I don't think that's unrealistic with the studio they chose. The potential for cliffhangers and event stories is also much bigger if they do utilize all that Assembly has to offer.

I agree; in both photos and videos, of the studio and its grounds, as well as other shows that have shot there, it looks capable for so much to be done. AND it looks like the studio grounds themselves are built for filming, so that's promising!!

Thank you for that post! I do agree, I don't get the sentiment that the overseas soaps are less soapy. Hell, I'd argue that Coronation Street looks exactly like a US soap just with some outdoor shooting. Eastenders is the gold standard, but I think Hollyoaks and Neighbours also do a really good job from a production stand point.

I really like what Neighbours has continued to do, via Amazon MGM Studios, despite my displeasure for how their post-production has been (very green in the 2023 season, but the 2024 season has improved slightly). I'm praying for a proper 4K UHD production. Yes, CBS only airs in 1080p, but imagine the episodes going to Paramount+ in 4K UHD? That would be supremely amazing!!

My hopes for a more modern production model is just steeped in my desire for the show to be a proper success. The better the show does on streaming, the longer it'll be on the air. International sales are going to be important as well. Also, it's been 25 years since our last soap. Why not be ambitious?

I agree, and I fully believe that's why I do believe is part of the reason they went to Atlanta. New studio, new assets and technologies to use. It's going to be amazing. I just know it.

I love the UK production models, Eastenders and Emmerdale specifically are very visually pleasing to watch with their permanent outside sets.

I would love to see BTG do something similar but I’m expecting it to look closer to All My Children during the LA years. That on set announcement video with the core four leads  reinforced that expectation for me.

I wouldn't be upset about that. To me, All My Children had the best high definition production model of the then-six daytime soaps. But, it was also a very ABC production model I don't see fitting on CBS, if that makes sense..

I just have a hunch that we are going to be pleasantly surprised in all aspects here: the look of the show, the vibe, the way it moves, the storytelling aspect, etc. I think a suspenseful aspect will figure prominently in this show just because of the way most of the characters have been described. There's a lot that these characters can get themselves into. Three characters are attorneys, there's a retired former Senator, a Congressman, a successful psychiatrist, a highly successful plastic surgeon with his own practice, a real estate business owner specializing in luxury properties, a young photographer who inherited a fortune, a former singer, a former investigative reporter, a police detective, a waitress/bartender whose mind is not quite right, the nurse, the firefighter, the former model, and the paralegal dismissed as an opportunistic tramp. I'M SO EXCITED for February.

Give me an opportunistic tramp on a rainy day and I'm good to go. ❤️

In the end, all I care about are the characters and the stories.  You can have the best production values in the business, but it doesn't mean crap if the characters and the stories aren't interesting.

Does anyone remember this primetime show from years past? It actually aired 5 nights per week as a telenovela. It was The Bold and The Beautiful primetime campy version. But this is not my point of sharing this video. What if Beyond The Gates took this show's look and feel, along with that wonderfully suspenseful background music?

FASHION HOUSE was the name of this show with Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild as rivals.

Can we talk about how beautiful Taylor Kinney looks in this?

I was a tween and my older sister was a young adult.  In summer 1969, we had begun watching OLTL and GH together.
So guess I began watching OLTL when it was 11 months old.
I remember watching All My Children from near its January 1970 beginning, but I was in school and there was no way to record a show.  I think I watched every AMC episode the summer of 1970.    So I guess you could say that's the last time I saw a soap from near its beginning, from when AMC was six months old.

Re location filming the UK soaps and Neighbours have a street, square and cul de sac to use as a meeting place for characters whereas BTG doesn't seem to have that central gathering place.

So maybe we will see characters outside workplaces, an outdoor area of a restaurant or a terrace of a home etc. Depends how easily it can be accomplished. Hopefully it will be a regular thing.

It would also be nice if we saw more than one room of a house eg bedrooms, a den, dining room etc.

I think you’re going to be right re AMC the LA Years.

I really like this video breakdown of the show. I'm intrigued by Andre Hamilton. He inherits a double fortune apparently from the death of his parents. He's a sophisticated playboy who has people questioning his true intentions. What's that about? Also, the youngest Hamilton daughter lives in her own condo and is a social media influencer. This show seems to have loads of possibilities and I hope they take the fullest advantage of it all.
