I had listened to a podcast interview from around the time the show was debuting that featured the actress that played Vanessa... and she had stated where they were in filming at the time of the interview (scenes from episode 54 to 60).  She also mentioned that they had only been picked up for 200 episodes.. not sure how many episodes soaps air in a season.. but I would think it's a bit more than 200.

Y&R is typically at least 250 new episodes per year. There's about 260 weekdays and then figure your normal preemptions for sports, news, and holidays.

The COVID year it was 177. Prior to that, the last time it was under 250 was in 2001 (248 episodes) and that was with extensive September 11 preemptions.

If I remember correctly it was reported months ago that they're filming from November 2024-November 2025, I doubt Season 2 would start taping that soon. My guess is probably January or Febuary 2026

In an IG post following the renewal announcement, Tamara Tunie confirmed the show was scheduled to tape through August before the renewal order came in:

Julie Hanan Carruthers used to be known for going well over budget when she was EP of All My Children while Frank V was known for running OLTl well under budget.  As a result of Frank V doing so, the unused budget portion was then reallocated over to All My Children to offset going over budget.

I've long called this lore of info trash, particularly as it was also said of GH, where Jill went over budget and took money from OLTL. Until I hear someone with the financials in hand to back it up, I will continue to call it just that. Actors repeating the info doesn't make it true, to be clear.

Like the school system, most companies, including the media ones, have a use it or lose it stance when it comes to how money is handled for budgets.

Networks don't take money from one show to help offset another. You don't get to go over budget since a budget is exactly that. Using your budget wisely is one thing, not using your entire budget is stupid as hell, and I don't believe for a second Frank consistently produced OLTL under budget, as he would be opening the door to losing money set aside for the show's budget every year.

Further, if budget overages had happened and were rather consistent at that, Julie would have been fired long before AMC was canceled. She definitely wouldn't have moved with the show to Los Angeles either.

Do we know if the demos have been what CBS was hoping?

No one knows what CBS promised advertisers in terms of performance. The numbers aren't publicly available for daytime like they once were for primetime, referring to the cost for a 30-second spot.

For me personally, much like the other soaps, I'd like them to get better at regularly posting key clips on their social media. I'm not saying they don't do it at all, but it's often just random clips and not the highlights that go viral on social media.

Got it! I see what you're saying. I just skimmed through their social media. You're right.

Thanks @Errol       for speaking facts about the budgets.

That budget issue goes all the way back yo the early days of Search for Tomorrow.

Mary Stuart, in her book, tells a story along the lines talks of how miniscule budget for  the show was and one producer managed to save some money and was told not to go forward with it, because if they showed they could do it for less, they would get less.

The first week was the best week the show has had so far. Maybe Michelle will get inspired by watching it again. Like Toups said, the writing is only part of the problem.

But that first week spoiled us with the Emotions' "Best of My Love" opening it up and with those location shots. It's clear now that there's no time and money to continue doing that. I admit I was also hopeful we'd get more "real music" and location stuff after that first week.

-- As far as BTG not appearing on the Paramount+ streaming top 10, neither do Y&R or B&B. GH and DAYS are now making regular appearance in the Top 3 and Top 5 of their streamers, so there is NO WAY the CBS soaps shouldn't be in the Top 10.

I have to believe daytime is excluded from the Paramount+ lists, which is absurd.

I was referring to the drama involved in the first week, though the outdoor location shoots and music were great.

Days was in the top #3 everyday this past week. It's been on fire.

I think the Leslie reveal at Ted and Nicole’s anniversary was significantly better than the first week of the show. I genuinely have no interest in going back to that overly bright Dani is a fool and mess time. She still hasn’t grown but the idea of looking back at where she used to be is not fun to me. I’d only watch to see OG Ted.

I definitely think there are many better weeks of the show than the first.

It might have to do with how they measure their charts. Peacock and Hulu seems to do a 24 hour rolling chart, which means that new episodes of DAYS and GH can sneak into them. Paramount+ might do a 7-day rolling chart, which means that single episodes of Y&R, B&B and BTG are unable to make it into them.

ETA: Flixpatrol seems to have a "top ten overall" that they track via Amazon channels - BTG was #2, Y&R #6 and B&B #8 on that chart on Friday:

We'll find out on Monday. If they did, I'd be surprised. This sounds like a real last-minute decision on the network's part. I know they aren't too pleased with the lack of growth in the viewership numbers despite the steady demos.

Interesting. Could the total viewer concerns be related to The Drew Barrymore Show's ratings? The show (owned by CBS) airs after BTG in many markets. I Googled its ratings and a bunch of articles touting its numbers popped up for this season, but they were all dated prior to BTG's debut. Even though The Talk had lower numbers, it was obviously a more compatible lead-in. FWIW, that show is in repeats next week too.

Thanks for this information. BTG seems to be doing really well here.
