Doug3 definitely made me question my hopes for next-gen returns from core families. So for now, I’m holding off on drafting my Horton wishlist and giving this guy more than two episodes to settle in. 😉

As for Jeremy, I don’t think it breaks canon to reboot a character. We’ve seen plenty of reintroductions—some with recasts, some with personality overhauls—and often in far less time. While I suspect his "true self" will resurface eventually, it feels premature to saddle this version with every misdeed from nearly twenty years ago. Characters evolve, and sometimes the show lets them.  For example, Chad was not cool to Mia, but I think he can still be a nice father to Thomas.

That said, one detail did stand out: Jeremy was clearly trailing Stephanie during the High Holidays, which doesn’t quite align with the religious values of his mother Robyn.  I hope we aren't seeing erasure of the only Jewish Horton in the family.

Also, Nathan, and most of the other candidates mentioned don't have history with Steve or Kayla.  And clearly this is a Johnson family story.  A core family, that seems to get short shrift in terms of nostalgia, given how Kayla's wedding is a historic ratings high point.

Great scenes at the Pub with Jennifer, Kayla, and Steve. Need more scenes like this.

Charlotte must be in a cage upstairs somewhere. At least the scenes with Thomas and Chad, then Jennifer were also good.

First time seeing Jeremy, and I was impressed. Good looking and can act. Even AK did decent.

I took a good 3 weeks, maybe a month break from watching this show. Good episode to start back on.

Idk.

Julie having her 60 year old grandson on the canvas might not be the best move 😂😂

Understood. Scotty Banning doesn't carry the Horton name, but I believe Rick Hearst is pushing 60.  And David, if he were still living would be pushing 75.  And Mike Horton is approximately the same age as David.  So in terms of the future -- the Horton name in Salem appears to be screwed.    That's what we get, when a soap opera focuses on on the female members of the core family for forty-years. Still lots of Horton relatives, but nobody actually named Horton.

Whatever happened to Robin?

Someone was talking about this in the AW thread and it led me to learn that Allie has a son...so I guess there's that.

Scotty Banning can always be recast and de-aged appropriately. (Rick Hearst was a good actor even then, but the show made the same mistake with him that it did with Mike Horton decades earlier by aging him at warp speed. For Julie's GRANDSON, he was much too old, since around the time Hearst played Scotty, Julie/SSH was only in her 40s!)

Find a decent younger actor and try again, I say. There needs to be more Hortons on the male side, whether they explicitly carry the name or not. They are still blood related!

Lucas and Will Horton should both be on canvas and carrying the Horton name on as well right now.

To me, these are two characters who should obviously be on the show, especially if Arianna is really going to have a Horton connection. I'm not sure if she's really interacted with that side of her family hardly at all...if at all.

I've always felt like Lucas should be on the show even if it's regularly recurring, and Will should be leading storylines....not Leo Stark.

I’m trying to think if we’ve seen Ari with a single Horton since she’s been back.

As you said Lucas should ALWAYS be on canvas even if it’s just recurring. Same with Will.

The lack of Hortons carrying the name goes back to the original years.

Bill, Mickey and Tommy were the Horton sons.

Bill had Mike, but Mickey was sterile and Tommy had Sandy.

Mickey then adopted Melissa (although she never used the Horton name) and was 'father' to Sarah. The decision was made not to have Sarah be a boy.

Tommy could have easily fathered a son in his absences from Salem but they never went there as Tommy was dropped in 1980 and forgotten.

Bill was  later given Lucas but it took him years to take the Horton name.

As for more Hortons in general, had the show made keeping the family front and center they could easily still be prominent. But throughout the 80's and onwards that was not a priority.

They were more interested in dropping Julie, Bill, Marie etc

Sandy was forgotten when she should have had children as was Steve, apart from mention of Spencer. David and Scotty were both discarded. Nick Fallon and Nathan Horton were retcons and fairly short lived.

Poor planning.

I think the last thing we heard was that she was a doctor in Israel

I said they should give Jeremy a college age son but I would love for them to give Lucas the college age son instead. I’ll never understand what they have against Bryan.

And yes, Leo should be gone (or dead) and Will should be stuck in the middle of a huge mess with Sonny/Paul/Andrew/Dimitri

Now, Salem U has an establishing shot 😂

I enjoyed Holly and Ari's scenes. They have a really nice friendship and even though I wouldn't have minded them fighting over Doug III, I like that they've always been there for each other. It's always good when a character that's going through a lot has someone to talk to. And I suspect that she won't end up moving to Paris after all.

Btw, Tate's a dumbass 😂😂

Speaking of characters that have someone to talk to, I can say the same thing about Brady and Sarah. I like them together too, and I'm glad that Sarah is there for Brady and still is a part of the baby storyline. I wouldn't mind her being the one that forces Sophia to confess everything. I'm curious to see what's going to happen to them, and to Xander in the future.

And, Casey Moss killed it again.

I'm so glad that he's back on the canvas. He still has something special as an actor. His scenes with Jada were very well done and well written. I admit that I still feel that this storyline seemed a little random but the performances are making it all worth it. Both from Casey Moss and Tyler Joseph Andrews. It's real drama and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next for them. And also for Ari, since she and Theo finally met today. I actually saw a little chemistry between the two of them. But, shouldn't Theo and Ari know each other already? Wasn't he babysitting her during another blackout one time?
