  1. I just love these people. So much drama on screen and behind the scenes. Monday nights were my night on FOX. Alison and Billy, Alison and Jake (before they got boring), Jake and Amanda, Jake and Sydney, Sydney and Craig, Michael and Kimberly. My couples! The 80s had "Dallas" and "Dynasty," but the 90s, for me, was all about "Melrose Place." It and "Models, Inc.," and later "Savannah," were what made me a Spelling fan. When he launched "Sunset Beach" I was in Spelling heaven.

  3. Thank you for posting this. What a thrill it was to hear Jeanne talk so fondly of the the show, the details, Lee Phillip Bell and how both helped elevate the genre. I've only been in the same room with Jeanne a few times in my lifetime, but I always knew when I saw her I was standing next to a legend. I said to someone recently that they are doing the work of the soap gods, and I dare say that Jeanne is up there in heaven representing as one of said gods.
  4. Personally, I'm not here for Gigi. I was a Jan stan from the get. But if not Jan, I'll take a Widow or Heidi N Closet. Oh, and yes, Jaida. That Madonna song/dance was damn sexy. You could barely tell that was a man in drag.
  5. How has it been 11 years and these people still look the same. My god. Soaps stars have great genetics it seems.
  6. "Loving" was MY soap. My family watched the ABC soaps, particularly "All My Children'" and "General Hospital," but "Loving" was my show. I would even SKIP school just to watch my favorite character, Ava, and her hijinks with Alex and Jeremy. The theme song was just a dream. The only show at the time with a lyrical opening. Man I was pissed when it was canceled and replaced by "The City." Had no clue it was happening since I didn't get the soap mags at the time. Was just getting into it then. The new show was alright, but most of the characters that moved over weren't the ones I cared much for. To me, this is the soap that could be rebooted easily even if you get a whole host of new characters and change the setting. Just follow the beats of Agnes Nixon, and this murder mystery story in particular, and you'll have the BEST 30 minute soap in ages. Just need people who aren't going to shit on soaps with malarkey and sci-fi nonsense to do it.
  7. Another GL reunion on 4/15: "Spend the afternoon with some of your GL favorites on April 15 (Grant Aleksander, Beth Chamberlin, Yvonna Kopacz Wright, Michael O'Leary and Tina Sloan)." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW8LgEr_gBo Also one on 4/22: Don't miss the chance to see Daniel Cosgrove, Wes Ramsey, Emme Rylan, Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright when they join me for a chat on April 22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QxK_eHsL0E
  8. Alan Locher is the show's former publicist, btw. He was the publicist for both GL and ATWT.
  9. The cast is doing a Live stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwm1qIF6CY4
  10. "Sunset Beach" was partially produced by Spelling Television, which was absorbed by CBS. Don't think they'd be interested in any of it. I think with "Passions," NBC knows its a cult classic and is playing it up as long as it costs next to nothing. Before I read the context (didn't see your whole post outside of the sidebar preview on the front page), I was thinking you meant a supernatural "One Life to Live" spinoff would have been a good idea. With that said, yeah, I think Ron Carlivati is good for outlandish, supernatural-ish type programs moreso than the soaps that are on today. What I wish he would have done with "DAYS" was instead of playing old stories again, do the unexpected and make things more character based and more love and passion without pairing up rapists/murderers with heroins. Or rehashing dead, dead, dead, princess storylines, or resurrecting a respectfully dead character.
  11. Before Disney+ was released, Disney noted that the streaming service would be for family oriented programming only. They have set Hulu up for the adult oriented programming, particularly the FX related content. If the ABC soaps were to have their libraries available on a streaming service it would definitely go through Hulu. Ironically, that's where the reboots were hosted for the short period they occurred.

  13. Well, this is an interesting thread.
  14. Also removed the requirement for status updates to receive admin approval before they get posted.
  15. The setting is now on. I kept it off until enough people read this post.
  16. Status Updates The status updates feature on the SON Community is to be used by a member to share random thoughts and ideas only. 17. Invision did something and has reported this issue as fixed, as some of you have noticed. It'll be fixed in future versions of Invision for other site owners soon.
  18. Encountered the issue myself using a dummy account. Having someone at Invision look further into this matter as we speak.
  19. Let's tackle the Ignore User Settings issue that has gone unaddressed. Many of you have said that you are ignoring a user but you still see their posts. Until recently, I was under the impression that all you did was click the user's name and select ignore or something to that effect. Turns out, you have to select that user and ignore them using select criteria. There isn't a one-click "ignore" and you don't ever see their postings. With that said, the setting to ignore a user has been on in the backend for several years, but it appears as though Invision may have made changes at some point in upgrades to how you ignore a user so that you have to ignore them individually based on "posts," "messages," "signature" and "mentions," which means that if you don't have them selected for each individual option they aren't truly ignored in the sense most thought the ignore feature meant. If you aren't sure if you are properly ignoring a user, make sure to check your ignore setting by going to the ignore page: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/ignore/ When there, type in the person's name and check off the corresponding boxes. If you already have them selected for everything and they are still not being ignored, I'll then be able to get Invision to further investigate. Currently, I'm getting the message that everything is okay with the system in that regard. Let me know your thoughts. ADDENDUM: From my previous investigations into this, Invision doesn't have a solution or seems to be aware of a solution to this problem. However, I've seen numerous board owners complaining the feature isn't working as it should on their sites as well.
  20. I doubt that thas anything to do with it. With "Blue Bloods" filming in NY and other CBS dramas doing the same, it's just easier to hire a soap actor for a gig rather than a bigger name actor or a no-name. They already have the training to remember a script quicker than you can eat breakfast and they aren't going to fuss around when it takes a week to shoot a scene compared to several episodes in a day.
  21. FIRST LOOK: Erika Slezak On ‘Blue Bloods’ https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2019/04/first-look-erika-slezak-blue-bloods
  22. Yup. He is. LOL. As long as no one is outing an actor who is not out in real-life, I don't see a problem with this thread.
  23. Peter Porte (ex-Ricky Williams, "The Young and the Restless") is also out. He got married in October in New Orleans to Jacob Villere (pictured below to his immediate right, our left): Note: The above photo is not from their wedding and was captured months prior to the wedding. Another photo:
  24. Love me some BritBox. That's how I watch "Emmerdale," "EastEnders" and "Coronation Street." Too bad there's no equivalent (that I'm aware of) for "Home and Away," "Hollyoaks" and "Neighbours." Sure, "Hollyoaks" is available on Hulu, but the delay is too great.
