This show can't afford Joe Morton.

They have as much chance of getting Joe Morton as they have getting Denzel Washington.

Joe Morton was campy and a horrible actor.   I cringe thinking of him trying to recite some of the drivel that the Duprees have to say during their family gatherings.

Well so much for a realistic soap (I know, that was never the goal..)

I think we have to expect certain stories in a modern day soap and the kidnapping psycho is one of them.

I hope they don't go to that well too often.

As we've talked about , those kind of stories -the evil twin, baby  swaps, back from the dead are pretty much the go to for the older soaps who have to keep coming up with something for their played out characters-Hello Josh Griffith- BTG doesn't need to go there at this point.

If there's amurder, kidnapping etc every few months, it soon loses it's shock value.

Hopefully they will deal with the aftermath a little bit. Not having Chelsea acting as though nothing happened 2 weeks later.

I loved how today's episode was directed. Being able to see Chelsea's different perspectives helped create a pretty dynamic episode.

I loved the Dupree's going into action and the scenes with Dani & Bill.

Allison is scary nuts and like someone mentioned earlier, I hope this isn't wrapped up and forgotten in two weeks. I want this to have Chelsea grow as a character. I would definitely give this episode an 8.5 out of 10.

Absolutely not. We do not need his yelling, overacting self on this show. He was awful on Scandal at times.

Omg the way that man chewed the scenery. I was shocked there was anything left after most of his scenes.

Well, Chelsea will definitely be outed to The Fixer once she is rescued from being kidnapped by a former lover that is female.

Some soap tropes I would love with these characters.  Im wishing we get a natural disaster with unlikely characters stuck together. Thats always been a favorite of mine.

I think this show leaves money on the table by trying to hide stuff from the audience or aim for surprises that don’t land. It’s the whole Hitchcock idea: when the audience knows stuff the characters don’t, that creates suspense.

Yes. I wouldn't mind SOME soap tropes being considered for this show. The natural disaster dynamic is always a proven good one, as we've seen many times with the soap predecessors. The other one, and it's kinda been mentioned ad nauseum, though I think will always apply, is that second family. Not some dirt poor family reminiscent of the Evans family from Good Times, but a working class brood to clash with the uppities aka Duprees. Again, it's one that always worked in the past and it would work with BTG too.

I think we have some viable second family candidates.  Jacob’s family is one as we've yet to see his brother and mom.

I like the possibility of Dante Green being Leslie's dad and him possibly coming with a wife and a sibling to Leslie

I also think Bill will be getting some family. They keep mentioning his dad and we all know thats not just happenstance on a soap.

Hopefully we see some of these playout in season 2

They are overused and date the genre, and often are what lead to it being mocked/looked down upon. I want better and more from this soap.
