I doubt Victor & Nikki coming back will sustain any LONG TERM ratings increase if the darn bloody writers can't actually put together well thought out/well written s/ls and let us viewers in on the secret about what the s/ls are about!!

As for Y&R, I don't think Eric and Melody returning will increase the ratings, because the ratings haven't significantly dropped without them. Nikki is barely on the show now anyway.
I didn't think DAYS would increase, since the main fallout of the reveal was this week. I wonder what next week's numbers will be.

Exactly! I don't even see GH as particularly violent. The shootouts look like little boys playing cops and robbers. That's not what a soap should be IMO, but I'll never really understand this idea that GH is the most violent show on TV. I can name at least 20 shows that have more violence, and much more realistic violence at that.
Poor ATWT. They've even promoted Jack and Carly's reunion, but for whatever reason viewers just are not tuning in.

Teenage Michael being shot in the head (with Guza telling the press that Michael deserved it). Carly shot in the head by her husband after giving birth. Seemingly every other character of the past decade killed off in a violent manner. Claudia bludgeoned to death while holding a baby.
Beyond the violence, there's also the perpetual message that this is fun, cool, hot, as characters now even have sex after committing or being a part of violent crimes.

I'm not saying violent things don't happen on the show, I'm just saying the violence we see is very micky mouse and incredibly fake. It's not portrayed in any kind of realistic way. We didn't see Claudia bludgeoned (not that I wanted to) the screen faded to black as it generally does. There was nothing realistic or graphic about any of the scenes you mentioned. I never get that visceral feeling that comes when I've seen a realistic portrayal of violence when I watch GH. That's not to say that GH isn't run by a very twisted head writer, but what we actually see doesn't add up to a hill of beans, imo.

The problem is, for me, that this unrealistic level of violence just makes it even worse, because it's glorified, cleaned up, all set to a pretty music montage. Guza has done this for years. Like when he had Jason, bleeding from a shootout, go read Michael a bedtime story, holding a stuffed animal at his side to hide the bleeding. This was presented as some sort of touching gesture.
I think it's the worst of both worlds, it's very nasty, ugly stuff, yet with zero consequences.

Rumor has it that ATWT will be renewed. IDK. They better step their game up
Also I am shocked that Days could not get into the number 2 slot in any of the demos
One more thing, It's been a long time where only one soap is below the 2.0 mark.
