Wow! That's awesome. I thought they did an amazing job with those episodes, and hopefully, it'll keep some of those viewers sticking around.

I wonder how close the show got to GH's total viewers for the week.

I think ATWT actually exists in the BTG universe, too - I think Haley once mentioned dreaming of shopping at Fenmore’s and wearing Forrester Creations and Barbara Ryan Originals when she was younger and poor.

Yes, I think you're right. I don't expect anything to ever happen there but the mentions are respectful.

Wait what about these porn stars? I admit I've always enjoyed cross overs--I liked the sense that the ABC soaps existed in a shared universe (I smiled recently when watching a 1995 AMC episode on Pluto TV and Adam crashed Jamie's little league game, to impress Brooke--and Jamie's team were playing against Llanview's little league team...) Of course this worked better sometimes more than other times--it tended to work better with the New York/Nixon soaps (and of course in eras where they all felt a bit more grounded--you never heard anyone on AMC talk about how there was just an underground city discovered over in Llanview.) But that's partly due to the fact I was never a regular GH viewer I admit (I mean I loved Tracy on The City but had no history with the character back then, although I can imagine wanting to watch GH when Marco showed up there if I had been an OLTL fan during his heyday on the show. Sometimes the connections were kinda bizarre--was there a reason why on Port Charles Ian was Patrick from OLTL's brother? Did he ever get mentioned on OLTL? :P )

They also did the cute if weird bit where Susan Haskell played the Thornhart men's late sister Granya which uh, a lot to unpack.

I'm still sore the soap mag item about Marco returning for Megan's death in '92 (in print in late '91/early '92?) did not come to fruition.

I am probably wrong, but I think Emily and her daughter Alison (who was meant to be in her mid twenties by this time) were both in porn or maybe Emily was a prostitute on the streets and Alison was in porn...I think this led Alison into a crossover with Y&R due to a character's porn addiction. Maybe I got this all mixed up. I was not watching often as my ATWT was long gone.

I agree the New York/Nixon soap crossovers worked best, especially AMC/OLTL (not with Linda Dano involved) and AMC/Loving.

Susan Haskell briefly appeared in flashbacks as Ian's dead sister, which adds unfortunate questions about the Patrick/Marty relationship...

Hayley went into the Fenmore family and corporate history chapter and verse last week, I believe. And yeah, I think they've mentioned Barbara and BRO a few times in the last six months re: Chelsea and ChelseaKat.

How random! I have to wonder about bringing Patrick/Marty even in flashbacks to the PC canvas like was it just an easter egg or did they actually think it would bring in OLTL viewers (I wonder if it was advertised in any way that OLTL viewers might find out about. I've told my story before, that it was through a lot of ads during AMC that I found out the Carter Jones story was crossing over with Loving--a soap I'd never even heard of before--and so I made sure to start recording that. Though of course when Dinah Lee and Hannah first showed up at Myrtle's on AMC in the storyline I just assumed they were new characters. I'm not sure if the Loving ratings went up at all during that time--would be interesting to find out, but it did work for this 12 year old viewer)

Sometimes it really just makes sense. Like, obviously I wasn't watching at the time, but if they needed a male lawyer on One Life to Live, why not use Paul Martin from AMC?

Speaking of, I found it interesting that Irna Phillips couldn't make Another World a direct spin off from As the World Turns due to being on a different network, despite both being P&G, and yet pretty early on Mike Bauer (I believe?) and his daughter moved to Bay City for a couple of years...

Yes, you're correct, I don't remember all the details either, but Alison was supposed to have been friends with Amber of B&B who crossed over to Y&R, and I guess Emily may have visited Genoa City too. Daniel was the addict and Amber's boyfriend. There was even a whole separate web only spinoff called LA Diaries featuring Alison and Amber as cam girls.

SON fans didn't like it back in 2007...

Thanks. I guess that now qualifies as lost media...in more ways than one.

I do appreciate that they were trying web series back then, even if the quality was not there.

The ATWT porn story always sounded so sleazy. I never understood the reasoning behind something like that, especially given their hiring an Alison who seemed totally different from Jessica Dunphy and downright drab and mousy. (The late Marnie Schulenberg was actually great in a role as a savvy publicist on OLTL 2.0, but you'd never have known it from her dreary ATWT run.)

I even enjoyed the week's episodes and the ratings are truly deserved.
