  1. Nicole Paggi (“Hope & Faith”) was back in Port Charles as Maxie Jones on the Thursday, July 3 episode of “General Hospital.” Reportedly, Paggi is stepping in for the character’s regular portrayer, Kirsten Storms, for at least three episodes due to the actress having a scheduling conflict, according to TV Insider, citing a show spokesperson who confirms the casting change is only temporary. The outlet also notes that, due to the show’s taping schedule, which involves filming multiple episodes a day and sometimes out of order, the next episodes featuring Paggi as Maxie are set to air on Wednesday, July 30 and Wednesday, August 13. Storms will be back in the role sometime during the week of August 18-22, 2025. The last time viewers saw Paggi on the show was in January 2024, when she filled in for Storms for two episodes, the first of which aired December 27, 2023 and the second airing January 5, 2024. Incidentally, confusion ensued during that time as Storms appeared in at least one episode in between In a post on Instagram at the time, Paggi commented on her debut on the series, saying, “So fun playing Maxie Jones on ‘General Hospital!’” In addition to her post, she also shared several screenshots of her appearance on her Instagram Stories timeline. Paggi is the third actress to temporarily play Maxie Jones on the daytime drama series while Storms was unavailable. Jen Lilley (“Days of our Lives”) stepped in for several months from 2011-2012, and Molly Burnett (“Days of our Lives”) filled in for a couple of episodes in July 2016 and again in June 2018. For those wondering where they might have seen Paggi before, the actress had roles on such shows as “Pasadena,” “Providence,” “Fastlane” and “Judging Amy” before making a name for herself in 2003 as the first Sydney Shanoweski on the Kell Ripa/Faith Ford starring sitcom “Hope & Faith.” Starting with season two of the series, the role of Sydney was recast with relative newcomer Megan Fox taking over the role as the family’s eldest daughter. In 2005, Paggi booked a series regular role in the fifth and final season of UPN’s “One on One.” Since then, Paggi has appeared in episodes of “90210,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” “9-1-1,” and more recently, “The Rookie: Feds.” ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  2. ABC quietly rebranded “GMA3: What You Need to Know” to simply “GMA3,” keeping things more streamlined for the third hour of “Good Morning America.” As a result, the retitled news hour saw its best performance among Total Viewers in seven weeks, best Women 25-54 rating in 12 weeks (since week of March 31-April 4, 2025) and best Women 18-49 rating in 10 weeks (since week of April 14-18, 2025) during the week of June 23-27, 2025. With 1.275 million viewers tuning in, “GMA3” topped its afternoon news competition – “NBC News Daily” (1.081 million) – among Total Viewers and in the key demos, while staying close to year ago levels across the board among Total Viewers (1.275 million vs. 1.291 million), Households (0.8 rating vs. 0.9 rating), Women 18-49 (0.15 rating vs. 0.16 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.22 rating vs. 0.25 rating). Although the network has not formally announced the departure of DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim as co-anchors, a position they’ve held since the exit of Amy Robach adn T.J. Holmes in 2023, Rebecca Jarvis and Will Reeve have been co-anchoring the program since the June 20, 2025 broadcast from the show’s new studio at 7 Hudson Square with Rhiannon Ally, Dr. Tara Narula and “Good Morning America” chief meteorologist Ginger Zee also appearing. "TODAY with Jenna & Friends" NBC News All in, the new “GMA3” is off to a decent start. Meanwhile, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” once again set a new series low among Total Viewers, down -85,000 viewers week-to-week (1.095 million vs. 1.180 million) and down -236,000 year-over-year (1.095 million vs. 1.331 million). Since the departure of Hoda Kotb as co-host in January, the fourth hour of the “TODAY” brand has ultimately seen a collapse in viewership with the show only slightly ahead of “NBC News Daily” among Total Viewers (1.095 million vs. 1.081 million) while losing to the news hour outright among TV households (0.72 rating vs. 0.74 rating). She later won the Best Actress at the Soap Opera Digest Awards in 2001 and received four Soap Opera Update Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996. Scott began her career at age three. From tormenting Erica while attempting to seduce Dimitri Marick (the late Michael Nader), Kendall became a prominent fixture in Pine Valley as she went on to embrace her Kane heritage and create a bond with both her mother and her sister, Bianca Montgomery. In 1995, Gellar won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Kendall. After just two and a half years on the soap, she exited the series in July 1995. By 1997, she would go on to receive global recognition for her role as Buffy Summers in the hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which ran for seven seasons, five on The WB and the last two on UPN. In total, there were 144 episodes produced of the series, which is currently eyeing a reboot on Hulu. In 2024, Gellar returned to television with a starring role in the Paramount+ original series, “Dexter: Original Sin.” Outside of television, Gellar is known for playing several memorable characters, including in the films “Cruel Intentions,” “Scream 2,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the “Scooby-Doo” movies and “The Grudge.” Demi Moore Receiving her first-ever Oscar nomination earlier this year for her memorable portrayal as a fading Hollywood star seeking a younger, idealized version of herself through a sinister substance in the film “The Substance,” Demi Moore is best known to soap fans for her role as Jackie Templeton on ABC’s “General Hospital.” Although the series was not her first acting gig, she became a fixture in Port Charles from 1982-1984 before going on to appear in numerous films including “Ghost,” “A Few Good Men,” “Indecent Proposal,” “Disclousure,” “The Scarlet Letter,” “The Juror,” “Strip Tease” and “G.I. Jane,” among others. 5. 6. As expected, nominations for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” are set to be announced on Thursday, July 10, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the governing body behind the awards, confirmed on Wednesday. The announcement of which of your favorite daytime stars and shows will be nominated for their work during calendar year 2024 will be made at noon ET/9:00 a.m. PT on X (formerly Twitter) via the handle @TheEmmys and on TheEmmys.TV, the official website for NATAS. Earlier this year, it was announced that this year’s telecast would take place in October, swapping the ceremony and submission timeline with “The 46th Annual News & Doc Emmy Awards,” which took place last week. New categories being introduced this year include Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, and the splitting of the Culinary Series category into two separate categories, as well as splitting the Travel, Nature and Adventure category into different lines. The new Culinary Series categories are Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series (at least 51% focus on the “how-to” of cooking, e.g., recipes, equipment, techniques, etc) and Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series (at least 51% on the culture of food, e.g., food/beverage tours, restaurants, cultural and ethnic dining, etc). As for the new Travel, Nature and Adventure categories, they include Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program (at least 51% focus on travel, e.g., destinations, forms of travel, exploration, thrill-seeking, etc) and Outstanding Nature and Science Program (at least 51% focus on interaction with and research on the natural world, including weather, animals, natural disasters, and climate). After announcing the elimination of the Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category last year, this year, the organization is announcing the elimination of the Outstanding Original Song category. No reason was cited for the elimination, but considering the dwindling number of nominees in the category, it makes sense for the organization to eliminate it. New daytime drama series "Beyond the Gates" as well as its cast and crew are ineligible for a nomination for this year's awards due to the show premiering during calendar 2025. Nominations for "The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" are for calendar year 2024 (January-December) only. "The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards," set to take place in 2026, will see the new CBS soap opera eligible based on calendar year 2025. For more information on the changes that were made for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” check out our full breakdown here. Last year’s telecast of “The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” on CBS set a four-year high among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, the key sales demographic for primetime television. Factoring in delayed ratings, the awards show averaged 3.195 million viewers, emerging as the largest telecast in 13 years — since Sunday, June 19, 2011, when CBS aired “The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.” https://twitter.com/DaytimeEmmys/status/1940520540252545062 ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.

Meanwhile, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” is compared with the performance of its predecessor, “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” With the game show airing amended repeats, demos for “Let’s Make a Deal” were not reported by Nielsen, although Households and Total Viewers were available. 8. Hank Northrop, whose casting was first announced in February of this year, is set to make his “Days of our Lives” debut at the end of October, a representative for the daytime drama series has confirmed to Soap Opera Network, although character and storyline details remain under wraps. Northrop is the son of “General Hospital” star Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) and the late Wayne Northrop, who played the iconic role of Roman Brady on “Days of our Lives” from 1981-1984 and again from 1991-1994. From 2005-2006, the Elder Northrop returned to the series once more but took on the new persona of Dr. Alex North as Roman had already been recast with actor Josh Taylor since 1997. “I did the audition and I felt good about it, but my focus was on my father,” the younger Northrop recalled in an interview with TV Insider, thinking back to the time when he was mourning the loss of his dad, who passed away on November 29, 2024. “It kind of took the back burner in my mind. And then I got a callback and didn’t hear for a little bit. And then the most magical thing happened on my birthday, January 9. I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked ‘Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears.” “It was so cosmic. It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing,” shared Northrop to the outlet at the time. “You can’t script it. It gave me the ability to cope with it a little more. It was just such a beautiful full-circle moment and I thank [executive producer] Ken Corday, [then co-executive producer] Janet Spellman-Drucker, [casting director] Marnie Saitta, and the production team.” Fans can expect Northrop to interact in scenes with James Reynolds (Abe Carver), one of his dad’s most popular scene partners, when he makes his Salem debut later this year. “What a legend,” Northrop commented in his TV Insider interviews. “First of all, it was so cool because he and my dad had such a great working relationship, and they didn’t tell him that I was coming on to work with him. So when I saw him for the first time, he just lit up. My dad always said, ‘James has the best laugh you’ll ever hear,’ and I finally got to hear it in person. This man just lights up the room. He was so kind to me. We honestly couldn’t stop hugging each other. We kind of holding up production a little bit because we were just wanting to connect, and he was just like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you’re Wayne’s son. This is the best thing. I’m so excited. I loved your dad so much.’ I could not ask for a better first scene partner on ‘DAYS.’ He took me under his wing and taught me the ropes.” As for what his mom had to say about his joining the soap opera, Northrop said, “She has been so supportive. She gave me so much great advice before my first day and gave me so many tips heading into it. She’s been the best support system I could possibly ask for. I feel so privileged and so honored to have her in my life, as I’m now embarking on my ‘DAYS’ journey, because, what better reference point than a woman who’s been doing the genre for almost 40 years now?” Speaking of Lynn, in an interview with Woman's World, the actress told the outlet of an experience in April when she and her son had the same call time at their respective soaps, with her taping episodes of the Nurses Ball. She said, “To have your son doing what you love and what has given you such a wonderful life…I had to wipe my makeup a little bit that morning, because it just broke my heart that he now gets to do what he’s so in love with—and he just really believes his dad’s watching him do all this. He’s so proud, and so am I!” Before joining “Days of our Lives,” Northrop’s other television credits include a memorable role in the pilot episode of “The Morning Show,” starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and he has appeared in multiple episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Northrop will appear in at least one episode of the upcoming Paramount Network series, “The Madison,” a spinoff of “Yellowstone,” which stars Michelle Pfeiffer in the neo-Western created by Taylor Sheridan. The series, which follows a New York family dealing with the loss of a loved one while vacationing in rural Montana, is set to release in 2026 and will also be available to stream on Paramount+. ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  9. No worries. Thanks for clarifying.
  10. Jazmen and Lynn's scripts will air through the remainder of 2025, if not the early part of January 2026.
  11. Just adding that Beyond the Gates is currently 6-7 months ahead in terms of scripts, which is about 2-3 months ahead of taping. Therefore, feedback won't be reflected on-screen until September at the earliest.
  12. While an official reason for airing a week of repeats remains a mystery, a representative for “Beyond the Gates” confirms to Soap Opera Network that original episodes of the daytime drama series are set to return on Monday, July 7. Last week, fans were stunned to learn that for the second time since the show’s debut in February, CBS scheduled last-minute repeat episodes of the series to air during the week of June 30-July 4, 2025, despite continuing with plans to air all-new episodes of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” particularly with both shows also airing originals on the Independence Day holiday (July 4th). Before this week’s full week of repeats, the last time the network aired a rerun of “Beyond the Gates” was on Memorial Day (May 26, 2025). Meanwhile, the network’s other soaps aired originals on the holiday in line with prior years. In response to the schedule changes, series creator, executive producer and showrunner Michele Val Jean addressed the matter on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “To those asking: preemption-rerun decisions are made way above my pay grade so no insight into that.” She added, “The good news is the upcoming reruns are premiere week so those of you who missed it can catch up with how it all began.” In a follow-up post, Val Jean said, “Just want to say to our #BeyondTheGates peeps, I love your passion for the show. And I thank you for it.” As the show returns with originals during the week of July 7-11, 2025, fans can look forward to a lot of juicy twists happening in Fairmont Crest as teased in the “next on” preview, aired following the Friday, June 27 episode. At Orphey Gene's, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) meets with Hayley (Marquita Goings), pondering how the two could work together, while at the police station, Smitty (Mike Manning) shares with Jacob (Jibre Hordges) what he knows about Malone (Darryl W. Handy) and Vernon (Clifton Davis). Elsewhere, Dani (Karla Mosley) questions her father over what she thinks is bothering him, specifically if it has anything to do with Martin (Brandon Claybon). Meanwhile, a desperate Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) pleads with Jacob to meet her at the hospital, stating, “It's an emergency.” Doug (Jason Graham) and Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) are stunned by Joey’s (Jon Lindstrom) latest action, leaving Randy to reveal how terrified he is of the casino owner to Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) and her husband. Eva (Ambyr Michelle) confronts her sister, Kat (Colby Muhammad), dragging her as a “spoiled selfish little bitch,” to which Kat retorts, “Is that the best you’ve got?” The preview concludes with Dani’s anger fully on display at Uptown as she witnesses a cozied-up Andre (Sean Freeman) and Ashley (Jen Jacob). 13. I'll have an update on some of this shortly. I believe the 10-month ahead schedule is fairly recent due to most shows' summer hiatus, particularly this month (July). I'm certain they'll return to nine months at most no later than September.
  14. CONFIRMED: Original episodes of "Beyond the Gates" return on Monday, July 7 — still no official reason for repeats this week.

  16. On Monday, actor and AEW (All Elite Wrestling) pro wrestler Anthony Bowens announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he recently landed his first major television role outside of sports, appearing on a soap opera, although he didn’t specify which show at the time of his posting nor did he shed light on the character he'd be playing. “In better news, I just landed my first tv role on a soap opera!” said Bowens, who spent the better part of the day posting updates on his new haircut, which he called the worst of his life after utilizing a new barber. “He thought the birthmark on the back of my head was a tattoo and decided to highlight it,” Bowens tweeted, using several angry face emojis to express his frustration. “IM GONNA WRESTLE IN A LARGE HAT,” he added in a follow-up post. https://twitter.com/Bowens_Official/status/1939814511869059399 In another post, he shared several photos of his new look, asking fans what he should wear in order to cover up the haircut ahead of Wednesday's AEW Dynamite show. https://twitter.com/Bowens_Official/status/1939769256956309887 In his earlier tweet, announcing his upcoming soap opera role, Bowens noted, “I am The Pride of Pro Wrestling,” a long-time moniker he adopted in response to being one of the few openly gay wrestlers in professional wrestling and an active supporter of the LGBTQ community. https://www.instagram.com/p/DLST9gTO7nN/ Last week, Bowens appeared as the Grand Marshall during the Dallas Pride Parade, and recently celebrated his ninth anniversary with husband Michael Pavano. The couple got married in 2017 and, by 2022, they bought a house together in Los Angeles. Speaking of Pavano, on X, Bowens shared a screenshot from a video posted to Pavano’s TikTok account, commenting, “Because my boyfriend is currently a shape shifting TikToker,” referencing the many videos in which his boyfriend impersonates several celebrities including Nicole Kidman, Meghan Markle, and, of course, Blake Lively. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKNSP86B4pA/ While we have yet to find out which soap Bowens will be appearing on, and for how long, let us know what character and which show you would like to see him appear on, whether it's "Beyond the Gates," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days of our Lives," "General Hospital" or "The Young and the Restless." In the United States, AEW programming airs weekly on TBS, TNT and HBO Max (rebrand from Max). ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.

  19. Michael Roark is joining the cast of Peacock’s “Days of our Lives” in an as-yet-to-be-announced character, it was announced on Monday. First reported by The Buzz, the casting news was later confirmed by Soap Opera Digest, with a show spokesperson saying, “Yes, Michael Roark has been taping but won’t be seen on-air until the first week of October. No comment about the role he is playing nor the storyline in which he is involved. Stay tuned!” Soap fans will remember Roark for his role as Travis Crawford on “The Young and the Restless” in 2016, where he was romantically involved with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), whom he met after she began frequenting his bar, Hank’s Dive Bar. He later became an employee of Newman Enterprises, though the job didn’t last after several of his lies became public. Other credits for Roark include appearances in episodes of such shows as “9-1-1” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” as well a starring role as Colton Donavan in the Passionflix original series “Driven,” which also featured “Days of our Lives” star Charles Shaughnessy (Shane Donovan) and alum Casey Diedrick (ex-Chad DiMera). The series ran for just three seasons and produced 16 episodes. Roark currently stars in the Passionflix original “The Black Dagger Brotherhood,” a six-episode series which premiered earlier this month and is based on the paranormal romance books by author J. R. Ward. Check out the trailer for “The Black Dagger Brotherhood” below. ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  20. Are you sure? I just checked and it looks like GH airs at 2:00 p.m. ET on WSYX/ABC 6, the local ABC affiliate in the market, the same time it airs in most Eastern markets with the exception of the ABC Owned Stations. That station is owned by Sinclair.
  21. When the network announced renewal orders for “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars” and most of its other reality programs last month, noticeably absent was ”The Bachelor,” its long-running reality dating show, which sees 25 women vying for the heart of a handsome bachelor. That's because a search was underway for a new executive producer and showrunner following the exit of Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner, who left in March after accusations of a “toxic” and “hostile” work environment. On Monday, the network renewed the series for a milestone 30th season and named Scott Teti (“Bachelor in Paradise”) as the show's new showrunner and executive producer. If Teti sounds familiar to Bachelor Nation fans, that's because he was named showrunner and executive producer of “Bachelor in Paradise” in January. He previously worked as an executive producer of ABC’s “Claim to Fame” and Bravo’s “Summer House,” as well as several iterations of the “Married At First Sight” franchise. "Bachelor in Paradise" launches with its 10th season on Monday, July 7 with Jesse Palmer returning as host. Teti began his career as an editor before joining 51 Minds Entertainment, producers of such shows as “Flavor of Love” and “Rock of Love.” He was also the showrunner for the first season of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” before later serving as an executive producer on other popular reality shows, including “Spy Games,” “Winter House,” “Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam” and “Unmatchables,” among other series. “The Bachelor,” and spinoffs “The Bachelorette,” “The Golden Bachelor” and “The Golden Bachelorette” are produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon. Deadline first reported Teti’s new role. ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  22. Based on that schedule, Y&R will air at 1:00 p.m., with B&B moving to 3:00 p.m., sandwiching Beyond the Gates as I had said CBS should have done since day one.
  23. She runs the CBS/NAACP Production Venture, which isn't necessarily a real studio. It's more of a liaison-type role, at least that's how I understand it. CBS Studios and NAACP produce Beyond the Gates with Procter & Gamble Studios. There's no single studio/production company called CBS/NAACP Production Venture. That said, schedule decisions are made at the network level. Not the studio.
  24. You must be in an ABC Owned market. Those are the ones that primarily shifted the show back to its original slot before the time slot switch in 2012, following the cancellations of One Life to Live, The Revolution and Good Afternoon America.
  25. I believe it was the Women 18-34 and Teens 12-17 demos. I don't ever recall "Passions" being a strong performer in Women 18-49.
