I remember @carolineg (hi caroline! we miss you in the GH thread) telling me Tate and Holly were one of the younger set she would keep not long ago. They were appealing enough to watch during the various memorial/anniversary months last year, even if as a lapsed fan this last decade-plus who only looks in on the show occasionally I barely understand who tf they are. I do like Chanel and Johnny, well, Johnny has nice nipples.

I don't watch enough to know well either. I looked up Holly and see she is the daughter of Nicole and Daniel, two characters we will never see again, so that alone tells me there's no need for her. Tate was likely aged to give Brady more story and for a generic teen scene, but Brady seems overexposed as it is.

Boatman has one of the nicer bodies on any soap in a while. The half-claims that they were going to spice up DAYS content for Peacock were never believable but now they've been fully nailed shut.

I don’t get the outrage.

Tate and Holly are so bland and vanilla.

Carson sleepwalks through scenes.

Now Chanel on the other hand is a character I’ll miss.

I agree with other that Stephanie and Alex should go. Same could be said for Emily O’Brian’s character. Not only is the cast bloated, the characters themselves seem like they’re very scattered. I don’t see strong family units. Also, SORASing like crazy has compromised the future of the show.

Casual DAYS viewer here, but I thought the only dramatically compelling material I’ve seen in the past year or two that wasn’t related to a legacy character’s death was Johnny finding out that he was the product of EJ’s rape of Sami, along with Chanel’s miscarriage. Those are two strong actors, and a linchpin next-generation couple for the show.

I know Carlivati doesn’t have a ton of fans on this board, but DAYS has been dull as dishwater since he left. It’s relentlessly backward looking, full of flashbacks and nostalgia, long-forgotten characters dropping in for brief arcs (Peter?).

There’s no vision, no energy. It feels like soap hospice, keeping only the oldest and most loyal viewers resting painlessly until the inevitable.

And the lack of money is impossible to ignore. Actors crammed in to tiny sets (no more than 12 speaking parts per episode, compared to GH’s 20+), with those same two horrible mugging background actors swapping wigs in every scene. It just doesn’t feel like a professional production anymore.

I’m always surprised to see hate for Leo and Gwen, who at least are written and played with a sense of humor (although markedly less so post-Carlivati), and Alex and Stephanie, who at least have some chemistry.

I’m hoping now more than ever that Raven and Carson both win Emmys for that storyline.

Given my casual viewing I can hardly dispute @Errol if he feels DAYS has largely survived by luck since the Peacock move. I just figured they were more secure after the last few years and the latest renewal, and tbqh I am so used to these recurring Corday purges of the wrong cast while not overhauling the larger show (which is actually necessary, and which Corday will never do) that I was kind of numb to it. But it's clear the budget is at the bottom.

And you're all right that they should've much more massive changes to the show long ago. I see a lot of worthwhile potential in it still when I've tuned in off and on for weeks at a time in the last year. Unfortunately they're once again firing a ton of it.

I was on vacation and just caught up on GH. I'll be back in that thread shortly lol.

I was never exactly sold on Leo Howard as Tate and much preferred the first actor Jamie Martin Mann. Holly annoys me as a character 80% of the time, but I think AP is a real find. Days has a continuing issue finding the next generation and these two characters have led the young adult set for a long time. I don't see any reason to ditch them even if Holly's parents aren't in the picture. She has a solid relationship with Maggie and Sarah.

As far as Johnny/Chanel, Boatman is whatever, but Raven/Chanel is fantastic. To me she's the biggest loss here. I also think it is silly to get rid of EJ's only child/closest tie on the canvas.

I suppose TPTB at Days figured both of these couples could ride off with a happy ending and it was an easy solution. The show could have given Leo/Javi a happy ending instead and ditched Gwen and Cat and saved even more money. Unless Peacock is really considering cutting Days after this renewal it seems ill advised to cut fresh, younger characters.

Johnny also has a nice bubble, but I digress...

It's going to be weird to not see a NEW PLAN TO SAVE DAYS post. But who knows.

I'm just happy that very talented kid went on to quickly star on Broadway in a hit show (albeit a bad one) and swiftly come out. I think Howard is serviceable and has a nice body and some talent, but I think he's too interchangeable among the current mix already on GH to go there. If I was FV I might go after Bowers or Emily O'Brien, but it is a pity DAYS will lose her. And I guess Johnny - I did find that story with him and E.J. compelling despite Johnny being such a himbo.

Howard is okay. Serviceable is the right word. I find Howard to be too chill and laidback about everything. He doesn't do anger well at all.

Carson Boatman is a himbo, but I find him sincere, if not the best actor. He's likeable even if he's dumb lol. Sami/EJ's child should have more bite, but I never had any huge issue with him.

I hope a soap snaps Raven Bowens up. She's often a real bright spot on the show and always looks fabulous.

Puzemis is also quite good and I hope she finds work as well. I feel like a lot of backstage things got in the way for her/Holly in the end.

Again, there are at least 5-8 characters I would let go before any of these four.

ICAM. I just signed up for Peacock again for The Traitors (which I regret- Michael Rappaport is a giant no from me dog) and watched the 60th week. I have not watched DAYS since the funeral for Doug. Even with the lovely flashbacks and nostalgia the show was a mess, but I thought those four were good for the young set. Johnny is a himbo but that’s a soap tradition, especially on DAYS.

I get Peacock doesn’t have the subscriber base of Hulu, or even Paramount Plus if you look at the money used for original programming. But DAYS needs retooling badly and enough money to get closer from tape to air dates. But I wouldn’t have cut the those four to do it. It actually made me sad for DAYS to watch it.

So now, both of Paulina's daughters will be out of Salem. Are they keeping Jackée?

Yes, Raven Bowen is the best of them all. And Carson, well, y'all have said it all. Not the greatest actor, a classic soap himbo, but certainly a better find than say, an Austin Peck.

I'd be hesitant to wish B&B on anyone because of their high turnaround of hiring "a name," using them non-stop for 3 months, and then completely forgetting about them.

She should have been cut years ago; if anything, she should have been a six month guest star, not a multi-year feature.
