It’s crazy how I’ve psychologically blocked this storyline and even revisiting it today in 2025.

Like anything penned by Higley just doesn’t register as anything I should actively acknowledge in DAYS history.

Well, yes. I've said previously that I think the headwriter is just a part of the problem, but not the whole issue. Before Ron really went off rails I even pointed this out that it might be better with a devil you know, rather than one you don't. However, the Body & Soul story eating up the show for months really solidified that he had to go, but if I had to choose... so would several other people too.

Then there's the fact that they're trying to do big stories on a shoestring budget... I think the reason why the EJ raped Sami reveal is good because it's a story that doesn't require a big budget (even if we'd all prefer to have certain people back for it, ie Sami and Allie, but soaps produced on shoe-string budget have had to make do in the past and so can DAYS).

I will say that I think DAYS have good breakdown writers who usually do the best they can with what they're given to work with.

Welcome back, Shane… maybe.

This is speculation, but I think it’s gonna turn out that this is really Drew, and that he kidnapped Shane and took over his life, and also had a part in John’s disappearance. The way he was speaking to Marlena and Steve didn’t sound like Shane at all. But I really enjoyed Marlena today, and how tough and persistent she was. The fact that she suspects “Shane” is holding something back also fueled my speculation that this is really Drew. And it could also explain why he ignored Theresa for most of the episode. And why he called her Jeannie at the end.

Speaking of Theresa, I really preferred her scenes with Xander over her scenes with Alex, mostly due to RSW’s portrayal lol and because there’s much more story possibilities where Xander is concerned. I wouldn’t mind Theresa having a part in the Kiriakis family storylines. I can say the same thing about Joy. I don’t feel that she’s completely necessary but I don’t mind her being a part of all this

Xander overhearing that Philip and Stephanie are keeping a secret from Alex could be interesting too.

Unfortunately, Stephanie was written pathetically again though and that’s sad. She needs to get her drive and strength back and hopefully she gets it back next month.

But I enjoyed Roman and Kayla’s conversation. Josh Taylor sounded better today lol and Kayla had a really good point; as much as I love all these old guys, maybe it is time for them to pass the torch on and let somebody else be the hero

Color me shocked that Theresa actually apologized to Xander for what she did to him and Maggie. I was also kind of annoyed at Xander telling Theresa that she needed to stay away from Maggie, Sarah and Victoria. Seriously, if Maggie wants to continue having a relationship with Theresa and is willing to forgive her, (I don't know if that's the case at this point), then why should Xander interfere? She's clearly a grown woman.

I was even more shocked that Alex actually didn't yell and scream at Theresa and called her an irredeemable piece of garbage like I thought that he was going to. Although I think Theresa should've apologized to Alex too. Are we sure that Ron is actually writing this stuff??? I highly doubt it. This has GOT to be the new writers.

I haven't seen today's episode. I really don't care for the character lineup.

But Xander shouldn't be telling others what to do. Xander forgets all the hurt and damage he has done to others. He shouldn't talk or throw any stones.

Stephanie, Alex, and Joy are useless characters. They should just have been written off, and I do love the actress playing Stephanie.

How RSW stinky ass acting has lasted on this show so long is mind boggling.

I’m on last week. I can’t believe Brady has the nerve to ask Ava not to file charges against at the woman who held her captive AND then tried to kill her. Is Brady even her actual boyfriend?

Kidnapping is arguably worse than fraud, (even if it was only for a few minutes) so I get why Xander and Alex reacted the way they did, even months later.

But which crime actually landed Theresa in jail—was it the kidnapping or the fraud? Because if it was for the kidnapping, the Salem Parole System seriously dropped the ball by not informing Victoria's parents that her kidnapper is out.

As for Philip and Joy, I like them, but let's be real—they're such losers. Always the second choice, never the favorite, and definitely not the most interesting siblings. Now they're stuck in this desperate also-ran routine, pretending to co-parent. It’s beyond pathetic and ridiculous to keep the kid a secret from Alex, especially since neither of them even respects him. Plus, they’ve just committed to a non-intimate, awkward arrangement for at least a year.

But, there's enough foreshadowing to expect that is what's next.  Like miles away foreshadowing.  Like neon signs foreshadowing.  Like why-not-just-use subtitles foreshadowing.

I thought so too, at first, but then Jamey apparently confirmed it.

Makes me wonder even more if the new writers are gonna change any of Ron's projections

Emily O'Brien's accent was all over the place today, but other than that (and her horrible wig) her scene with Xander was the best of the episode for me. I look forward to her returning as Gwen where she can just talk normally. And what a treat that Mary Beth Evans was actually given the opportunity to act again today. She was probably more emotional than normal because of real life circumstances, but it was refreshing to remember what she's capable of when given even the tiniest of material.

The show came to halt when it was about the Joy/Alex/Steph story. Joy should not actually be pregnant, and Abigail Klein can not pull off acting. If she has no haters, I'm dead. It's tiresome when I'm rooting for the two pregnancies on the show to result in miscarriage.

When Shane or potenitally "Shane" said Estonia, all I kept thinking about was the Conan O'Brien joke at the Oscars.

Caught all the way up to yesterday.

I despise Kristen’s mother. It appears she got the RC special. Bring back an old character and write them completely out of character to suit his needs, because who cares right? He’s using history!

The Ava of the past would laugh at how meek and pathetic Ava is today. She now has to get a gun from Melinda of all people to handle an old woman who’s been living alone for 30 years in a rundown house.

It’s actually refreshing to see the EJ rape come out and the scenes were done well. It never sat right with me that the show and some audience members tried to call it a freaking seduction. Even EJ tried to place the blame on Sami . It does suck that Sami, Allie, and Lucas are all of canvas for this story though.

    • Loved Valerie Mahaffey as crazy as a box of frogs Sandy Cooper on Wings. 2025 needs to chill out already. May Ms. Mahaffey rest in peace.
    • She was great on there. And Wings. And so many shows. I don't feel like we get those character actors as much now.
    • Cady did have a southern accent as Dixie in her first few years playing the character... but it started to minimize the longer she played the character (which tracks because my aunt had a heavy southern accent when married my uncle and years living in the north has softened it quite a bit). Her initial stint playing Rosanna was partly due to mirroring the previous actress and eventually developing her own take on the character. And the thing about her take as Kelly on Y & R was that she was too sedate when she first took over playing the role (she was supposed to play a woman that had recently lost her child.. and trying to keep things together) and then went OTT crazy and didn't play it well.    And I don't care to remember her attempt at playing Jennifer on Days. I think this Pamela character is the first time she's playing a character from the start and I think she's like a kid at a candy store.  She's having so much fun trying different things... and I hope eventually she decides to settle on a more consistent character for Pamela (perhaps her love of accents is a character trait based on something traumatic that happened to her in the past maybe).
    • That's sad. I remember her mostly from ER and the shortlived, yet very funny, sitcom The Powers That Be.
    • As always loved seeing Ric with Liz. I hope the show forever keeps them in each others orbit even if it’s just platonic. I’m sure she’s going to cut him out when she finds out he’s blackmailing Alexis though. So darn.
    • I have to be honest I’m really struggling with this show. I love everything with Eva/Leslie/Ted/Nicole/Kat and enjoy Dani and Bill’s shenanigans (I’m on the Hayley needs to be recast train now tho), Chelsea is second to Kat as my favorite Dupree grandkid and I loved her coming out to her mom. The show was on a truly great run with the big Leslie and Eva reveal at Nicole and Ted’s anniversary party and the fall out has still been good even with the unnecessary Ted recast and them making Leslie kind of dumb by exposing herself too much unnecessarily. The real problem for me started when they rotated back to way too damn much screen time for Derek/Ashley/Andre (if anyone should have been up first for a recast it was these three IMO). They tried way too hard to drum up drama between Ashley and Derek and the actors were clearly fighting for their mediocre charisma less acting lives to make it work but none of it landed, just horrible. Naomi and Jacob and this weird homeless woman story are also BORING. I can see where its potentially going but IDGAF at all, my only hope for them is that they’re building a triangle with Naomi/Jacob/Kat because Jacob and Kat have stronger chemistry together than their current love interests (Eva is the only one who can make the awful Tomas work). Martin, his secret and still cringe worthy acting got kind of interesting with Bill dropping hints to Smitty but they completely lost me with that lil fakeout scene at the country club. The lame “teenagers” (air quotes because Samantha is no Bianca Lawson and never beating the black Andrea Zuckerman allegations) can get off my screen as well. Joey creeping on Vanessa is grossing me out at this point, I actually quite like Vanessa and Doug now but Joey falls totally flat as a villain and someone we’re supposed to buy Vanessa being enamored with. I’m glad they’ve finally set up something interesting for Vernon and Anita to do with this girl band reunion instead of Anita wringing her hands and telling us she feels darkness coming and Vernon giving a civil rights speech every episode but yeah… People who’ve posted with me for other shows know I’m not one for fast forwarding or hate watching either, if I find a majority of a show is not working I usually just quit but because of what this show represents for me as a Black male soap fan I really want to stick it out. Its just become a challenge lately. I saw Guza has left the building and I REALLY hope we hear about some more BTS changes. The additions of Tracy Thompson and Jamie Giddens don’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence from me tho. Honestly praying hard for a new EP to replace JHC, a lot of the stuff that annoyed about her PC and AMC runs has started to match up here. I’m giving the show through the Summer to rectify some things but IDK how long I can hold on tbh. Its been a struggle to even finish some of these episodes lately.
    • I agree. I liked the episode but it felt jarring to suddenly return to a bunch of plots that had been put on pause since the Nurses' Ball started. Although I did like Laura popping in at the end to tell Alexis that millions of dollars have suddenly disappeared from Ace's trust fund. One set of scenes that made me feel optimistic for the next few months were between Sofia Mattsson and Rory Gibson. While Rory has been good as a darker, colder Michael this week, I was worried that he might not have much range. But he really warmed up with Mattsson, and I thought that (for the first time) Michael and Sasha had some genuine chemistry.
    • Next week is going to be such a sad time... I just feel it based on what was shown today. I'm wondering if the whole John being bandaged thing being a throwback to how he first arrived on the show was a Ron C idea since it just seems as though this would be something he would come up with.  If so, it's good that Cwikly/Ford are in charge with the implementing of the idea instead of him. Just a delayed thought from the Ciara scenes earlier in the week, or last week.. and how she had an odd way of dressing/acting.  I chuckle because little Ciara did say that she admired and wanted to be just like Kristen when she grew up.  So the fact that her outfit choices are so odd/off beat and her manner is a bit OTT just fits.. especially since Eileen's Kristen had an odd sense of fashion and that frantic OTT undertone to her delivery. With that said, a part of me wonders how Eileen's Kristen would have handled the scenes being done this week in regards to John's situation.
    • My god the smirking was back in full force today. He almost started smiling after Johnny mentioned he wouldn’t be there if EJ hadn’t raped Sami. I will say I did like seeing him with Dee as they’ve always had great chemistry.    They really are giving a lot of false hope with John getting better. I wish they hadn’t done that. Monday is going to be devastating. I really liked all the characters mixing and mingling today.  Nu-Rachel is still too sweet for me. Loved all the flashbacks. Everyone looked so young. Really enjoyed Brady’s scenes with John today.
