I’m so glad Deanna saw straight through it. Vanessa blocks Deanna in talking about it’s time for honesty and then blatantly lies to her face again. No one believes you loved Doug lady, you literally bash your marriage every other conversation you have as you build up the mobster. They truly do nothing but disgust me as a viewer.

Also @ranger1rg ive made my feelings pretty clear multiple times even just yesterday that I have serious issues with the white savior who is also the devil But is also the smartest person to ever live. It’s annoying as f.uck and MVJ and co. Just double down on it.

I do believe she loves/loved Doug, but we all know sometimes love is not enough. I think they both got so consumed in their children they didn't realise they stopped working/dating within their relationship (as many couples do) until their children were gone.

Iona Morris has experience on a soap opera. She played Tamara Tunie's sister Fiona on As The World Turns BITD.

She is also the sister of the actor Phil Morris, who is probably best known for having played Jackie Chiles (Seinfeld) but for me and many other soap fans, we first saw him on The Young & The Restless as Tyrone Jackson (he and Stephanie E. Williams were really good together)

Yeah, thanks to all of you, I saw she played TT's sister on ATWT and loved that they finally got scenes together on here. Ooooo at her being sister to Phil Morris who has been in sooooo much stuff post-soaps. I continue to find out so much about her that I admit to being so fascinated by her. And while I love the current voice actor on X-men, I do have a special place in my heart for OG actor due to my memories of first-run X-men. I double-taked.

A great find AND expanding on Shanice's family, too. I especially love that she got the right info as well. A gradual info. From a friend of Smitty's to the reveal of being Shanice's aunt to being a confidante to Naomi to her now having scenes to Anita, her introduction has been great old school soap when you have a newbie who is introduced gradually. Bonus...her vibe has been EVERYTHING so far even when she had that Mama Joyce moment with Ted. And I loved her checking SPS.

Kat having to intervene every time Eva is having a conversation with someone is very annoying. Eva has pretty much left her alone but apparently that's not enough.

I am so glad that Kat got someone new to Nancy Drew, because I actually enjoyed the character and totally understood her POV, but she became a little less likable to me when she kept going after Eva every chance she got when Eva was essentially ignoring her. I am all for Kat not liking Eva and feeling hurt that the rest of her family seems to have forgotten everything she did so quickly, but the petty and incessant jabs is giving obsessed and Kat shouldn't be that girl.

-- Listening to Joey the Mobster rail against plastic surgery and doctors in general made me a Carlton fan for the first time. That whole rant was out of the blue ridiculous. Did he have liposuction that went bad?

Wasn't his mother addicted to plastic surgery and that's what essentially did her in - bad surgery?

That conversation between Eva and Joey was not only unnecessary, it was deeply cringeworthy. Eva reeling off statistics about Black men to Joey as if he is the United Negro College Fund. SMH.

Speaking of Joey, I thought he just had contempt for Doug but maybe he has contempt for doctors in general? Or is it is Black men of a certain age or status-the ones he can't take responsibility for "making"?🙄🤨Vanessa just sitting there, making meaningless chitchat while Joey...to paraphrase the words of Niles Crane "assaults [the] profession like a drag queen at a tractor pull". But since Vanessa stood by and smirked while Joey made a cuckhold of her husband, I'm not surprised. 🤷🏾‍♀️

The hair and makeup people are slipping on this show. Eva's wig is at the 9-1-1 stage now- it's time for some braids or something else. And Nicole's makeup is so harsh now, I'm not sure if that's supposed to be part of Nicole's new image but yikes! Sometimes Vanessa's look is severe and sometimes she looks pretty good, maybe Nicole and Vanessa are trading off?

I still wish we got a chance to see Shanice date other people before getting so invested in a relationship and I don't like how the writing makes her look like she has low-self esteem and is downtrodden. Having her constantly comparing herself negatively to Nicole is definitely giving colorism energy. Whoever is writing this, either address the issue head on (written well, it actually could be an interesting side topic) or cut it out.

I agree with @ranger1rg and I see a few other members posted the same sentiments as well. As I was watching it, I did feel uneasy about the way that Eva was essentially painting Joey as this savior. We don't have the full picture yet as to why there is so much resentment between Izaiah and his dad or why Joey of all people would be so invested in his well being. However, it makes little sense that Joey of all people was the only one invested in him.

As was already mentioned, it seemed like Izaiah struggled to fit in with his family's ideals and his dad's expectations so he rebelled. Yet, he had a mother and brothers who seemed to care for him. My hope is that Joey isn't as innocent as they are painting him and the only reason he invested in Izaiah was because he allowed him some sort of connection to Elon. I hate to say this but it is giving artist to close to art again. I feel like someone may be too fond of Jon and they writing is going somewhere that is problematic. Not because a white man helped a young black kid get his life together, but because it is painting his black family members as unwilling, incompetent, or even absent when that is not the case.

But to be fair, Eva does the same to her so...

FYI Phil Morris has a recurring role on Fire Country.

Catch that tea. He stays getting roles. I love it!

Does she? Maybe I am biased, but I feel like Kat is usually initiating the bad blood between them. Well aside from Eva sleeping with her man.. oop

Gonna throw out these two crazy internet theories that make me go hmmmm.

Joey is Isaiah's father...

Doug is not dead.....

I think soaps can and should educate, they always have, but the execution is often stilted on BTG. The way they do it here again feels like an NAACP note or something, literally just rattling stuff off. The dialogue is rarely organic.

It reminds me of when Bill Bell used to have Cricket/Christine rattle off stats about crack babies and other issues on Y&R. And I'm gonna suggest to BTG what I suggested to Y&R: just have Stevie Wonder come on, sing some song about the issue and be done with it.

I have held onto the idea that Doug isn't dead from the beginning. There was no body and everything around it seemed rushed from the accident to the funeral. My assumption was that either Doug was tipped off by Randy and is plotting to get revenge. I also at one point thought Doug and Vanessa might be in on it together to take down Joey, but the way Nasty 'Nessa has been acting it would be hard to believe.

Ol' Doug turning up alive would put me on the floor. They should do it.

I honestly would love it and it would genuinely shake things up.

I never believed for once that Vanessa was playing Joey. There was never a single clue on camera especially after Winter Fest when she was a crying drunken Mess because Joey wouldn’t come. She also tells anyone who will listen that Joey is better than Doug in every way.

I think Vanessa will play him when she inevitably learns the truth. But I don't think she is now or has been.

I loved Carlton and Nicole reading the hell out of Joey. Are we supposed to care about his man pain because his mom liked plastic surgery too much?

The more they try to sell us on Joey's good qualities, the worse he comes across.

I never believed it either. Those ideas all came from people who didn't want to believe that Vanessa could be this level of trash.

I don't think there's any chance Doug is alive, either. I can't believe any actor would agree to being on ice for a year so he could make a surprise return.

Usually, I'm not a fan of a "back from the dead" storyline but written well...one of the best stories I've ever seen on a soap was the return of James Stenbeck. The character "died" falling out of a plane (we actually saw him fall) and three years later, he returns, ironically to save his ex-wife (that he practically tortured when they were married) from being sexually assaulted as well as a former lover who he cheated on his ex-wife with, a pregnant policewoman who nearly met her end while trying to save his ex-wife. They kept it a complete secret, and a complete surprise. I'm not sure that a daytime soap would ever be able to pull this off in the age of social media, but BTG is in need of some surprises, the show is a bit too predictable for me.
