All true, along with the rest of their post.

I have no pity or sympathy for GH's creative regime at this point. I feel for the actors struggling with the mess. But that doesn't mean I don't think over half of the cast should be fired, because they should.

Sorry, but loving these soaps means wanting better for them. Not blindly cheering bad work and extraneous actors or characters on. Is it good for the genre if the Bell soaps stay on even in their current state? Maybe, maybe not. Do I watch them or care what happens to them at this point? Not at all. Will I weep if they go? Not particularly. For GH, sure. But I'd rather GH take the lesson, take the damage and get better. It won't do that if I develop parasocial relationships with actors I don't know, who don't know me, and think that being a fan means I have to always be positive about a show that has gone to shít.

Finally. Far from Jeff Kober's best work. He should've been gone four years ago.

Agreed. That character has been on fumes for years, and he's emblematic of Valentini's insistence on holding on to characters/actors for FAR too long. Cyrus has been a caricature since forever.

Nope, me either.

I'd be sad to see GH, Y&R, or BOLD or DAYS go, but I wouldn't dwell on it. My sadness would be for the genre itself -- saying goodbye to a form of TV that I've really loved. But I also know I'm angry about what's happened to those shows.

Look at today's GH. I just started the episode and already I'm angry.

Chase is in the bedroom, looking so fine in only red satin boxers, and Brook Lynn walks in like there's no heat in th damn house. She's wrapped in some damn robe that's so thick and covers so much that you cannot see an inch of skin.

That is not the daytime I know or want. It's one reason I'm so excited about BTG, which is intent on giving us the steamy and sexy and soapy.

GH continues to allow actors to call the shots, and that is disgusting. It hurts the entire show, and I'm sick of it. Amanda Setton should have been fired LONG ago for this bullsh_t, not enabled and indulged.

I don't care what happens the rest of the hour. They've already ticked me off.

I think I'm enjoying GH right now a lot more than most of you are, especially now that Cyrus is dead. I don't think I've ever liked any of the performances Jeff Kober gave on the show, although I'll admit he wasn't bad in his final scenes with Elizabeth.

However, even I was a little confused and disappointed that after what seemed like months of building to a "Who Killed Cyrus?" mystery, we actually see Joss shoot and kill him. This just seems like almost Josh Griffith-level squandering the dramatic potential of a situation.

I also agree but soaps don't take the time to plot out major story arcs like that anymore. They live week to week. It's a shame. Before the week is over they are already onto something completely different for the next week. This is part of why they lose viewers. There is nothing to get invested in. No long term romance build ups. Characters meet, hit the sack, get married, and two weeks later break up. No one cares.

The thing is, if Frank and/or Ron WERE to launch an all-gay soap, it'd go through the roof, especially with the LGBTQ+ community; because, like it has been for many years with Black audiences, ANY representation is better than no representation at all.

ICAM!!

On X, I was just told by a soap podcaster that my comment was "rude and unneccessary" when I said Brook Lynn was ridiculously wrapped in all those layers in a bedroom scene.

The podcaster attached a gif that stated "I don't like messy bottoms."

So I was out of line for wanting realism in a bedroom scene, but it was OK to call me a messy bottom. Got it.

BTW, I did not tag Amanda Setton in my post, although Frank, Josh Swickard, and GH were tagged. I think these people should know when stuff is bad.

This is GH going with the wishes of both Amanda and Josh.

It seems that Amanda Setton observes a modesty practice from her religious beliefs.  Which is why she dresses as she does on GH.

Josh Swickard doesn't have that, so we see him shirtless.  However Josh Swickard and his wife actress Lauren York Swickard (aka Lorynn York) have a pact that he won't do intimacy scenes, from their version of Christian beliefs.
(Lauren played an employee at the psych facility where Sasha was held in 2023).

At about 17 minutes in, Lauren and Josh start talking about the decision they made

    • Yeah, Ben and Evie don't start interacting in a 'we're going to pair them together as a couple' way until Feb/March 1977 when she recommends Ben paint a portrait for Jackie.  And Evie's working for Jackie so she and Ben interact and start to become friends.  That happens after Tim breaks up with  her and she's forgiven her sister.. and he and Hope break up after he covers for his younger brother for a crime that he had committed.  Jackie does come onto the canvas in December 1976 and the first months are her trying to snag Mike while she and Justin seem to play a cat and mouse game with one another as he's trying to restart things with Sara again. I often wonder if the Phillip story only came about because the show was going to be expanded to an hour.. and the Dobson's deciding that some of the new characters they were introducing could be tied to Justin/Jackie's back story.
    • Seems like the Dobsons were aiming for a Joe/Sara/Justin triangle or, having decided that Joe would be killed off, Justin would be waiting in the wings. But that never came to pass and I don't think there was much reference to Justin/Sara as time went on.That was something that could have been used later on but Doug Marland may not have known or cared. Also, when the show went to an hour they could add a lot of characters and not rely on the stalwarts, hence Jackie/Alan/Elizabeth. And after Leslie died, Mike went into Dad mode with Hope. Hope/Ben never took off and Hope was replaced and then dropped and Ben moved on to Eve, whose romance with Tim fizzled and Jordan Clarke left (by choice?)

    • Would anyone have any of these Y&R episodes they could add to the vault? It would be very much appreciated. • When I was a kid, I would watch DOOL with my mom. I remember Denise as Susan so well. And later, of course, on GH. How sad to hear she has passed. RIP.
    • I have to dig that scene up on YT. I'm glad they gave them some kind of happy ending, even if it was really late. Interesting! I remember Justin and Sarah being involved, but I either forgot or never caught their backstory. The girl with money and social position of course turns out to be Jackie. He sort of did to Sarah what Vanessa did to his brother! I do remember Justin started out as not the greatest guy. Kind of a horn dog. It's only when Ross comes on that he becomes the "good" brother. I only have some vague memories of Ben and Hope, mostly of when they were in a positive relationship. He certainly changed over time. "Chill" would be the way I would describe Ben (along with "handsome but kind of a yawn") for most of his time on GL, so hearing he once had a violent temper is very surprising.
    • Yes. That's called good writing.
    • interesting idea.  That makes sense, as MVJ seems to have set up each character development (traits) for future plot developments.
    • I really enjoyed today's episode. It showcased a lot of the other cast and I saw hints of storyline potential (Smitty & Bill). Martin definitely has some anger issues and I recall him being overly scared about protecting his family and having all the doors locked, coming out of one of his "dreams". There's obviously a lot going on there and I can't wait to find out more. I'm thinking June is going to be more than just the issue story of the week. I think she just might be related to one or more of our main characters. As for Tomas, yes, Alex Alegria is not the strongest actor, but he's pretty to look at and he emotes something. I'm just not sure what that something is yet.
    • No. Absolutely No. I don't know who this is... since it's just some random Twitter quote... But NO. The only parallel between OG Caroline's leukemia and Liam's tumor... is that they are both having cancer. That's it. Other than that... I see absolutely no similarities.  Caroline hid her sickness almost till the last moment. She was also giving the viewers signs that she is not well for days if not weeks before the diagnosis. It was not like Liam... falling down and hitting his head on a table and bam he has a tumor. Caroline's storyline broke our hearts, because of her attempt to live out the rest of her days with dignity and grace. It was written slowly and with care. What we are seeing right now with Liam is the complete opposite. It's begging the viewers for empathy and cheap tears. It's so in your face and trashy... I can't believe they are using cancer for something like this. Bradley Bell should never do terminal stuff again in his stories. It's borderline offensive to people who actually have lost relatives to cancer. To me it is.
