Clearly, I misread or misremembered, cause I can't source it at the moment.

I can also confirm I did nothing on my end either, so it definitely appears to have been an issue on Instagram's end.

Something that has annoyed me for years, and I'm sure many of you as well, has been resolved. I'm specifically referring to auto-merging of posts when you want to add something to a post you recently made. Generally, if you want to post something in the same thread but no one else has posted within 15 minutes of your original post, all posts made within that time frame would auto-merge into the same post. This was often a problem as people would be responding to something you might have said, but didn't see the additional comments you might have made until after they made their post, or not at all. To keep things cleaner and to stop this problem from continuing, we have finally found a way to remove that setting altogether. This means that all posts you make going forward will appear as separate posts within a thread. This is either great news for most of you or not so great for others. I'm not really sure, but I know it was something that bothered me. If this was not the right call, please do let me know. Update: I should add that because the setting for auto-merging posts has been turned off, a flood control setting is automatically being activated, which means users can't make a new post for at least 3 seconds. -- Errol SON Administration

Returning with all-new episodes after a week of repeats, “Beyond the Gates” continued to perform within its normal averages among Total Viewers (1.539 million), Households (1.0 rating), Women 18-49 (0.20 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.32 rating) during the week of July 7-11, 2025. For the week, the CBS drama series once again topped time slot competitor “General Hospital” in both Women 18-49 (0.20 rating vs. 0.17 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.32 rating vs. 0.28 rating). Since the two last aired opposite each other with original episodes during the week of June 23-27, 2025, “Beyond the Gates” was flat among Women 18-49 (0.20 rating) while “General Hospital” saw a decline (0.17 rating vs. 0.19 rating). Meanwhile, among Women 25-54, “Beyond the Gates” was slightly down from that particular week (0.32 rating vs. 0.33 rating), while “General Hospital” again saw a decline (0.32 rating vs. 0.28 rating). Despite the downward trend in the key demos, “General Hospital” did manage to increase its viewership week-to-week, up +80,000 (1.920 million vs. 1.840 million), and saw a mere -12,000 viewer decline year-over-year among Total Viewers (1.920 million vs. 1.932 million), which was the smallest drop across daytime broadcast. “The Bold and the Beautiful” gained +101,000 viewers compared to its week ago performance, averaging 2.545 million, and also saw a gain among Women 18-49 (0.23 rating vs. 0.20 rating). In an exclusive clip, Ducksworth responds to a question brought by Rebecca Budig (Taylor Hayes, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), wherein she asks how being a fan informs decisions on the direction the daytime drama takes, including its characters and how they represent today’s viewers, specifically people of color. Although from a storyline perspective it would make more sense for her to join the cast of “General Hospital” as her former “One Life to Live” character, a “rumor report” shared by Daytime Confidential last week indicates that Erika Slezak could be playing someone other than the iconic Victoria Lord Buchanan when she lands in Port Charles later this year. According to the outlet, while ABC remains mum on Slezak’s upcoming role on the long-running drama series, the actress will be playing a brand new character when she returns to soaps. In this case, appearing as the long-lost sister of Dr. Monica Quartermaine (played until 2023 by the late Leslie Charleson). Should Slezak join the cast as a relative of Monica’s, it would mark the first time since the character’s introduction in 1976 (then played by Patsy Rahn) that the soap opera would establish a sibling for her, considering Monica was known to have been an orphan raised by Gail Baldwin (played by the late Susan Brown) with no direct family ties introduced beyond her cousin Lorena Sharpe Barrington (Shelley Taylor Morgan). Word of Slezak joining “General Hospital” first came to light last month when the six-time Emmy Award winner announced her return to soaps on her website. “Erika has just informed me she has signed a short-term contract with ABC’s ‘General Hospital,’” read a statement released by Slezak’s official fan club president at the time. “At this time, Erika does not know which character she will be playing or when her scenes will air, but is excited to be working again with Executive Producer Frank Valentini and the cast of GH!” Valentini later confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I am thrilled to confirm that my dear friend and former ‘One Life to Live’ colleague, Erika Slezak, will appear on @GeneralHospital this Fall. Best known for her starring role as Lisa Miller (later Lisa Grimaldi) on CBS' "As The World Turns," soap opera icon Eileen Fulton has died. She was 91 years old. According to an obituary posted by Groce Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Asheville, North Carolina, Fulton passed away on July 14, 2025, following a period of declining health. Born Margaret Elizabeth McLarty in Asheville on September 13, 1933, Fulton received a bachelor's degree in music in 1956, with performances in the outdoor drama "The Lost Colony" in Manteo, NC, before eventually moving to New York to pursue acting. Fulton first made a name for herself as an actor in 1959, appearing in at least two episodes of the TV show "True Story." However, it was her role as Lisa on "As The World Turns" that made her a star, playing the role from 1960-2010, with only the show's cancellation separating her from the character. In 1988, Fulton received her first-ever Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series. Although she didn't take home the coveted award, by 2004, Fulton was recognized for her work in daytime when she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at "The 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards." In November 2021, Fulton made an appearance on "The Locher Room" to discuss her 50 years on "As The World Turns," including how she helped establish the soap "vixen" role and playing one-half of the first-ever super couple with Don Hastings (Bob Hughes). Services for Fulton will be held on August 9, 2025 at the Central United Methodist Church. Fulton is survived by her brother, Charles Furman McLarty (Karen) of Black Mountain; niece Katherine Morris (David) and their children, Everly Ann Morris and Easton Lane Morris of Fort Mill, S.C.; and sister-in-law Chris Page McLarty of Camden, Maine. Welcome back! Unfortunately, the SON Community was down for much of this afternoon and late evening due to a much-needed transfer from one hosting company to another. As many of you have pointed out in several posts, there have been technical glitches impacting the Community these last few weeks, if not months. I learned in late June that the hosting company that has maintained the services for the Community since at least 2013 had not been conducting ANY backups on the site since September 2023. As a result, with limited storage available on the server, a lack of software updates (PHP/MySQL), and the server itself reaching beyond end-of-life status, it was necessary to switch servers before the lights went out on 20 consecutive years of passionate soap opera discussion. Around 1:00 p.m. ET, a new hosting company that I chose to take over from the old one confirmed the transfer of servers. However, the data they had was from yesterday, which means posts from that point on were missing. I absolutely refused to allow the site to go back online without all the data being resynced first. That has now been done. I did manage to update the message boards to the latest released version under IPV4. However, there is a newer version under IPV5 that I was hoping to sneak in while the site was down, but there were too many complications that further delayed me being able to turn things back online. I'll attempt that update another day. In the meantime, I'm so sorry it took so long for the site to get back online. I hope everything is working as it should. I am exhausted beyond belief.

Less than a year since joining “Beyond the Gates” as a breakdown writer, Emmy Award winner Ron Carlivati has exited the daytime drama series, Soap Opera Network has learned. According to sources, Carlivati decided to exit the soap opera just as the show began writing work on Season 2, which premieres early next year on CBS. This marks the second major change among the show’s writing team following the exit of Robert Guza Jr. as co-head writer earlier this year. In Guza’s case, Tracey Thomson (“The Young and the Restless,” “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”) was brought in as his successor, both as co-head writer and executive producer, one of eight. In her role, Thomson works alongside series showrunner, executive producer, creator, and head writer Michele Val Jean in crafting the show’s long-term story. Another writer exiting the daytime drama series is Christopher Dunn, who joined the series in August 2024 as a breakdown writer. His previous writing work includes “Santa Barbara,” “Sunset Beach,” “Guiding Light,” “All My Children,” “Days of our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless.” It’s understood it was Dunn’s decision to exit. Elsewhere, scriptwriter Lynn Martin concluded her stint at the soap in June, according to LinkedIn. Similarly, while script writer Jazmen Darnell Brown also indicated on LinkedIn that he had concluded his run at the soap opera as well, he recently updated his page, revealing he’s back for Season 2. At press time, it was unknown if Carlivati’s decision to leave “Beyond the Gates” meant he would be joining a different soap opera as either head writer or breakdown writer, or if he simply just wanted a break from daytime. He previously served as head writer of “One Life to Live,” “General Hospital” and “Days of our Lives.” Receiving nine Daytime Emmy nominations throughout his career as a writer on soaps, Carlivati won the prestigious award in 2008 for “One Life to Live” and in 2018 for “Days of our Lives.” Under his guidance, “Days of our Lives” also won the Writers Guild Award for Daytime Drama for four consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024). He previously won the award in 2015 and 2017 for his work on “General Hospital.” With writing work for “Beyond the Gates” 4-6 months ahead of taping, don’t expect to see changes on-screen until at least early 2026. In the case of Guza, his name should remain in the credits through fall 2025. “General Hospital” star Tristan Rogers announced on Thursday that he has been diagnosed with cancer, although he did not disclose the type. “While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,” read a statement released by a spokesperson for Rogers. “As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family,” the statement continued. “Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever.” Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family, the spokesperson noted.
