  1. “General Hospital” actress Eva LaRue (Natalia Ramirez) is exiting the daytime drama series later this week when her character’s ultimate fate is determined after she ingested a cocktail of pills and alcohol on the Monday, June 30 episode. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, LaRue says she got an inkling that things were shifting toward an exit in January after the show’s writers tried to rehabilitate her character, who arrived in Port Charles last year fully against her daughter, Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), having a same-sex relationship with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi). Natalia’s homophobia was called out a few times by several residents and numerous fans alike. Incidentally, the writers decided to introduce another of Natalia’s children, a son named Marco (Adrian Anchondo), who is also gay. “They tried to rehabilitate my character and then all of a sudden, I have these scenes in January where, because Natalia had lied about her ex-husband [Sidwell, played by Carlo Rota] and broken his trust, Sonny [Maurice Benard] was like, ‘We can’t be friends anymore.’ And I thought, ‘Uh-oh, there we go,’ because that [relationship with Sonny] was kind of my character’s only lifeline.” The romance between Natalia and Sonny was virtually dead on arrival, LaRue admits, noting, “People just weren’t buying it, because they just hated my character so much.” She added, “I was so vilified that no matter what [the writers] did, it just wasn’t a solid enough rehabilitation that they were gonna buy me with Sonny. And so when they finally let that idea go, I realized, ‘Okay, I’m probably not much longer for this world.’” Comparing her experience as Natalia on “General Hospital” to that of her former daytime role as Dr. Maria Santos Grey on “All My Children,” LaRue says, “When you play a character like Maria Santos, love her or hate her, she was not ever meant to be a vilified character. And so it was hard from being that character, being a fan favorite, to being, like, literally hated. The ‘GH’ fans couldn’t stand [Natalia]! So that was tough, because especially if you are accustomed to being rooted for, to be rooted against is not as comfortable.” Though she knows her character was not well received by the fans of the show, she does appreciate the loyalty they have at the same time. “They love, love, love their show and they may not like what your character’s doing, but the majority of the fans that would come on my page were really kind and they would just say, ‘We don’t like your character, we don’t like that she’s this horrible mom, but we like the story and we like the turmoil and the chaos and we like watching it all go down.’ So, they see it for what it is, which is this whole, big-picture storyline. I do think the majority of the General Hospital fans are really good fans because they see the whole picture, and they don’t have to love you to love what’s going on, because they know it all serves the story.” A long-time friend of several of the show’s cast and even executive producer Frank Valentini, LaRue will never forget her experience with the show, saying, “I had a blast at ‘General Hospital.’ I loved being there and I had a lot of really great scenes and I loved everybody that I got to work with. It was just an awesome experience, and I was really glad that I got to stay longer than I was supposed to.” In a statement released to Digest, Valentini said, “Eva’s been a dear friend for years and I am so pleased we found an opportunity to work together!” He added, “What originally was meant as a guest star arc turned into a longer and more satisfying arc, in thanks to Eva’s terrific work and chemistry with our cast. I was thrilled Eva was available to us in this extended role. I wish her all the best in her upcoming projects.” ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  2. If you are watching your local station through the CBS.com website, you are counted as watching content on CBS.com, with the operators tracking what part of the site or service you are utilizing. In this case, watching CBS content through the website. That said, only Nielsen households are counted as watching their local CBS affiliate, regardless of whether it is on TV or on CBS.com, as they are documenting what they are watching at any given time, with notations of how they accessed the content also being provided. Overall, it's complicated.
  3. While the links are virtually the same (interchangeable by changing cbs.com to paramountplus.com and vice versa for video URLs), "ratings" for either site are combined only when CBS touts its multiplatform viewership. Otherwise, as separate websites, they are ranked independently of each other, like CBS would be ranked separately from BET or Nickelodeon in terms of cable/broadcast audiences. If more people are watching on CBS.com (free) vs. Paramount+, that is generally not a good thing since Paramount only sees ad revenue for CBS.com viewership while Paramount+ gets the ad revenue (depending on plan) and subscription fees.
  4. It will now air when?
  5. The annual “General Hospital” fan club weekend will feature two more newcomers this year with Chris L. McKenna (Jack Brennan) and Alexa Havins Bruening (Lulu Spencer) taking part in events this summer. Scheduled to take place from Thursday, July 31 – Sunday, August 3 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Glendale, California, the 48th year of the popular fan weekend will see McKenna joining as Bradford Anderson’s (Dmaian Spinelli) no longer a mystery co-host while Bruening will join Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) as his also no longer a mystery co-host. The Bradford Anderson/Chris L. McKenna fan event is set for Friday, August 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., immediately following the Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller) event that is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Josh Kelly, who recently dropped to recurring status at “General Hospital,” will be joined by Alexa Havins Bruening for their event on Sunday, August 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Immediately afterward, there will be a joint fan event featuring Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn Quartermaine) and Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase), scheduled for 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are 14 events overall scheduled to take place this year, including the main event luncheon on Saturday, August 2, the first-ever joint event hosted by Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing-Davis) and Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis), and concerts featuring performances by former cast member Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer) and The Day Players Band (Carson Boatman, Wally Kurth, Brandon Barash and Eric Martsolf), among others. 6. “Ransom Canyon” has been renewed for a second season at Netflix, the streaming service recently announced. Starring “All My Children” alum Josh Duhamel, the Western drama premiered in April and spent four weeks on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list, reaching the Top 10 in 77 countries. “I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon,” said April Blair, showrunner and executive producer of the series, in a statement. “Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride.” Set in Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country, the series follows a stoic rancher named Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who is healing from a heartbreaking loss and is on a quest for vengeance. With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying the way of life. Staten’s only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), a longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. As the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past while Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him. In the season finale, Staten finally gets romantically involved with Quinn, only for her to accept a position at the New York Philharmonic so that she can keep her Ransom dance hall open after a disastrous business deal with Davis (Eoin Macken), her former lover and Staten’s brother-in-law, falls through. “That’s one of my favorite things about this show,” Kelly says of her character’s choice to put herself and her business first. “A lot of times, the women, Quinn in particular, are not making choices that you typically see in a romance on TV.” As for Staten, he must decide whether to move to New York to be with the woman he loves after the mystery of his son’s death has been solved, or stay behind where everything he knows remains. “Can you imagine Staten living in a studio apartment in New York? No, thank you,” commented Duhamel. “I just don’t think it’s someplace Staten would move … but I’d like to find out.” The series cast includes James Brolin as Cap, Lizzy Greene as Lauren, Garrett Wareing as Lucus, Andrew Liner as Reid, Jack Schumacher as Yancy, Marianly Tejada as Ellie and Philip Winchester as Dan. Season 2 is expected to be released sometime in 2026 on Netflix. ----- This story originally appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  7. With the show’s cast options set to expire on Monday, June 30, and the network not appearing to step in and extend those deals, “Doctor Odyssey” has effectively been canceled at ABC. As a result, the Ryan Murphy-produced drama will not be coming back for a second season, “at least not anytime soon,” reports Deadline. According to the outlet, “sources stress that the glossy cruise ship medical drama starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson has not been formally canceled, and Murphy is weighing creative options as to where he may want to take it next. If the show ultimately comes back — on ABC or Hulu, where it has done well — new deals with the cast will have to be made.” When ABC unveiled its 2025-2026 primetime schedule last month, the drama was noticeably absent, with Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, whose role encompasses ABC Entertainment, Disney Branded Television, Freeform and Hulu Originals programming, told Deadline, “Ryan’s [been] really busy. He’s doing a lot with us – ‘9-1-1,’ ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ [and] ‘All’s Fair’ [on Hulu]. So we’re just continuing that creative conversation with him.” The series follows Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson), the new onboard doctor for a luxury cruise ship, where the staff work hard and play harder. It’s all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. Don Johnson plays Captain Massey, with Phillipa Soo as Avery and Sean Teale as Tristan. Last fall, the premiere episode of the series averaged 13.6 million multiplatform viewers and set a viewing record for a brand new broadcast series trailer, amassing 77.8 million viewers within its first 48 hours, though it was unable to sustain the audience for subsequent episodes. Despite the decline in viewership, the series still managed to outrate other ABC shows among Total Viewers this season, including “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and the recently concluded comedy, “The Conners,” according to Nielsen’s 100 most-watched TV series chart for 2024-2025 across streaming, broadcast and cable. Overall, the first and only season produced 18 episodes. The medical drama ranked 62nd on the list with an average of 7.7 million viewers per episode after 35 days, though it failed to rank among the top 100 on the key Adults 18-49 chart. By comparison, another ABC freshman drama, “High Potential,” averaged 16.1 million viewers to rank fifth on the Total Viewers list while ranking 14th on the Adults 18-49 chart with 5.2 million viewers falling in the demo. Produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, “Doctor Odyssey” is written and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson serve as executive producers. Paris Barclay directs and executive produces. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich also serve as executive producers. ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.
  8. Earlier this month, it was revealed that actor Josh Kelly was off contract at “General Hospital.” Though his new status remained unclear at the time, we can now report that the actor has officially dropped to recurring at the daytime drama series. While a reason for the change in status has yet to be announced, and ABC has a policy not to comment on actor contracts, as of the Friday, June 27 episode’s end credits, Kelly’s name appears under the recurring cast list after previously appearing between contract actors Tabyana Ali (Trina Robinson) and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine). Sources indicate that Kelly remains a central part of the show’s cast, where he continues to play Cody Bell, the long-lost son of Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Dominique Baldwin. Josh Kelly, John J. York Bahareh Ritter/Disney In recent episodes, Cody has found himself entangled with Ava Jerome (Maura West), leaving fans to wonder if there is a brewing romance between the pair, despite Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) being the initial instigator. Cody has also emerged as a mode of support for Kristina’s sister, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos). Outside of his role on “General Hospital,” Kelly is best known to soap fans for his run as Cutter Wentworth on both the ABC version and the short-lived 2013 online reboot of “One Life to Live.” He later starred as Jeremy Caner in the Lifetime drama “UnREAL,” Walker Chisum in the short-lived “Midnight, Texas” and Robbie in “Bluff City Law.” Additional credits include “What/If,” “Army Wives,” crossover episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19,” and more recently, he played Detective Archer in an episode of “NCIS: Origins.” ----- This article originally appeared on Soap Opera Network.

  10. REMINDER: The decision to air repeats was CBS'. No one from Beyond the Gates was aware of the schedule change until afterward.
  11. Nothing relating to The Drew Barrymore Show, which primarily airs in the mornings on the CBS Owned Stations. The talk show has been airing reruns since mid-to-late May and won't return with originals until September. Ratings for Drew and most syndicated shows stopped being freely accessible when TV News Check stopped publishing them last year. The numbers you might be referring to are likely from the rarely sent out press releases from the show, primarily touting its social media viewership over actual viewers on TV. Drew generally averages about 900,000 viewers, which, in the end, isn't that much. At its worst, The Talk was still the third most watched among daytime network and syndicated talk shows.
  12. Though CBS remains mum on the reason for the upcoming week of scheduled repeats, and has never formally addressed the last-minute decision to air a rerun on Memorial Day, “Beyond the Gates” creator, head writer and showrunner Michele Val Jean has taken to social media to thank fans for their passion for the show. “To those asking: preemption-rerun decisions are made way above my pay grade so no insight into that,” noted Val Jean, who is also an executive producer, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “The good news is the upcoming reruns are premiere week so those of you who missed it can catch up with how it all began.” In a follow-up post on Saturday, Val Jean said, “Just want to say to our #BeyondTheGates peeps, I love your passion for the show. And I thank you for it.” On Friday, it was announced that during the week of June 30-July 4, 2025, CBS would rebroadcast the first five episodes of “Beyond the Gates,” each of which was scripted and outlined by Val Jean, marking the first time the individual episodes will have been rebroadcast on CBS, excluding encores aired on BET in March. Last month, Canadian network CHCH suddenly began airing episodes of the daytime drama series ahead of its U.S. broadcast due to CBS airing a rerun on Memorial Day, despite the network airing originals of its other soaps. In response to a viewer who complained about the shift at the time, Val Jean commented, “I hate this too.” She added, “It really screws with the way we construct reveals if one batch of viewers is ahead of the rest. Very frustrating.” After 18 episodes, the day ahead issue was seemingly resolved earlier this month when CHCH finally synced back up with the show’s U.S. broadcast on June 19, better known as the Juneteenth federal holiday in the U.S. A representative for the Canadian broadcaster did not respond to a request for comment from Soap Opera Network. In addition to episodes airing on CBS and later available to stream on Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com and CBS App), the Pluto TV FAST Channel for “Beyond the Gates” has also recently returned, giving potential viewers even more opportunities to catch up with what they missed. As of the Friday, June 27 episode, “Beyond the Gates” has aired 83 episodes since it premiered on February 24. In a recently released trailer touting the show’s critical acclaim, CBS highlights what’s been going on with the show’s characters using quotes from major media outlets like USA Today, Entertainment Weekly and The Washington Post in the hopes to entice new viewers to tune in to all the drama happening in the fictional Fairmont Crest using references said by the show’s matriarch Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie). While “Beyond the Gates” will be airing encores next week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” are both set to air all-new episodes, including on the Independence Day holiday (Friday, July 4).
  13. Despite moving the show to Friday nights in the hopes of generating a few more eyeballs in an earlier time, NBC has decided against a second season of freshman drama “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” The news isn’t surprising as the series failed to gain traction on its new night, particularly as it was the only series left over from the 2024-2025 season to have its fate decided by the time the network unveiled its 2025-2026 primetime schedule. According to Deadline, which first reported the cancellation news, executives had been exploring whether to move the heavily serialized series to Peacock in the hopes of it continuing but ultimately decided against it after going over the financials, citing data showing it would be “hard for the series to grow its audience” on the streaming service, the Friday move did lead to increased viewership on Peacock as potential viewers were able to watch the show over the weekend vs. the old Monday availability when it aired on Sundays after the also canceled “Suits: L.A.” Cast options were set to expire on Monday, June 30, giving further reason for canceling the series. In its report, Deadline noted that the show was “liked creatively and costs significantly less than a Peacock original drama but still, its move would’ve required financial resources from Peacock that had not been allocated and, with the audience projections not high enough, a pickup by the streamer did not materialize the way ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ was able to relocate from NBC to Peacock.” "Grosse Pointe Garden Society" NBCUniversal “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about. As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above. The series starred Melissa Fumero (“One Life to Live,” Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), Aja Naomi King (“How to Get Away with Murder”), Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Wolfe. “Oh, Birdie. You were one for the books. You felt like an amalgamation of every role I’ve ever played,” commented Fumero in an Instagram post that included a collage of photos documenting her experience in front of and behind the camera. “I’ll miss so many things about this job, but most of all, I will miss the incredible group of humans it brought together. I won’t miss the shoes. It’s really hard to make a show. Even harder to keep it on air. I’ll forever be proud of what we made. Thanks for watching.” Fumero’s Instagram post has since received more than 45,000 likes, including those from some of her former “One Life to Live” co-stars, including Renee Elise Goldberry and Mark Lawson. Produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, “Gross Pointe Garden Society” was written and created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, both of whom also served as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Casey Kyber.
  14. You called it within the first 30 minutes after it was announced to be in development! (Looking back at the thread and I found the above.)
  15. No one knows what CBS promised advertisers in terms of performance. The numbers aren't publicly available for daytime like they once were for primetime, referring to the cost for a 30-second spot.
  16. In an IG post following the renewal announcement, Tamara Tunie confirmed the show was scheduled to tape through August before the renewal order came in: I've long called this lore of info trash, particularly as it was also said of GH, where Jill went over budget and took money from OLTL. Until I hear someone with the financials in hand to back it up, I will continue to call it just that. Actors repeating the info doesn't make it true, to be clear. Like the school system, most companies, including the media ones, have a use it or lose it stance when it comes to how money is handled for budgets. Networks don't take money from one show to help offset another. You don't get to go over budget since a budget is exactly that. Using your budget wisely is one thing, not using your entire budget is stupid as hell, and I don't believe for a second Frank consistently produced OLTL under budget, as he would be opening the door to losing money set aside for the show's budget every year. Further, if budget overages had happened and were rather consistent at that, Julie would have been fired long before AMC was canceled. She definitely wouldn't have moved with the show to Los Angeles either.
  17. It was a very last-minute decision on the network's part. No one at Beyond the Gates knew about it. Love the connection. Haha.
  18. Exactly. While the show will undergo a budget reduction for Season 2, as is customary for a show that just launched, it isn't for the reasons people are running rampant about. The first season budget for any show does the heavy lifting in establishing a show's sets, cast, crew, equipment, and all other production-related costs. Season 2 will streamline things going forward. Further, CBS would not air repeats for an entire week due to budget constraints for any show that already has nearly 90 unaired episodes in the can. As I said elsewhere (in another thread), they would have course corrected long ago if there was a budgetary issue. There are several reasons CBS is/could be doing this, and only one or more of them are valid. No one will state the reason on the record, however: Make goods to advertisers (show underperformed in demos based on what the network promised). Like the above, the total viewership is nowhere near what CBS had hoped. CBS is looking to get viewers to sample the show during a holiday week when many are on vacation. The network is looking to run a new ad blitz under the "CBS Soapy Summer" banner. (I'm not confirming any of the above as true, yet)
  19. Just thought I'd also place this here:
  20. Noticeably absent from this week’s episodes of “The View,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg has signed on to appear in a handful of episodes of the Italian soap opera “Un posto al sole” (translated to “A Place in the Sun”), the longest-running series on Italian television, which tells the story of the inhabitants of Palazzo Palladini who are not simple neighbors, but friends, enemies and sometimes lovers. Goldberg will play a recurring role for a "special storyline" over a few episodes set to air in 2026 as part of the show’s 30th anniversary season. “Goldberg’s participation is a source of great pride for Rai Fiction, Fremantle, the Rai Television Production Centre in Naples, and the entire cast of ‘Un posto al sole,’” said the show’s producers in a statement announcing Goldberg’s casting. “I just wanted to stop in to say how happy I am to be joining the cast of ‘Un posto al sole,’” said Goldberg in an Instagram reel posted on Friday. “They know it’s a crazy idea, I know it is a crazy idea, but what a wonderful thing to do. So, I’m looking forward to it, and I’m excited. I know my Italian is not perfect, but we’ve worked it out. Ciao [blows kiss to camera]. See you on TV.” Achieving the prestigious EGOT status, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award, Goldberg famously portrayed head writer Rose Schwartz in the iconic 1991 film "Soapdish," directed by Michael Hoffman and also starring Sally Field, Kevin Kline and Cathy Moriarty, among others. That same year, she won the Oscar for Best Actress in A Supporting Role, playing Oda Mae Brown in "Ghost." Another of her most recognizable roles is as Deloris in the "Sister Act" films. In Italy, “Un posto al sole” airs on Rai 3, a free over the air television network owned by Radiotelevisione italiana. The series premiered October 21, 1996 and has aired more than 6,700 episodes to date.
  21. We'll find out on July 7th, I guess. LMAO. Right. I did find that a little odd, considering how even DAYS has honored the day in past years, particularly under Ron Carlivati as head writer. Maybe next year?
  22. As of this week, the show is roughly 90 episodes ahead when it comes to tape-to-air, so this is not a cost-saving measure. If anything, they would have retooled or adjusted long ago if that were the case. Additionally, unless we hear of some sort of abnormal production shutdown in the near future, there are currently no signs of any changes taking place behind the scenes outside of what is already known, particularly storyline and casting-related. While I do have some worries about the show, they aren't based on what has been discussed in other comments throughout the thread, per se. ----- Forgot to add, storyline-wise, the show will acknowledge all the major holidays coming up like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. I would imagine the scheduling change could change when those episodes air, though.
  23. We'll find out on Monday. If they did, I'd be surprised. This sounds like a real last-minute decision on the network's part. I know they aren't too pleased with the lack of growth in the viewership numbers despite the steady demos.
  24. Michele Val Jean and Tracey Thomson are long-time friends. That's why she's there, not because of Guza, Pratt or Frons. Of course, her credits speak for themselves. Her connections are just that.
  25. Article updated. I forgot to include Jamey's name as I c/p'd from a previous article the names and credits for the breakdown writers. Apologies.
