Will to be, they didn't want to see him lose again. But after this display (I just read an article where Pedro Almodóvar claimed that watching Smith rant in his acceptance speech was like hearing the rants from a cult leader), Will will have to give an undeniably phenomenal performance to ever get an award for acting again. Before the Academy awards ceremony, someone suggested that Will do theater (I don't know why more movie actors won't do theater, it would improve their craft), Macbeth jokes aside, I have thought that he and a few other actors should gave been doing theater for years. But for now, I just think Will needs therapy, he's been carrying around some serious baggage and he can't lift it anymore.
