  1. It is. And nice to see your hard work is appreciated too! I noticed that Janice Lynde loved your Nicolas Coster post! 😜
  2. I believe Kitty somehow had a tape recording of Tom and Laura talking about Mickey being sterile. She and Bill were arguing over that when she had her heart attack. Bill kept silent about it during his trial because no one wanted Mickey to find out. Mickey and Laura had bonded while they were working on Susan Martin's insanity defense (for shooting her husband, David). Bill was out of town at that time.
  3. Yes, that's Ernie, @DRW50
  4. You called it right. I wasn't even sad when Mary was murdered later by the Strangler because of the way Melinda played her. I did like Karin Wolfe's and Carla Borelli's versions of Mary too.
  5. If Mary was still around, I'm fairly certain that Barbara Stanger was still playing her. I don't think Melinda Fee showed up until 1981. Mary had married Alex Marshall earlier in the year (and Barbara was playing her then). But she could have left Salem for a while after Bob died. I thought Melinda Fee was miscast as Mary.
  6. It's not my favorite era but I enjoyed it. You know I love seeing anything with Doug and/or Julie (though I agree their scene was spoiled a bit at the end with Julie gasping). I thought the scene with Doug and Marie was great. We rarely get to see quiet scenes like that on Days anymore. I enjoyed David's scene with Tom and Alice too. Richard Guthrie was better here than I had remembered. I also had forgotten that David still carried resentment toward Julie this late over her giving him up for adoption. Really liked seeing early Neil and Liz. They were my mother's favorite couple. And Don is my favorite pairing for Marlena so it was good to see them. I hated all the business stories but that could just be me. I've never really been interested in that topic. I did enjoy seeing young Josh Taylor in his tight jeans however, lol. Thanks again!
  7. Thank you so much! I haven’t seen this since it first aired.
  8. I wonder too. Dorian should be showing up soon though.
  9. I could be totally off but I’ve convinced myself it’s her, lol. She wasn’t on GL long but I liked her.
  10. Pictures from Days’ 5th anniversary party.
  11. @slick jones I found a blurb that said Sam Schacht played "Larry" on LIAMST.
  12. @slick jonesDon't know whether this is any help, but I found a blurb re Balaban being cast in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," from 1967. The blurb said that he had previously been on EON. No mention of ATWT though.
  13. @slick jones @Paul Raven I found an article from July 1968, regarding a play in which Ebert was appearing, that stated he played (past tense) Chuck Ryan for three years (but didn't give specific dates). Didn't find anything re Balaban or Chastain.
  14. @slick jones Is that Lydia Bruce with Bill Lipton?
  15. I agree about Hope, although the writing isn't the only problem. I don't know what is going on with KA. She just seems so remote/emotionless most of the time, and then she seems to be flirty at inappropriate times.
  16. Yeah, that was awful. Poor Robert Clary had to sing for them! I wonder what he thought about that? I was more interested in the CBS soaps in the 80s and 90s, but that gradually waned too. The soaps started copying each other too much, and not in a good way (e.g., Reva being cloned on GL; I'm surprised that JER didn't come up with that one first). I mostly stopped watching soaps all together in the late 90s, then a co-worker got me into watching Days again, around 2006. I've stuck around out of habit since then, but they've almost lost me. I'm barely watching now. I was not familiar with Ron's prior work, so I tried to give him a chance, but I finally had to admit that he's terrible. I'm afraid we're stuck with him until the end though. I don't know how soaps will ever again attract the new audience they need to survive (and they've alienated many of the old audience). There are just way too many other quality options now.
  17. Some of the 80s stories (and performances) do seem cringe-worthy now, but I continued to watch, even after my favorites left. I do think Sheri could still mine warm moments from the OTT stuff. I thought the scripts she wrote in her latest stint with Days were good but those were too few. I suppose she didn't want to remain at that capacity. She seemed to have little, or no, influence on Ron, as far as her consulting position was concerned. @DaysFanatic777I always enjoy your posts too, wherever I may find them.
  18. Sometimes I wish for more Horton returns, but then I remember who is writing, and then I'm content to keep them in my memories. Sarah Horton finally returned and she barely interacts with her Horton family. Eli rarely does either, except in his professional capacity. I do hope that Marie at least returns if/when the show is canceled in the next few years.
  19. Frances had a stroke after returning from a trip to Africa.
