  1. Uncle Mark is and will always be my #1 fave AMC piece'o'ass. MLM could get it today.
  2. I've tried with this show, but I can't watch it.
  3. Bet was one of the most fabulous characters in UK soap history, and most definitely Coronation Street's #1 diva. She was sexy, rough-around-the-edges, didn't take any sh!t from anyone, but she could also be as sweet as honey, vulnerable, etc. A lot of Bet is Julie and a lot of Julie is Bet.
  4. This man is a damn poet.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmauMVxHSds
  6. Since this was a popular thread on DTS, I figured we could discuss and share our favorites (and least favorites) in regards to the rest of television. I'm sure we've had this thread before, but whatever. Here's one of my faves.
  7. Uncle Mark should have visited or characters should have visited him. In my dream alternative AMC universe, Josh would have been born onscreen as the son of Erica and Tom circa 1980ish, and he and Mark would have been extremely close. Oooh okay, that's what I figured. Lots of late 70s/early 80s soaps that I've watched have those types of characters, and they add so much to the show. I know Dr. Clader was still making appearances as late as 2003. He was Anna's obstetrician when she was pregnant with Leora.
  8. Carl, I thought you'd like this picture from the EE Facebook page: Of course, I don't think you'd be too crazy about one of the comments underneath -- "Tanya can do better."
  9. I wonder how long Father Tierney was on the show. He was a part of Tom and Erica's wedding (can't remember if he officiated or if he did the homily) in '78. I'm guessing he was someone that Tom confided in.
  10. I like classic movies, but my favorite era really depends on the genre/style. Generally, I'll go for anything from the 60s and 70s.
  11. So, is the show worth tuning into now with Sharon back? What other storylines are going on right now? I haven't watched with any regularity in over a year, and the sudden influx of Moons from last summer really turned me off (even though the Moons' moons were supposed to be turn ons...). I kinda miss the show, but I know it'll feel weird with Pat gone and Janine on break.

  13. I love New Orleans.
  14. Yeah, I'd say Laura's rape should have at least been a two-parter.
  15. Thanks, Carl and Matt! I'd read about the Olympics tie-in storyline, and I figured it had to do with that. EE spoiler/teaser pics can be so bizarre when taken out of context, even for someone who's familiar with the show! I love me some Billy, so I might track down the episode (or at least the Red Button scenes) when they air. Speaking of Red Button, whenever it's brought up, my mind goes back to this masterpiece of a scene between Janine and Stacey:
  16. I saw a picture on Facebook of Billy running in his underwear with his pants around his ankles. Good or bad?
  17. I've been going through Season 1 at a snail's pace, but I finally got to part one of "Bottom of the Bottle" today, and I'll hopefully finish it up tomorrow (and then on to Season 2, which I've already watched a good bit of). OK, it's been a while since I've seen the DALLAS episodes that directly lead into the beginning of Knots, and as far as Gary's alcoholism is concerned...was he always presented as a "0 to 60" angry drunk? The way he basically bit Val's head off after the party, even though she was actually being very mature about wanting to go to bed (especially considering Gary had WORK the next morning!), was bizarre, and then the way he kept writing his nighttime odyssey off as "three drinks" was even more ridiculous, and no one thought to shut him down by explaining that he'd ended up in the company of a prostitute (Mary Williams lol) and then got his ass whooped in a bar. I had to side with Val when she went off on Sid, because he really could have done a little more to prevent Gary from spiraling out of control, but I guess in the end, it all falls at Gary's feet. I did enjoy the dynamics of the two other older couples rallying around Val to make sure she was all right, and I loved how Val stood up and took an active role in finding Gary both times. I've never seen any Knots post-1983 (and only a few episodes from seasons 3-4), so I'm not used to the "poor Val" trope. First season Val is naive sometimes, but she's stronger than others give her credit for. The Sylvie stuff is hilarious. Kenny is a loser, and poor Ginger, she's trying to stand up for herself, but she's still too weak. I'm hoping/assuming some of the other neighbors get into that story and put Kenny in his place. And Sylvie? Quintessential whore who wants to be a housewife. On the whole, I really really liked the first season. The pilot's one of my favorite episodes (why Annie was never brought back is beyond me), and I'd say some of the other stronger ones are "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Home is for the Healing," "Civil Wives," "Courageous Convictions," and now, "Bottom of the Bottle."
  18. I love HL, but Laura Leighton is the real reason why this show came alive in '93.
  19. Yes, Janine's grandmother! If you have the time, KSlater, you must go back and view any and all clips of Heather Chasen as Lydia!
  20. I haven't watched in ages, but I'm pretty sure the only young blonde woman hanging around Billy right now would be his granddaughter. One of his girlfriends from a long time ago was on the show for a while, and it was revealed that she'd given birth to Billy's child, and then their granddaughter through that child came to the Square. Janine is with Michael, who is one of Alfie's cousins.
  21. I love this dramatic song. "I watched television until television went off."
  22. Dr. Nick was one of my favorites!! RIP to Mr. Nolan. One of the most iconic parts of Dynasty will always, always, always be the wardrobe, and that's all thanks to him. I never realized he won an Emmy for it, but it was much deserved.
  23. I never realized this Stevie Wonder song was written way back in the 60s and actually recorded by Tammi Terrell before he recorded and released his in the early 80s.
