Soap Opera Cast Lists and Character Guides- Cancelled and Current
I could be totally off but I’ve convinced myself it’s her, lol. She wasn’t on GL long but I liked her.

Soap Opera Cast Lists and Character Guides- Cancelled and Current
@slick jonesDon't know whether this is any help, but I found a blurb re Balaban being cast in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," from 1967. The blurb said that he had previously been on EON. No mention of ATWT though.

Soap Opera Cast Lists and Character Guides- Cancelled and Current
@slick jones @Paul Raven I found an article from July 1968, regarding a play in which Ebert was appearing, that stated he played (past tense) Chuck Ryan for three years (but didn't give specific dates). Didn't find anything re Balaban or Chastain.

Yeah, that was awful. Poor Robert Clary had to sing for them! I wonder what he thought about that? I was more interested in the CBS soaps in the 80s and 90s, but that gradually waned too. The soaps started copying each other too much, and not in a good way (e.g., Reva being cloned on GL; I'm surprised that JER didn't come up with that one first). I mostly stopped watching soaps all together in the late 90s, then a co-worker got me into watching Days again, around 2006. I've stuck around out of habit since then, but they've almost lost me. I'm barely watching now. I was not familiar with Ron's prior work, so I tried to give him a chance, but I finally had to admit that he's terrible. I'm afraid we're stuck with him until the end though. I don't know how soaps will ever again attract the new audience they need to survive (and they've alienated many of the old audience). There are just way too many other quality options now.

Some of the 80s stories (and performances) do seem cringe-worthy now, but I continued to watch, even after my favorites left. I do think Sheri could still mine warm moments from the OTT stuff. I thought the scripts she wrote in her latest stint with Days were good but those were too few. I suppose she didn't want to remain at that capacity. She seemed to have little, or no, influence on Ron, as far as her consulting position was concerned. @DaysFanatic777I always enjoy your posts too, wherever I may find them.

Sometimes I wish for more Horton returns, but then I remember who is writing, and then I'm content to keep them in my memories. Sarah Horton finally returned and she barely interacts with her Horton family. Eli rarely does either, except in his professional capacity. I do hope that Marie at least returns if/when the show is canceled in the next few years.

I don’t recognize anyone from a soap. I’ve seen the blonde woman in the V-8 ad in a lot of other commercials. I think the man in the first commercial was Will Rogers, Jr.

The Sarah recast has arrived. I think she's much better than the first one. Sarah now wants to go to law school. The actress, Dorothy Fielding, resembles young Meredith Baxter.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
I cannot stand Ricky and I feel like a terrible person for feeling that way. He's not engaging at all. We definitely have been spoiled with the other child actors. And there's young Jonathan Frakes, whom I'm supposed to hate, looking as cute as a puppy, lol.- Love of Life Discussion Thread
I’m glad you liked the article Amanda. I asked some people on FB (a group of fans of classic soaps) whether anyone saw you on Love of Life. One man did remember seeing you when he watched with his mother. He thought that your character’s catchphrase was “suit yourself.” He sent his regards and is going to tell his mother, who will be pleased to be reminded of you. Another said this: I really liked her. Lynn Nelson was Tammy's illegitimate daughter who at first tried to corrupt Tammy's stepdaughter Sandy. Linc Porter disliked Lynn until she got the goods on a crime syndicate infiltrating the Carlson Paper Company. Linc died and Lynn married Henry Carlson's respectable nephew Jeff.- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
Christopher Pennock posted this on his FB page: Villagers...please keep actor John Karlen in your spiritual practices...he has had a stroke and is in intensive care at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank. He has lost his speech and movement on his left side..2 surgeries have helped..I love this guy and I am devastated...om mani padme hung x trillions.- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
Some reliable sources are saying that John Karlen had a stroke last Sunday, and is in intensive care.- Love of Life Discussion Thread

Hi @Musical Soap Lady. I found this on newspapers.com, from The Detroit Free Press. Some folks in the Love of Life thread might remember you. I didn’t start watching LoL until the 70s, unfortunately. Would love to hear your remembrances.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
Love the ad @Paul Raven. I wish we could see that time period. - The Doctors Discussion Thread
