Wow! That's wild, thanks for the details! I'm glad they were able to eventually work through it and stay co-workers for decades after.

I'm shocked to hear the news about Kate Mulgrew and her RH co-stars. I love Kate from Star Trek: Voyager (never watched RH), and I've met her before - she was very sweet to me and called me a handsome man (haha). I just refuse to believe she was hated by so many people P

I'm afraid it is. Keith Hamilton Cobb has even talked in the past about how much he hated pretending to be in love with Sydney Penny/Julia in scenes and about how that affected him as a gay man.

He's gay?!? Haha - shows how much I don't know I guess. I do know KHC wasn't the easiest to get along with generally as he was a quirky guy (from the rumors I heard).

Oh yes, I know all about this... but then have heard from both of them how Kate apologized to Jeri and how they've mending things now, thankfully.

Knowing this helps me understand his performance more - he was praised a lot for how cool he was, and he was cool, but there was also a vibe to me of just not being that connected to the story or relationship. I never really thought the stories they gave them were good either. McTavish, even with her seemingly perennial need to have female characters raped, seemed to get them more than those after her.

Same here. I felt ABCD tried too hard to sell us on a pairing that, to me, were worse than watching paint dry.

It's obviously common knowledge now, considering the Soap Opera Weekly joint interview with Lane Davies and Nancy Lee Grahn around 2002, when Lane Davies joined GH the first time as Cameron Lewis, but Lane Davies and Nancy Lee Grahn had a relationship that went sour, which led to them not even speaking to each other off screen. Which was a factor in Davies leaving SB in 1989.

They obviously buried the hatchet and got past things, though.

Was Mason Capwell the same after Lane Davies' departure? No. But two things helped soften the blow: 1) his successors (Terry Lester and Gordon Thomson) weren't awful actors; and 2) NLG shared chemistry with all three.

Yes. I always thought that, no matter who was playing Mason, NLG's Julia still managed sparks with all three. A bit unusual to have that with two recast Masons.

I'd say the same for Hillary Bailey Smith, who managed to do alright with three different Toms when she was on ATWT. (We won't count Jason Kincaid, lol).

I think the stories are what hollowed him out. I've said this before, but tuning back in one day as a kid to see what was basically a Disney-sponsored fairy tale wedding for Noah and Julia made me gawk and cringe at how saccharine and OOC it was for his character. KHC looked like he wanted to die. Come to find out much later, he gave an interview absolutely tearing that wedding apart lol. He hated it far more than I did.

Cobb could be an ass, but he also had real and valid concerns. Frankly I think he was often more suited for OLTL in that period, which was another reason I always gravitated to it.

Lol! I was never the biggest AMC watcher, but I loved Noah/Julia. I did know KHC wasn't very big on the pairing or his role in general.

It's funny because there was an era in the early 2000's where I thought everyone hated one another on GH, but no one has mentioned anyone.

Probably just an oversight. I think some of you have talked about tension between Burton/Benard and Braun.

True. Not sure if they really disliked each other for most of TB's run though. I think it was near the end and over the Alcazar pairing or some nonsense.

Dee gets the "and DEIDRE HALL as Dr. Marlena Evans Black," though. Not even Susan Lucci got that on AMC.

Susan could've gotten top billing if she really insisted on it. However she always saw AMC as an ensemble show. Back in the day when she was a huge star, she never complained about sharing a dressing room (as everyone shared a dressing room back in the day)

Later when Jane Elliot and Marcy Walker went to West Coast soaps, and certain actor would complain about their dressing rooms, they always pointed out that Susan Lucci shared a dressing room, and never complained.
