These is she or isn't she storylines do nothing for me because they never stick and all it takes is one of the previous actors showing interest in coming back and all of the investment is gone to [!@#$%^&*].

This is why it’s so short sighted to kill off characters cause you’re mad that the actor is leaving. Just do a straight recast and be done with it. Its bad enough JKJ’s Phillip now on occasion has his old face whenever JKJ plays him despite the character having plastic surgery for one of the recasts.

It reminded me of the DNA test that Kayla did on Henry, when everybody started thinking that Tripp was his father and the one who raped Allie. That was the thing that made me speculate that it’s gonna turn out that Gwen has a twin sister.

Agreed, they could’ve recast Abby. Hell, I think Abigail Klein could have even been a recast.

But in this case, the problem was that somebody (I won’t say who lol) hated the character so much that he wanted her gone and wrote her out the first chance he could.

And, let’s not even talk about how ridiculous it was that at the same time Abby was killed off with a stab wound, Stefan, who had no heart or brain activity was brought back to life.

I’m so glad that

Days has a long history of using a single DNA test as irrefutable proof when the audience knows there can obviously be other answers.  Heck, John should really get another test to make sure he isn't Roman lol.

Abigail Klein actually would have been a decent Abby recast.  She's even a natural blonde.

I do agree; the fact she was almost immediately paired with Billy Flynn's Chad ⏤ whom she had decent chemistry with ⏤ proved as such. Plus, Stephanie was dressed eerily like Marci Miller's Abigail, so it would've worked. But, alas, we got Stephanie, which should have been a nice change. But again, the "writer" fumbled the ball.

Stephanie has always been a bit of a bore to me.  I think Hennig made the character.  AK does fine with the material, but Stephanie still lacks any direction of any kind.  That is definitely a writing issue.  They can't even figure out a pairing for her.

I don't like Abby that much either, but the character just has more possibilities on the current canvas.  Like everyone else I am not sure why they "killed" her off in the first place.  Mansi really made the role for me though.  Dang, I really am starting to sound like a Kate Mansi stan lol.

I absolutely disagree. Wholeheartedly.

I just feel like the writer has no clear vision on who Stephanie should be; recasting after being off-canvas for some years (aside from a one-off visit) should have been an easy walk into for the role, but, instead... the writing has been stale and plot-driven to poach other characters. Klein is not the issue for me. I don't even think Hennig would've been able to sell the character at this point. At the same time, she's felt like a replacement for Abigail from the moment Miller exited.

They killed her off because Miller wanted recurring, and the writer didn't want to do a recurring-regular pairing, so... yeah. And yes, you do stan. Next, we'll get you on the Gina Tognoni stan train.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
