But seriously. I'd never advocate dumping Deidre, especially in the wake of Drake's passing. She's as important to the show as SSH and her ride-or-die, Suzanne Rogers (kidding!). But I do believe that DAYS should give Marlena a new love interest at some point, after an appropriate mourning period, even if that relationship will always dwell in the shadow of Jarlena.

I actually wouldn't give Marlena another love interest. She's had several great loves, obviously John being the greatest, but she works fine as is. She's not as locked in as SSH is due to BH being her real life husband and that's too much, but I think it's very acceptable for Marlena to be single from now on. There is something nice about being okay with having all those years with John and being content with that one huge love story.

Might be interesting at some point for a new man to be interested in Marlena. She would have to work through that and decide if she's ready/prepared to move on. Ultimately she might decide that at this point a relationship is not what she needs.
