I am dipping briefly into this thread just to say that some of y'all need to stop giving Ron Carlivati and Jamey Giddens more power than they have over Michele Val Jean or BTG.  I realize most of us have soap fan PTSD when it comes to those two, but you're acting as if Ron and Jamey, and Ron and Jamey alone, are shaping the direction and tone of this show, or that the Black woman in charge is too damn stupid or weak to push back on their more heinous ideas.  Frankly, it's insulting - to her, and to everyone else connected with BTG.  Just. Stop.

Which is why I'm cautiously optimistic about Jamey. Meanwhile, RC...I will see how I feel personally after a few more breakdowns by him.

This.

A breakdown writer only has power to take MVJ's bible/projections and break it down into episodic form. At the end of the day, they still have to answer to her. I don't think she's going to allow JG and RC to camp it up and have it be a mess like DOOL was. I understand her hiring them as they're seasoned and she's worked with Jamey before. She knows his work ethic.

And I don't even mind them pitching ideas to her, but I think MVJ is strong enough to know her vision and know how to rein them in. At the end of the day, this is her baby. I doubt she's gonna allow anyone to destroy it.

That aside, why am I just noticing that the show is being preempted due to basketball?!

I really love the music on this show.

Interesting. It makes me wonder how long Ted and Silk Press Sheila had the affair now after that bit of tea from Silky. But I feel that while she might be lying about a lot of things, I feel there is also some nuggets of truth in what she says.

And if she does want Ron, Jamey and the rest of her staff to "camp it up," that's not to say it won't be GOOD camp, know what I mean?

As you've said, @NothinButAttitude, she's hired them, because they're experienced - and that's what she needs right now, too: writers with experience, because she's too busy just trying to get this show off the ground to have to stop and train new writers on how to write outlines or scripts.  Maybe, once everything settles, that'll change.  For now, however, I'm trusting MVJ to know exactly her vision for her show and how best to achieve it.

Ooo Andre...talking from experience about darkness? Do tell.

Ooo look at Ashley having a scene with her mama.

My girl Dani poured Jack Daniels Black Label down the drain!!!! I don't know if she can maintain that kind of position but I am sure going to celebrate it today!

Ya know, I am kind of afraid that Nicole may be too perfect!

Ashley was more animated and interesting when interacting with her mom.  Of course, we already knew her mom had some personality since she and Silk Press Sheila have friendship chemistry.

Speaking of which, Eva and Silk Press Sheila each have pulled a stunt that the other isn't aware of yet.  Eva having her mama kicked out while Silk Press Sheila did a bit of bumper cars with the assistants vehicle.   I have a feeling this tale/scheme will climax in May.. I feel it in my bones.

I know that a wait and see attitude is in order for Ron C and Jamey... but breakdown writers make sure that the head writer and their vision is laid out effectively.  MVJ/Guza might have a good idea, but if the person implementing the idea is subpar then it doesn't matter how the good idea was.... and Ron C and Jamey don't exactly have a good track record (from what I hear, some viewers haven't been thrilled with Jamey's contributions at Days although the quality hasn't been good there for awhile).

I see what you did there

They are the weak links of the show so far.

Andre comforted and supported Dani. I'm sensing a love slowly growing in two weary hearts.

Why are Andre/Ashley being shipped? I'm not seeing it.

Yep. And she can easily phase them out once the inexperienced writers gain footing.

And I don't mind camp, which the show has already displayed, in moderation and when it makes sense.

But I don't see Jamey or Ron being in the driver's seat anytime soon.

I am not afraid, but I agree. There has to be something more to her, right? I had the same thoughts watching the episode of Nicole being honored. The mystery & intrigue missing from that episode was “We The Audience” should've knew something about Nicole none of the characters knew.

On one of the podcasts I listen to called Nicole The Black Marlena LOL, I am not sure I want her to go down that crazy/split personality/Twin route yet.

This is exactly what I'm thinking! Does Nicole have a dirty secret?

I just bet this is coming!

Nicole as the Black Marlena, that is clever & delightful. Also totally apt. It fits.

-- Today's episode was just ok, and a step down from what we've been getting. Definitely underwhelming for a Wednesday cliffhanger. Y&R was actually much better.

-- The Derek and Ashley stuff is awful, and she's as much to blame as he is. There's no way he'd be permitted to go back to work so soon, and I think Ashley should share her Andre thoughts with a best friend, not her mother.

-- And can Ashley stop looking at those photos Andre took? Weird.

-- In fact, this show overdoes the "looking at photos" thing. I'm looking at you, Nicole.

-- Still have no idea why the show wants to go there with Andre and Ashley. I see no reason he should be interested in her.

-- I wanted more biting dialogue in some scenes today. Didn't get it.

    • No.  I recall there was also a mention about how distracting it was EOB's Gwen wasn't wearing nail polish as well.  That it was someone's pet peeve. And, yes, the fact characters can have a manicure in prison is the wildest continuity issue here.
    • Can anyone remember Mary Ellen Stuart's run as Jenny? I'm trying to fill in the cracks for missing stuff that we overlooked.  Bulletpoints:  * Dated Ross * Rusty's police partner * Directly responsible for Dinah coming forward about George Stewart (Cam's father)
    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton twirling his invisible moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

    • Thanks for asking that!  Back when we had another major event upcoming (a party or the concert), I had intended to ask what everyone here was planning to wear.
