  1. 90210 flourished once it shed most of its ties to the original series, IMO. The difference between a MP sequel series and a 90210 sequel series rests squarely on setting. MP easily lends itself to mixing the old crew in with new characters, while it required some suspended belief to fit Brenda and Kelly into the new 90210. Kelly Taylor, guidance counselor? Really? Get that ish out of here! They should have just made passing references to things from the original series.
  2. MP 2.0 was just so far from the spirit of the original. I think part of what makes all these remakes and sequels fail is that they try more to live up to the hype of the original shows instead of just trying to keep the spirit and tone of the original shows. MP is known for scandal and betrayal and deception, sex, power, etc, but there was also friendship and romance, and the most important thing was the family-like atmosphere at the building. 2.0 didn't have that, and it sucked ass.
  3. Doug and Laura are still married, as far as I know. And damn, they all look so good! That picture from inside the magazine looks like a promo shot from the original run. I'm so glad they didn't have them pose in the ugly way most current shows do cast photos, with the cast members all spread out in a police lineup. Most of all, all of those smiles look real, and it looked like my MP crew had a fun time participating in the shoot!
  4. There's absolutely no way that they just excluded him, I'm sure. Everyone knows that Michael Mancini was THE leading man of MP. He was the only person to appear in every single episode.
  5. I don't think they could have ever gotten any of the male stars of 90210 back for the sequel series. The main four guys all seem to look back fondly on the show, but they've moved on. Lord knows I don't need to see Jesse Vasquez back on TV. The MPers look FANTABULOUS in that photo!! Michael is the only absence, of course, which is a shame because TC has aged just as well, if not better, than the rest of them. I'd totally watch a show built entirely on that crew.
  6. I'm (very tardily) discovering this underrated country-pop diva, and I LOVE her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DhdnFRV928
  7. Yeah, I'm not here for the Potters either. I honestly would not mind if they somehow managed to write that whole part of the show out, but I can't see them getting rid of Jack. Of course, I loved the fabulous show's return. It truly felt like it never left, and everything picked right up from the season finale. Victoria being alive was a no-brainer, but I'm hoping Lydia managed to survive as well. I'm guessing if she did, no one else knows and she'll give everyone a big shock when she comes back. I really want to delve more into how Victoria survived, though, and if she needed any medical attention, who gave it to her, etc. I know the government is taking care of her, but who actually found her? Ashley/Daniel works for me, but I still see Daniel having an epic downward spiral. It started in season one, and I can only imagine, the more he discovers the people around him using him as a pawn in their various schemes (plus Ashley and Conrad possibly sexin'), he'll get even worse. That's gon' always be my boo, though Charlotte...eh. I feel like she's still trying to figure out who she is or something, because it seems like she's just all over the place, always. I'm only interested in her in relation to Emily and Queen Vic.
  8. More than anything, she's looking like Erin "Homeless in Indiana" Moran right about now.
  9. This is gonna be horrible of me, but those pics look like they come from an amateur porn site.
  10. I get where she's coming from, but I feel that most of the things she wanted to see in the last hour were covered, intentionally or unintentionally, over the last year. Through all of the silliness, there was a definite sense of culmination in those final months. Of course, I wanted to see a nice long nostalgia fest at the end, but "a full hour of montages" of clips that were already shown for the 20th anniversary, 25th anniversary, 30th anniversary, 35th anniversary, 40th anniversary, Mona's funeral, Phoebe's funeral, Myrtle's funeral, Palmer's funeral, and any of the other tons of episodes that relied heavily on flashbacks (including several in the last year) wouldn't have been very effective, IMO.
  11. I cried, and I didn't need montages/flashbacks of the same clips all over again to solicit more tears. I wasn't interested in seeing Maria and Edmund's wedding again.
  12. LOL! I thought she was boring, but I liked her with Aidan. If she'd stayed around, she could have been Annie's sidekick, assisting in her various schemes.
  13. I loved Aidan early on, for maybe his first 3-4 years, and I wished he could have found someone to be with who wasn't on the rebound from someone else. I liked him with Erin, but then she was murdered.
  14. The Martins vs. Ray storyline is one I've always wanted to see. I've never seen any clips of Matthew Anton as Tad, but that must have been a lot of heavy stuff for a child actor to play.
  15. Thank you very much for all of that, danfling. I must admit I was only summarizing the vague memories I have of reading SOC's yearly recaps about ten years ago (those recaps seem to be missing from the site now). Margo remains the AMC character I most want to see stuff of.
  16. I didn't realize that was Nigel! I've never seen any pictures of him, so yes, both photos are real treats. That pic of Kelly, Linc, and Myrt is a treasure, too. It must have been a very emotional moment for the three of them to be reunited after so many years.
  17. Margo Flax was a friend Erica met when she moved to New York to be a model in 1972. They were roommates when Erica became involved with Jason Maxwell (while still married to Jeff). After Jason was murdered, Erica moved back to Pine Valley and Margo tagged along, eventually falling in love with Paul Martin, who was already knee deep in a love polygon with Anne, Nick, and Kitty. Margo suffered from low self-esteem and body image, and she had a facelift (coinciding with the actress's real life facelift) to attract Paul's attention. Claudette was Margo's daughter, who was on the show for a number of years, but no one ever seems to have comprehensive knowledge of her storylines, if she had any.
  18. Is that Margo Flax seated next to Phil? I'm loving all of these glimpses of Ann, who was one of the show's lead heroines in the first ten years. It never dawned on me how much her glamorous NYC lifestyle might have been played up in the early years.
  19. GOD these pictures are truly treasures! The color one of Tara and Kate in the Martin living room is priceless.
  20. I'm clueless as to who Remy is and what the original and more recent storylines were about...
  21. I may have shared these before, but here are some screencaps from the 20th anniversary episode that I basically printscreen'd from YouTube years ago. Charles and Mona visiting with Kate. Tara and Chuck's wedding. Charles gives Erica a WTF face when she accuses him of being deaf. Ann arguing with Paul about their daughter's health. Adam talking to Stuart about Cindy. Brooke and Tom kissing. Tad having a Casablanca-esque dream. Daisy lurking at the masquerade party of 1980. Cliff and Nina at the party. Cindy's portrait. Cliff prepares to marry Nina. Daisy on the witness stand. Erica ho'in for a football team. Jeremy tries to help Erica off of a fire escape. Erica and Jeremy on an island. Erica hugs Mark during his intervention. Erica's twisted "Raising Kane" fantasy. Erica and Nick are discovered in bed by Mona. Erica rolls eyes at Nick. Erica marries Tom. Greg proposes to Jenny. Jesse apologizes to Cindy for being an ass. Jesse and Angie. Joe gives Tara away at her wedding to Chuck. Myrtle visits with Kate.
  22. Kate #1 has a very interesting look. I almost want to say she had sort of an "ethnic" look (like ol' Looch), but I don't know if that's quite right.
  23. Yep, Warren Burton played Eddie on AMC (and got an Emmy for the role), went on to AW, and then played Warren on GL from 1983 to 1987. I wish there was more of early Cliff/Nina on YouTube. It seems like the only stuff we have from Taylor's first run is from when they were broken up and with other lovers. I want to see why/how they became one of AMC's top couples -- I definitely want to see how they managed to get an extremely high-budget wedding complete with location shoot after being on the show for no more than a year and a half.
  24. MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if the picture of Mark and Erica gettin' down at the disco come from an actual scene. If so, I must see it!
  25. So in love with all of these pictures, especially the 70s ones.
