Not that this article really has anything to do with OLTL, but I think it's funny that the woman just happened to be watching it as the earthquake occurred at her home in southern California. LOL

4.4 earthquake slightly rattles region

Muriel McBurney was sitting on her bed Wednesday night watching her taped soap opera, "One Life to Live," when she felt a shake. She thought it was the family dog scratching itself.

"But it wasn't - she was laying flat on the floor sleeping," said McBurney, a Tomales resident. "That's all I felt, just a little jiggle."

The jiggle was actually a magnitude-4.4 earthquake outside the Sonoma County town of Glen Ellen, about 18 miles north of Novato. The quake, which occurred just after 8 p.m., rippled through Marin and southward.

Some residents felt a strong jolt, others were completely unaware of the quake.

"I had four kids running through the house, so I live in a perpetual earthquake," said David Stoner of San Anselmo. "I felt nothing."

The quake triggered an immediate countywide search for damage and injuries, but none were reported.

"I think the only thing of note was that the phone lines got very busy as everyone was calling to check on each other," said Chris Godley, the county's manager of emergency services. "It serves yet again as another reminder that we live in earthquake country."

The initial quake was followed by a 2.0-magnitude aftershock about an hour later, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

In Sonoma County, there were reports of falling household items, but no immediate reports of serious injuries or damage, police said.

The earthquake was felt as far north as Cloverdale and more than 80 miles to the south in San Jose, according to the USGS.
