Even though I hated the majority of his work on this show, he should be very proud to have lasted 7 years. Even creating your own soap hasn't guaranteed some Head Writers that long of a tenure.

I loved Paula Cwikly's previous stint. She and Peter Brash were only fired in the first place because their stories allegedly were too expensive for the budget. Their only strange choice was the Gemini twins initial introduction, but I ended up liking both Rex (only Eric Winter's portrayal) and Cassie. I'm still pissed Higley retconned them to be Roman/Kate's kids. If they had been allowed to continue as Head Writers for a longer stint, I think the show would be in a much healthier place than it is now. I just hope her and Ford choose to write this show for adults again. I beg.

I think he's more likely to revive Dante's Cove than be on The Gates.

GH, on the other hand - I wouldn't be shocked, although he left with very bad blood.

Anyway, spare a thought for Greg Rikaart, and when you're done:

What bad blood at GH? DEETS!

Could the scab writers have gotten better "ratings"(views whatever they get on Peacock) than Ron did?

I am quite sure they did. Having watched it.

Someone else will know better than I do but I think people mentioned some social media posts from him after leaving, or maybe a speech.

I know some fans felt that was forced on them to try to fit more into what DAYS had become, but I'm not sure.

Thank God. His Days run is more of a laughing stock than JER and Higley ever were. Terrible one trick pony who writes everything as a disastrous joke from 1986. He better not slide back to General Hospital either.

Well, several actors were behind his firing.

Tony Geary would not say his name. Instead he referred to him as "the writer".

For GH's Big 60 anniversary, Ron made a post where it was clear GH is the show he is passionate about, also that he's never quite gotten over being fired from there. I'm sure someone will find that post.

Now that was EPIC levels of shade.

That aside, I wouldn't be surprised if SONY or CBS tried to snag him to write on Y&R or B&B. This industry has a knack to passing people around.

Hoping for Bope for the 60th anniversary!

I just watched them on Christine Taylor’s podcast and Peter Reckell said he was very open to the idea of returning for the 60th but Kristian Alfonso was very stern in saying the writing would have to be better quality. Maybe now that RC is gone she’ll reconsider.

I gotta co-sign what @carolineg said.

He did have a lot of good ideas, but the biggest problem was the execution was often terrible. In some cases, the worst execution of an idea that I’ve ever seen on a soap.

His lack of objectivity, his obsession with certain characters and his disregard for others, his biphobia, his misogyny and his determination to write everything like a big joke didn’t help either. Days has pretty much become a cruel, toxic, mean spirited mess and that’s on him. And yes, he does owe a lot of people at Days an apology; Kassie DePaiva being #1 on the list.

He definitely needs to cut all that toxicity out. That’s pretty much the only way he could make it if he ends up writing for another soap.

I may have no faith in him as a human being, but I still have some faith in him as a writer lol

I wonder if Jamey Giddens will leave with Ron.

Oh God, I hope so.

I loved the Brash & Cwikly era. They weren’t perfect, but it was entertaining and had a lot of heart. Whatever budget cuts Corday muttered on about at the time, it wasn’t worth the show giving way to a catastrophic Higley 1.0 tenure that lead to us to JER’s return. What a mess.

Sheraton Kalouria, who was NBC Daytime President at the time had a heavy hand in some of Days creative decisions in the early 00’s (he wanted Days to be like Passions) was somewhat responsible for that if I recall right.

@DRW50 I also just spite out my Celsius drink laughing and hollering when I saw your Dante’s Cove remark 🙈😂
