It really does.

I think this must have happened very fast - what is the tape-to-air delay now, a few weeks? A month tops? Maybe slightly over? I always assumed if Sam died she'd get it from one of the mob's enemies (or now, the WSB's re: Dante) but I am beginning to wonder if she might get some old fashioned Irna Phillips-style traffic accident exit lol.

It depends on how long the air delay is. If Sam goes digging for help for Lulu she could easily run afoul of whatever is up with Lucky.

If she did so in her book, I do not recall it. But, of course, the statement that if people did not go along with this unprecedented out of cycle cut, that some people would go, I am positive was said, but it wasn't an empty threat. It was a fact.

Well, I believe what some people had, who had preferential contract is 26 week cycles, double the standard 13. I am almost positive that KZ' cycle was 26 weeks.

I completely get the view about not asking this. But, if you look at other industries, like airlines. There is definitely a case to be made that it's in everyone's best interest under certain extreme circumstances, IF YOU ASK EVERYONE AT THE SAME TIME, to take, say a 10% across the board cut, to save the business from going under. If the show goes under hundreds of people lose their jobs. That is the bottom line in that scenario. I believe that Wheeler already had an agreement in place for this to happen with the crew & their union had passed on it. That suggests that SAGAFTRA would not have been an impediment.

Two more things. Totally disingenuous to be the person who brings something up & then is somehow horrified that replies are made. Marley or Vicky either one or both, have zip, nada, zilch, goose egg, to do with this. Couldn't be more off topic & off point if one's goal was to be so & do so.

She actively tanked her Jason reunion story because she wanted to act with her boyfriend. That pretty much sealed the deal, she never was used heavily again after that happened. And then publicly shamed the show when Miller wasn’t offered a new contract. Valentini is not going to forget that.

I do feel sympathy for her. She has clearly been through it in the last couple of years in her personal life. Miller’s death was a tragedy.

That's a great idea. And now your idea has even more grounding as Alexis mentioned losing her sister in a recent episode.

I've always had a soft spot for Kelly as Sam, as I did in her often-terrible role on PC - she is a quietly charismatic and at times strong performer who never felt cookie cutter. With that said, she has never actually been a strong character. She was thrown pairings, thrown family members, but the character never had a core. I think the only reason she lasted the last 5-10 years was down to longevity and the old fans of the character.

There are other longtime cast members I would have gotten rid of over her, but she has been so checked out for years that it doesn't surprise me.

I wonder if Valentini had to choose between her and Becky Herbst as it wasn't long ago Liz seemed to be on the chopping block.

Frank tried to cut Becky around 2015-2016 and learned the same lesson JFP and Guza did around 2010-11. I don't think it happens again unless Jonathan goes (who made it very clear last time that he wanted to be reunited with Becky, and that he left in large part because the show failed to deliver while giving him depressing, ugly stories), but I've been wrong before. I know they allegedly were gunning for her earlier this year, but I had a feeling it wouldn't happen. Becky is the third rail at this point IMO.

I think when Kelly came to work she was very good. She just hasn't much over the last 15 years at minimum IMO, and even before then at times. She got comfortable with Steve, until she wasn't. I think she had periods with real potential again after Jason's 'death' in 2012, and again with Drew/Billy Miller but it has never lasted. I think she worked hard with DZ this year, possibly because she knew she was in jeopardy. But Sam has been a spent shell for me for so long. Her best period, again, was when they thought she was leaving the show in the mid-2000s and therefore leaned into making her a villain and town shít-stirrer opposite GV's Lucky. If they'd let her do what she's best at she could've become not unlike Ava is now - I think it was @titan1978 that said Ava should be a Roger Thorpe-esque character, not a heroine, and that's where she works best and how she has survived on the margins. That, and Maura always comes to work.

Oh wow. Its clear the assumption of there being BTS beef with Kelly is valid. Budget cuts were just the excuse needed to finally get rid of her.

This is a nasty spin tweet from Hinsey I’m glad she’s being fried up in the quotes. It makes me wonder though if this is how TPTB feel about Kelly and why this exit was done like this.

I think a lot of soap twitter people (including but not limited to Hinsey) come in with their own spin both for and against their favored or disfavored actor. I suspect the truth is caught somewhere in between the BTS gossip about KM's alleged troubles or behavior, and FV's own axe to grind.

Again, this is another example of how soap twitter is not real life. People acting like this will 'shake GH to its core!!' and be some massive shift have not been paying attention to how marginalized Sam has been for years and how much Kelly has phoned it in - or they've just been stanning too long to acknowledge it. Sonny, Carly, Jason, Laura - that is a massive shift. (I'd argue even Becky/Liz would've been a blow too simply because like Laura she is so foundational and ubiquitously popular now, JJ has just returned and they have tried and failed to fire her twice before.) Sam would've still been a huge shock too even ten years ago. But now, after the last four years or more of disuse, she has merely suffered the same fate as Courtney or Reese almost 20 years later.

    • Right--I did think of that, as it was around the same few years.  Accents I guess...
    • It is an insult. To the viewer's intelligence. Everything in this show in the past 4 years has been horribly conceived, produced like a cheap tik-tok video, without any build up or psychological reasoning, and then re-written to level 0 in couple of weeks (where everything is ABSOLUTELY the same as it was before it happened). People get gravely sick and then recover in 5 episodes, because of miracle cures. People get killed and un-killed in the most cartoonish Scooby-Doo scenarios, people get pardoned after killing 2 innocent victims, people become and unbecome CEOs with the snap of a finger. But when you look around in a month or two or three... it's like absolutely nothing has happened. Nobody has grown... or evolved... or changed. We still have Steffy talking to Ridge how Hope and her mother are not worthy. We still have Brooke crying about something that Ridge said. We still have Hope at the same emotional limbo she's been put in ever since Brad decided she needs a re-vamp and made her a ho. EVERYTHING IS THE SAME. Only the Taylors change every few seasons and become increasingly younger. The problem I have with Liam's storyline is the problem I have with every storyline - why should I care if he is dying or sick with cancer when I haven't seen him in 2 years?!! Why go from 0 to a 100 like that. The same way with Sheila... who was backburned for months... before getting fake-killed for ratings. Why would we care about that... when Sheila was a non-entity before that.  Or why should I care for Brooke... when she's been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of a character for years... to now all of a sudden re-birthed into a lingerie queen and CEO?   Back in the day, we... the viewers of this horrible show... cared and loved to see characters struggle from point A to point B. We wanted to see the build up, the makings of something. Not get a finished result that is undone after a week or two. When Brooke became CEO in 1993... we cheered because it mattered and because she gave HER ALL to get to that point. It was a revenge after years and years of abuse, being slapped around like a homeless dog by Stephanie. She plotted and calculated her every move. But she was also raw and hurt. She was both opportunist and a heroine. She had dept and dimensions. THAT WAS A CHARACTER. That was a human being.   My diagnosis is that at this point Bradley Bell doesn't care. Bold is living off of past history, fans being loyal, the show being 18 minutes of crap that people watch to laugh at. He sees the ratings are still okay and even improving and he DOES NOT GIVE A S-IT. He is even more motivated to continue with the current style of trash. It will only get worse from this day on.  He is way pass the period where he wanted to tell stories or impress the viewers with anything. (Not that he was particularly good about that anyways) I would not even be surprised if he is writing this drivel on complete auto-pilot at this point. Maybe he asks Chat GPT what to write each week. That's how it feels. IF IT'S THE OPPOSITE... and he is trying and that's the BEST HE CAN DO?!!! Then we are really f-cked.  Even Bradley Bell was NOT THAT HORRIBLE guys. But times change and people age... and that's all I'm going to say.
    • -- Really good episode today, with a lot more happening than I expected. -- SilkPress is great, but I don't see the need to criticize Dani/KM when supporting Leslie. -- That being said, I don't like Dani with Andre. I think they should end that as soon as possible. -- Very lame that Vanessa and Doug weren't there. If they want to impress on us that Vanessa is Nicole's best friend, they need to do better. -- Brandon Claybon continues to improve as Martin, and his relationship with Smitty finally feels real. -- Dr. Carlton is, as others have posted, fine as fck. We need more.
    • As much as I have hyped the looks on this show, those dresses did not impress today. Since the premeire, there's only been one look that I can truly say IMO didn't work (and it honestly wasn't even that bad). It was an outfit Dani wore. These flowly wide leg trousers and it was paired with a loose top with a cowl neck. However, I didn't LOVE a single dress on any of the ladies today. Kat's was great only because it suits the character and her personality - so an A for that. It's a good dress. Dana's was also really nice. Everyone else either just was meh, had something unflattering about the fit, or didn't really fit the vibe.  Also, this isn't BTG's fault. It's just the state of soap operas today, but that event felt empty. Tables of 3

I mean it was nice that they had some extras on there, but it definitely didn't feel like an event when the family was pretty much ever table there.  That was a nice end to the episode and I wonder how this is going to unfold.
    • I was looking at the AWHP synopses from the period where Quinn had a stalker in 1984 and it refers to pranks and phone calls. Does anybody remember what the pranks were? Or were they just disturbing phone calls?
    • Same. Things were really coming together the last moment of the show. I wish we had more time with it.
    • Exactly when did Ada's kitchen become the "centerpiece of the action"? And which set was the centerpiece of the action before that???    Another World premiered in 1963, and Ada didn't even arrive until 1967.  And then, Ada and Rachel lived in a small apartment.  A couple of years later, Ada married Ernie Downs and moved into his house. So the kitchen so identified with Ada, was actually in the house Ada inherited from her husband Ernie after he died.   I'd suggest Ada's kitchen did not become the centerpiece of the action (if it ever was) until around the time Mary Matthews died, and Rachel began her romance with her second millionaire husband, MacKenzie Cory.  Others might disagree, but that doesn't offend me in the least.
    • The last scene of the final episode did show that life on Wisteria Lane would continue on once the toxic housewives moved away. It won't be as good as the original, but I'm intrigued to see what these new people do with the concept.
    • This underscores the biggest issue that the show needs to work on.   The majority of the characters on the show are all related to one another, which is why we have that B&B esque Dani/Andre hook up situation
