  1. I have no trouble at all believing that everything she says is true. Hazel was constantly on the sidelines and even though she was a great presence as a sidekick-type character, there's no reason why she shouldn't have commanded more of the action. I wouldn't necessarily say the other black characters were given stereotypical stories, though. Liberty's pregnancy was the only "negative" aspect of her or Jimmy's characters, and Jimmy was definitely written as the all-American (all-Canadian?? lol) dream boy jock that all the girls loved and all the boys envied. I'd say DTNG did well with race, but they could have done better, of course. Toby rarely had his own storylines, either, especially after they grew up a bit.
  2. This woman lights my heart and soul!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXFQF6OqT48
  3. It's not that I think Corrie sold out or that I watched it when it was "cool." It's just that I like the 70s stuff better, and I wish the current episodes were more like the show's first 30 years. It's nice that you like the current storylines, though. I watched an ep a few months ago and enjoyed it, but I've been too busy to keep up with it. I do suggest watching some of the older episodes that we're so lucky to have easy access to, though. There are tons on YouTube.
  4. Jesse! He enchanted my little 11-year-old heart on that summer's day 12 years ago, and I wouldn't be here without him
  5. Not sure how recent this update is, but Patricia Bruder (ATWT's Ellen) currently specializes in officiating at gay weddings in New York. http://www.purpleunions.com/usa/nynycity.html You have to scroll down a bit or just search for her name.
  6. I'll have to give those episodes a watch, Carl! While poking around Hulu looking for AMC/OLTL information, I gave a look to the Corrie page there, and I have to just laugh at some of the comments there. "After watching seven episodes on Hulu, I'm done with American soaps. Coronation Street puts them all to shame." People are such hipsters. Corrie is just the same as the American soaps now, just shinier and prettier settings and "normal"-looking (said as pretentiously as possible) actors. I'd venture to say Corrie is worse off than DAYS at the moment.
  7. *sigh* That wasn't the work of BK, was it? Has his material started airing yet? As always, I'm in the mood for getting into a British soap again, but none of them seem very promising right now. I might just stick to reruns of Take the High Road on YouTube.
  8. So what's this I hear about JP coming back and immediately succumbing to Brendan's womanly wiles?
  9. You can watch them online at Noggin's website, which is how I've been watching. Or was...I need to catch up on the last three.
  10. Now of course I can't find a pic that looks similar to Wendy's hair lol You can sorta see it here, but Wendy's is much much longer. And I did not realize how screwed up Marlo's face was. Come to think of it, their hair looks very VAGUELY similar. I know nothing about hair
  11. It looks like Marlo Thomas's more recent hair.
  12. YES, absolutely. I just read a headline for this story that says she's leaving after 16 years, and I was just dumbfounded for a second. But I remember when this show first premiered... Damn.
  13. I never saw any of the webisodes, unfortunately. I'm not surprised at all that they brushed off Sean/Ellie in favor of Sean/Emma. I never outright hated Sean/Emma, but I feel that he had much more growth and maturation with Ellie. They were on the same level, whereas Sean always seemed to be forcing himself to be a part of Emma's world. I'll always love the fact that they kept going back to this, though:
  14. OMG THANK YOU in regards to Alex Steele as Angie. That made NO SENSE to me. I believe Pat Mastroianni is done with Joey and the show, but still! That was the perfect opportunity to literally call this Degrassi: The Next Generation: The Next Generation. DTNG jumped off with Spike's daughter, and it should have continued with Joey's. Ugh. Re: Paige. Nothing makes me happier or screams Degrassi TNG more than Paige Michalchuk and the Sexkittens. Yick was one of my favorites on DJH!! He was the perfect combination of Joey's charm and Arthur's average Joe qualities. Stephanie Kaye can eat sh!t, though.
  15. She looks GREAT!
  16. What...in holy hell...is that?
  17. I didn't mind them focusing on Sean immediately after the shooting because it played into his storyline and characterization at that point. I think they did a good job with showing the conflict that characters like Toby felt about Rick dying, especially with Toby and JT going to his funeral and offering their condolences to his mom.
  18. OK, so I watched it. The acting was WAY better than I thought it would be. Just about everyone brought it, especially Dallas and Eli. I love that Clare was only on for a brief moment of the episode. I wish we would have seen more of Cam before he killed himself, but I guess they wouldn't want to be accused of being a "how-to video" for teen suicide. The reactions were heartbreaking, and I loved the little touches on taking little moments to focus on various people from Cam's storylines, like when they showed Tristan sitting on the wall. I'd say my favorite scene was actually the one with Eli and that other guy at home with the popcorn. Eli's definitely grown into one of the more enjoyable characters, and it's interesting how he's responding to being "the one" to find the body. This little two-parter was different from previous Degerassi tragedies, it seems. When JT died, it was all about JT and how his friends felt about losing him. With Campbell, it was more about how his friends reacted and where they all placed the blame. Two very different deaths, of course, but interesting to see how they were covered differently.
  19. I'm not crazy about the name, either, and long ago thought they should have called her Manuela once she "matured." SFK, I believe I'm gonna get back into Degrassi Junior High and High soon. I really did enjoy the first season, which I watched 2 and a half years ago, but I'm so lazy and slow with watching stuff. Considering it's so easy to get your hands on episodes, I might as well continue through. I'm eager to see them as high schoolers.
  20. Yeah, I only liked Ashley for a very brief period in the early, early seasons, before the show really got good in S3. She was just a mopey mess from then on, it was obvious Melissa McIntyre was over doing the show, etc. I'd have rather them killed her off than write Terri out. Spinner/Manny made no sense, but anything that pitted Degrassi's greatest bitches, Manny and Paige, against each other was fine with me.
  21. Riley was the Greek with the fugly hair that only looked good when he cut it for half-a-season. Popped-collar Marco embodies everything I loved about that character early on. Ol' fine Italian ass. They saddled him with Paige's boring brother when they should have had him seeing a star athlete from another school. My definitive Degrassi pairings for the old crew would be Manny/Craig, Hazel/Jimmy, Ellie/Sean, Paige/Spinner, Liberty/JT, and clearly they should have put Emma and Toby together. !@#$%^&*] Ashley, I hated her.
  22. LMFAO!! How about him beating the crap out of the CPR teacher......who just happened to be gay.
  23. I was NOT a Zane/Riley fan. AK was a horrible actor, and the story was just so inconsistent and full of holes. Granted, I only watched the beginning through to them becoming a couple, so I can't speak on anything after that. I loved Marco until they graduated.
  24. I watched the first part of Bittersweet Sympathy this morning and got very invested in the stories, particularly with Cam/Maya/Zig, and it looks like it doesn't turn out so well for Cam! Jeez, Degrassi, I appreciate you going there, but damn. Can't wait to watch, though. I would try to watch some of the previous eps of this season, but that would take me forever. Truly, though, I was able to watch the entire half-hour and enjoy it all the way through. Never thought I'd be so interested in Degrassi again. How long does it take for them to put the new episodes on their site?
