Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Obviously, Mariah was a midseason replacement, but this is still such an odd pairing. What did it replace? I don't even know why this show was greenlit...and starring Jaclyn Smith? Was this a remake of that Sissy Spacek prison movie, Marie? I know that was based on a true story. Why not cast someone more suited to the part?

Is he even that close with Jason now? I suppose it's down to airtime, as I assume Bradford and Steve are still close.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Wilding lasted such a long time. Off and on. Didn't he even have story with Chelsea? I wonder if he just got focus because of his mother. I know Malloy did have some support as Kyle but based on his exit I am not sure if something was off backstage. Has Zimmer ever spoken about him? I agree Mowery was doomed, as Marland didn't seem to have much interest in Jackie or Justin anyway.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Krista not auditioning for Tina was a real mistake. She was not right for the part (not helped by lousy writing). I think by that point with Curlee phasing out the show just lost any ability to properly establish any characters, returning or new. Mindy existed solely for angst with Nick, as did Alex. She had no character. Crampton was well-liked on Y&R but Mindy was nothing like Leanna. She was clearly just cast because of that popularity and the idea that a soap name will help paper over nonexistent material. The only time I thought she was fitting in was toward the end, with Michael O'Leary. At that time characters only seemed to fit in just as they were leaving (Mindy, Nick, Tangie).- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
I know Jean best for her work in Doctor Who, especially the fascinating Sara Kingdom, very of her time and ahead of her time. I hope more of her episodes are found to honor her. Jean also graciously returned later in life to record some audios for Big Finish. @I Am A Swede I know this is a tough one for you.- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Thanks @chrisml Eden and Cruz were so idolized by many from so early on, I'm not sure I've ever heard A Martinez talking about the backlash he received. It is another reminder that being perfect, as Cruz often was, still does not stop bigotry or racism.- Y&R: Old Articles

I may be wrong, but I think they broke up after she left. I thought Neil was a likeable actress who often got cast in dud parts (although I know many loved her on Texas - I haven't seen a lot of her on there). I appreciated her work on ATWT as Dawn. What made Simms work so well in the part was she was able to play sexy but also vulnerable. She was able to play a heart in the character. That was something the show took for granted...and it was something the show struggled with in many younger women they cast. They should have fought much harder for her to stay, if only JFP hadn't been so arrogant.- Another World Discussion Thread
I believe Wyndham and Charles Keating were regularly doing productions of a play called Couplets in these years. I got the sense that Wyndham just ended up adopting her persona from that play into her work on AW, and by that point no one in charge cared enough to question her. (why does this remind me of the Luvahs sketch on SNL)- Another World Discussion Thread
