  1. They could recreate those birthday party scenes with Bobby, Shelley, and Leo from Twin Peaks.
  2. Danny talking with Alexis to make sure he isn't a close blood relative of Charlotte just because the show knew how put off a number of viewers would be is very amusing.
  3. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1983.
  4. I think the headwriters mentioned in some interview about it being more difficult now due to their having no idea how viewers feel.
  5. I agree they should have aged up her kids. I might have had Blake get more involved in Spaulding, go back to her roots. Blake/Alan as a pairing at that point would have made more sense than having Alan with Beth. Yes, a Blake/Alan-Michael pairing is more logical than de-aging him a decade and pairing him with Marina. I'm not sure how I feel about a recast. I don't think casting was a strong point for GL by that time, with a few exceptions like Murray Bartlett.
  6. They likely couldn't afford her. She dodged a bullet in the long run as those actors didn't get paid, reportedly. I do wonder what they would have done with Erica as the show was so unsure of where to take her in those last years.
  7. For some reason I thought Poser was biracial.
  8. Sorry - I'd never heard that quote. I understand now.
  9. I remember Porte being camp on Y&R too, so I guess that's just how he plays his roles.
  10. Oddly I think Monty was one of the few GH producers for many years before or after who didn't kill off a lot of kids, although I am probably forgetting someone.
  11. I never thought Annie had much of a character to ruin, although they did take her too far. The bigger issue for me was their refusing to let Annie go once Watros left. At least they learned that lesson the hard way. I also never thought of this story as having a proper triangle. I felt like the show just kept coming up with excuses to keep Josh and Reva apart rather than Josh having genuine feelings for Annie. The only other woman I thought Josh worked with was Harley.
  12. I'd agree up to a certain point, but by Guza's last few years I think the show was close to as meandering as the current show - there were some stronger actors and scriptwriters, but there were also some ill-advised characters like whatever the hell Emily's double was meant to be, or anyone tied to Franco, the whole Ethan and Luke mess, etc. Beyond the Dante story, which did have a lot of strong moments and should have cemented him as a core character (likely would have if Guza hadn't left), I didn't feel like the show had much of a throughline.
  13. My only real memory of Nathan Parsons as Ethan was grimy...and I can't say that has changed.
  14. I suppose this makes sense when she is contrasted to Meta, Kathy, and other long-suffering heroines of her era. Then when Kathy and Meta are gone or going and the new generation of neurotics like Robin arrive, Bert is matured. Thanks again @Reverend Ruthledge
  15. From a few months ago, I just saw this May 1995 episode I don't remember being up before. As The World Turns Episode 9,999 airing omg May 11, 1995
  16. Thanks @Vee The closest I have come to watching any Super Bowl.
  17. That and JFP getting total control. She was always bad for a show when she ran everything.
  18. You aren't wrong there.
  19. @alwaysAMC Enjoying your reviews as always. I just wanted to say that I have a feeling they gave Reva that bridge moment with Holly because Reva had a long history with bridges in her first run (she jumped off a bridge twice [once in a suicide attempt, once to save Josh's life], she saved Sonni's life on a rotting rope bridge, she drove of a bridge to her "death"). I wonder if Kim asked for that, although I'm not sure she was ever quite that demanding.
  20. I'd agree if Reva had returned in 1993, but that's the period the show starts to really lose what it had built up over the past few years for me. I think the weak state it was in leaves the opening for both Reva and Dinah to gobble up too much focus, although I think Dinah hurt more characters than Reva did in those first few years back (Vanessa, Roger).
  21. I could see that happening - knowing Frank, Valentin will save Lulu from "Nathan." I just hope whatever they do Alexa gets a chance to act.
  22. I could see that happening. It's hard for me to imagine them actually pairing Dante and Brook Lynn but I could see him jumping to conclusions. (I did think they would have Brook Lynn start to develop feelings for Dante but for now she is still devoted to Chase) Yes. For many plot-driven stories or stalled out character developments this group has had a believable shift in the last few years (down to Mulcahey in some cases, others due to actors leaving [it's tough to imagine Chad Duell in the current story]).
  23. I've seen some fans say this has ruined Chase's character (there was even some whole article at Soaphub or somewhere that the show should have him secretly work to turn in Willow and exonerate Michael and otherwise it's out of character). Maybe the writing hasn't been strong enough in explaining why, but I don't think Chase's actions are out of character for him. He likes to "save" women, and Brook Lynn doesn't need saving - she now has everything she ever wanted with Gio in her life along with her career and the Qs, and Chase knows he can never give her a biological child. Willow is always in need of support and help. Then when you add in his messy history with Michael, it's a perfect storm for a very slow, ugly breakdown.
  24. This sounds good. I think I'd have 1987 at #3 and Sid going over the cliff at #6. 1987's finale was much better than it should have been given the state of the show, but that whole grimy Paige/Peter/Abby/Olivia saga was the strongest story of the lot. They did a good job with the disbelief and numbness of the situation, especially Donna Mills and Tonya Crowe.
  25. Thanks. It gets so confusing.
