Count me in as one that really enjoyed the Hayley flashback episode. I'm just catching up and finishing Friday's episode - good stuff! I don't watch Y&R, so I don't have as much vested interested, but a tornado will be fun!

I may have missed it, but Naomi and Jacob actually live in Washington, DC, correct? Jacob works for the MPD, I would think they actually live in the city limits.

It's the (fictional) Barrington County.

I think it's supposed to be just outside DC in some small suburb, which probably has a fairly generic name like Highland Park or Brentwood. I believe the closest city is supposed to be Washington DC.

Sooner or later, someone in charge will give a name to the town. Fairmont Crest must be within a municipality, because they have a police department. If the community was just out in the unincorporated suburbs, they would have sheriff's department, not a police department. On the other hand, a few months ago another posters said the police department and the hospital were in Washington DC. I don't think that is correct, because a police department would serve only within the city limits. The Washington DC police would not cross the state line and go into the Maryland suburbs to provide services.

The only reason I think this is somewhat important is that it is occasionally awkward when a line in the script needs to use the location, but the script writers have to avoid saying it. If the scene is taking place within the gated community, then "Fairmont Crest" makes sense. But where is Orphie Jeans? Where is Uptown? Where is the hospital? Where is Bill's office? I doubt they are in Washington DC. I assume they are in a small town, a bedroom community very close to DC, but not within the DC city limits. As you said, the small city would likely have a generic name like Highland Park or Brentwood. They can't dance around this forever, just as General Hospital and The Doctors eventually chose to reveal the names of their locations. It will become more and more awkward to avoid it as time goes by.
