  1. I'm reminded of when Randolph Mantooth joined GH, after primetime success and also being happy with his time at Loving, and he just hated it. Different circumstances, different producers, obviously, but the show just isn't for everyone.
  2. @Reverend Ruthledge Thank you for bringing the post over here as I didn't see it. Very moving. I would like to think his son and Eileen got to see each other again.
  3. Thanks @Soapsuds glad Don is still up to do these.
  4. @DeeVee IIRC, there are some hints that they know each other and Carrie denies it. I respect you guys here who are watching the German dubs. I know I should too but it's tough for me to feel invested if they aren't the originals, even though the originals for that period look like they have been filtered with dirty dishwater.
  5. @alwaysAMC If you ever have time to kill, I love this clipset, from the late, great classicgl channel, all about Diane Ballard, Alan Spaulding's long-suffering secretary, flying too close to the sun and paying the ultimate price. (and the first clip has Carrie).
  6. Thank you for compiling all these, and all the tireless work you do on these soaps @janea4old Yeah, I have a feeling the people who think Drew set everything up with Ronnie are right, although I wonder if she may not be fully aware.
  7. That was about the Carrie Marler story from 1982. I don't know if Ross had any story in 1988 - maybe that's when he was with Nadine, I don't know. You can get some glimpses of the story around here. I know that this won't make any real sense of the story, so for a summary (I'm probably getting a lot of this wrong - the clips also somehow got under the spoiler bar, sorry):
  8. Thanks for the great clips @Maxim I don't think I've said before that I appreciate you also having longer clips and sharing those on Youtube. I still don't know how they saw any way back for Viki/Clint after this. As for Sloan, I'm not ever sure how to feel. I do think he is sincere in his love for Viki, but the comparisons to Victor also add to the manipulative air around him.
  9. It really was such a short-sighted decision to fire an actor just because another actor was taller. Typical ABC by that point. And of course they later let Stapleton, one of the only somewhat popular Kevins, get fired by JFP for a pal of hers that viewers hated.
  10. I was looking for soap content on Archive and someone just put this up from a 12-year old Youtube upload. A look at a Jerry ver Dorn meet and greet from 1988. For some reason they don't bother to interview him (maybe they did in another segment), but if you want to see him you get a few glimpses.
  11. Thanks. I haven't watched most of the show in a very long time.
  12. Always glad to see Nina. I wasn't sure what her relationship with Christine with as last I heard wasn't Nina with Paul and then he left her for Christine. I don't know - I wasn't watching. I do hope they will let her grieve for Chance. It will be nice to see Gina too.
  13. That's a good point. They could have said he was going by William, or Will.
  14. He would have been a little older than her, but maybe Peggy's son Billy, which could have led to Peggy returning for some appearances and more tension between Bridget and Roger.
  15. Thanks. JJY saying everything goes to Sonny made me laugh. So did Brook Kerr saying give it to Portia.
  16. Thanks @TheyStartedOnSoaps
  17. Thanks @chrisml I didn't see you'd posted it here before I put it in the DS thread. I just recently saw that David and Susan Sullivan did a Big Finish audio together for Dark Shadows. It's still available for purchase on the Big Finish website if anyone wants to hear it. Panic | The Dark Shadows Wiki | Fandom
  18. There's a certain long, slow death for complexity and story with the black characters on the show starting in 1994 that makes the material easier to forget. Charles Malik Whitfield was the first Ben. Charles Malik Whitfield - IMDb
  19. That definitely helps.
  20. On a positive note, Lucas does have a grandson. List of Days of Our Lives characters introduced in the 2020s - Wikipedia
  21. That used to annoy me to no end in the late '90s and the '00s, but the later versions with even the characters knowing how absurd the constant use is do amuse me.
  22. Thanks as always @slick jones
  23. If I had to guess, I'd say the show or the network thought he was too goofy and not a leading man. It's always easier for a soap to tell a story about a stalwart man and an out-of-control woman, and that's what we got once lap dance Rachel arrived. I'd still love to know what went on with the Kevin recasts. If the idea was Geiger being too short, Armstrong was certainly taller, but not much else. I wonder if they were told Geiger was being let go by the network, were at a loss, and someone remembered Jack Armstrong for how good he looked in Speedos on Eden (Diana Barton was also cast on Y&R around this time so clearly someone in soapworld was a fan). Armstrong's assets would have been put to better use on OLTL about 15 years later, but not in 1994. It takes a lot for me to say an actor was much better as a performer on a softcore Playboy soap than on OLTL or his previous flop stint on AMC, but Armstrong genuinely was. Not just in the expected, but even his acting. Maybe he was better in his primetime work than on soaps...I have not watched any of that.
  24. Thanks. Erika does a great job describing the character, maybe more than we'll get onscreen.
