John appeared several times in the Ariana Munker clips (I guess they are gone now). He was definitely more of a standout.

@Paul Raven Thanks for the Conboy article. He definitely comes off as sleazy, although I appreciate the honesty as this is how many in the business still behave. That part about casting a busty woman if she's not meant to be sympathetic helps explain Sydney Sweeney's career. I wonder if he had more say in casting as the '70s progressed as it just got worse and worse. His casting on Capitol and GL wasn't hot either. @Broderick I agree about Tom Ligon. Even when he was on Oz I thought he was very charismatic. That's it. He is a parody. The role I enjoyed him most in was when he'd pop up on Alice as a cheesy game show host.

I can't believe that got through. That is just nonsensical. And an example of why they shouldn't have aged John while refusing to age Frank.

I would say they may have been better off trying to use June than bring in Miranda, but I doubt it would have made a difference. I don't even remember Roy. I kind of liked Vince and Mimi. I might have kept them. I guess they were easy cuts though.

I think he's right that the story was unnecessary, but he wasn't going to work even if they had tried another story. The character was a dud and he didn't really have strong chemistry with Julia Barr. I think the only good scene they had was their last, where they danced or something (I don't remember). Fitzpatrick was incredibly charismatic and handsome, but even there, the character lost any purpose once they made Janet psycho again and paired him with Brooke.

I'm very glad they talked about his RH role. I remember that (it helped that he was very hot) even as I had forgotten about his ill-fated AMC part! I hope Frank can get a small part for Juliet Mills too. Lovely to hear that Brook Kerr popped over to greet him. Maxwell was also on Emmerdale for about a year. He wasn't great but the story was memorable. Fascinating to see Grease 2 treated as a cult classic these days. I know they had a reunion at TCM's latest festival (needless to say Michelle Pfeiffer was not there).

Very true. I think they are also still paying the price for how weak the cast was becoming in the last seasons. They made so many mistakes in 12 and especially 13.

I agree, although I wouldn't have minded one last revamp season. I struggle to get through 14, "improved" or not. The cast is very tired, in many ways, and not appealing to me.

I would have chosen him. He would have been a bit rough, but he was a decent actor and charismatic. I don't think McCook is anything special, but he had presence. Cole did not (and I don't think he looked much better than that photo of Troy).

I think Kathleen was capable of sympathetic moments, but I agree Judith was the stronger choice. Kathleen just reminds me of some of the original core of the character.

Charles Cioffi Dead: 'Klute', 'Shaft', 'All The Right Moves' Actor Was 90 He played Kirk Laverty. The surviving material in that story doesn't interest me, but I did appreciate seeing such a powerful screen presence. Another reminder of why we need New York-based soaps.
