The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, The Young and the Restless

The streak continues for “General Hospital” (1.928 million), which averaged less than two million viewers for the 10th consecutive week and the 16th time this season during the week of June 17-21, 2024. This marks the longest time the show has been below that benchmark.

While the soap improved week-to-week among both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, tying “The View” (2.336 million) in Women 18-49, each with a 0.20 rating, and topping the talk show among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating vs. 0.31 rating), the soap did tie its series low among rounded Women 18-49 (o.2 rating) for the 13th consecutive week, which is the same amount of weeks of ratings lows it took before the show opted to replace its then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2015.

Compared to the same week last year, “General Hospital” is down -194,000 viewers while “The View” gained +31,000 viewers. Additionally, “The View” saw its best performance among Total Viewers since the week of April 1-5, 2024, and its most-watched telecast since April 8, 2024, with the Thursday, June 20 episode averaging 2.461 million viewers with featured guests Dr. Anthony Fauci and actress Jessica Alba.

“GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.290 million) continues to rank among the least watched and lowest rated shows in daytime, losing to “NBC News Daily” (1.179 million) in Women 25-54 (0.21 rating vs. 0.23 rating) and tying the NBC News show for last place among Women 18-49, each with a 0.14 rating thanks to CBS’ “The Talk” (1.186 million)* airing repeats all week.

Although “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.674 million) gained viewers week-to-week, the show was down the most year-to-year among Total Viewers, attracting -233,00 fewer viewers than the same week last year. Further, the daytime drama series is down -27% among Women 25-54 viewers (260,000) season-to-date compared to its performance at the same point during the 2022-2023 television season. Comparatively, both “General Hospital” (234,000) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (148,000) are down -24%, while “The View” (211,000) is down -22% among Women 25-54 viewers.

“The Young and the Restless” (3.049 million) was up week-to-week but down year-to-year among Total Viewers. Meanwhile, “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.062 million / 2.480 million) is finally looking healthy again, with the first half-hour back over two million viewers for the first time in four weeks, and “The Price is Right” (3.770 million / 4.250 million) was virtually on par with its year ago performance among Total Viewers. The first half-hour gained +39,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

“The Talk” aired amended repeats all week, which will not factor into the show’s season average.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of June 17-21, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.

The numbers above are calculated using Live+Same Day viewing and DVR playback, defined as 3:00 a.m.-3:00 a.m., and are courtesy of Nielsen. Household ratings are the percentage of TV homes in the U.S. tuned into television, each representing 1,250,000 homes as of the 2023-2024 television season.

Beginning August 31, 2020, national ratings include Out of Home (OOH) viewing. Previously, ratings did not include OOH viewing. Averages are based on regular telecasts.
