Yes! Andre easily could have just been a hunk with no real depth (like Derek) but his character is rounding out very nicely.

Plus Sean Freeman can act, that's why he's not taking his shirt off every week.

That makes sense, as they are both outsiders.

True. The friendship is much needed for Hayley; she has been sliding off my favorite list. Hopefully, this helps her.

I really hope the effects of this play out for a long time. This could have such a ripple effect across the canvas and I hope it does. Ted/Nicole, Dani/Andre, Kat/Tomas/Eva, Martin/Smitty, Bill/Naomi/Chelsea, there are so many possibilities.

Yep. A nicely done umbrella story. But, now that the secret is out, what happens next, Leslie?

lol. We got a great shot at them though. Been given out for much less.

Just caught up and these episodes were absolutely amazing! Ambyr Michelle was soooooooooo good, and I felt so bad for Eva, I actually teared up. I love that Andre was nice to her, that was my favorite Andre moment of the series thus far.

I teared up too!

I imagine the storyline would now segue into Laura's accident.

But I hope they manage to keep Leslie around though. I really don't want her to be written out, or get the DOOL treatment where she just pops up every so often to cause some short term trouble; the character and the actor were such a find.

That was my point really. These anniversary party scenes are the first ones, and now they won't be able to use them (meaning these actual scenes, as aired, with OG Ted). They can recreate them but I doubt they will spring for all the extras to come back and film and recreate everything, so it will be more like tight closed in shots of Ted with one or two other actors, or snippets of Leslie's original speech where Ted wasn't visible. It would be hard to recapture the original energy of the scenes are as they were filmed in their full context. I just think that's too bad, but maybe they will prove me wrong. I never really saw what was so off in his portrayal to warrant a recast, anyway, so that colors my perception as well.

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that

Has BTG been using flashbacks much?

Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene.

What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far?

We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots.

They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes?

Montages?

I know it's not happening but on the surface, there's nothing left for Leslie and Eva to do but to hightail it out of town, if they value their lives. Leslie has destroyed Ted's image, embarrassed and humiliated his wife and children, and unearthed the wrath of the entire Dupree family. She's crazier than I thought if she thinks they are just going to let this slide.

Finally got to sit down and watch. Wow!

When LesDanLuAnn said to Ted, this your daughter. I started tearing up...... Eva got me.

I felt like I was watching a soap opera.

Your posts continue to amuse me.

I don't know anyone else who thinks Leslie and Eva should "hightail it out of town."  And listen, soaps have been FOR DECADES keeping around villains who we know would be jailed in real life. So is it crazy to think "they are just going to let this slide"? No.

It's kind of hilarious to watch you take everything that happens on this show and distort it or lead me to think, "Huh???"

Lol. That comment was just silly.

I feel like The Guiding Light started it when they made me love Roger Thorpe. Leslie is pussycat in comparison and there is a lot of story to go  for her and Eva.

I speculate that Nicole will go through cycles of numbness/grief/rage.  At some point later on, regardless of DNA results (or faked results), whether there was a baby swap or not, I think Nicole will forgive Eva, and eventually love her someday.  Nicole will come to understand that Leslie gaslighted/manipulated Eva.  Nicole will be her loving self, although more guarded than before.   Just my thoughts.

Ted has been icky and giving off bad guy vibe from the first moment I saw him. I have a sensor for that and it was beeping! So...don't put all the blame on Silkpress. The woman needs a good psychiatrist, true... but Leslie is just one of the skeletons in HIS closet. Ted is even a bigger monster, because he's hidden.

IT WAS A PERFECT REVEAL. Perfect, because in the beginning of the show... Dani was envying her sister's marriage... In these first few messy weeks... her own misery and life spiraling was contrasted to the picture-perfect marriage Nicole and Ted seemed to have. (on first glance). What happened now... is very very smart writing. THIS IS THE MOMENT THE MASKS ARE FALLING!

The message it delivers to me is this. It says - no matter how things look... they are not what they seem. You can't judge a marriage by how it appears to be. Aaaand in the long run... maybe the messiest-looking people (Dani Dupree, I'm talking about you!) HAVE less issues and problems than the ones that seem to have it all. The ones with the MOST skeletons in the closets and the dirty pasts.

It was an AHA moment for the whole family and the viewers and a way forward for Dani and Nicole to bond even more and realize they are MORE alike than they are different. Now it will be quite a different dynamic, because Dani will have to SUPPORT someone and not be the one getting her wounds licked always.

And also another lesson. Some men are dogs. Not all of them. But a lot of them are. The difference is... some can't be easily recognized. These creeps have put very impressive masks.

The show is doing this perfectly. Beat by beat. Exploring classic soap opera themes and stories. Real-life characters and situations, that are relatable and make you think... Hmm... maybe I need to dig a little deeper next time I say "these people are perfect" or otherwise. Maybe I need to think MORE. That type of storytelling. It's not easy to do that.

Brava BTG.

Absolutely agree. Nicole's reaction to Ted, and Kat's reaction to Eva, will be interesting.

Oh, really? I didn't see that at all. Ted's only been loving and supportive, even with this reveal I still haven't seen anything too dark from him. Shitty father and husband, sure.

My one nitpick is that they could have accomplished that without having another affair though.
