Yes, I believe they did. I think other soap mags at the time did as well. During my online era (1999/2000-present), I've only ever used the full names of the shows or their abbreviations, so BEACH wasn't my thing for that show. Just like PASS wasn't mine for Passions, although it felt like it should have been at times. Haha.

🤣 Oh Lordy, I can only imagine the Passions one, haha. It annoys me when I see YandR or even BOLD for The Bold and the Beautiful.

I might've gone with GTS for Gates a la SuBe or PSSNS but I guess it's not really many more letters. GAT is not an option based on recent slang lol.

"GATES" just feels appropriate at this point.

I got my soap abbreviation terminology from how SOD styled them is i.e. ATWT, DAYS, Y&R etc. while using the whole name for single name soaps like Loving and Passions, while BEACH was used to distinguish itself from SB (Santa Barbara). As for older soaps I remember SOD used SFT, EDGE, and RH.

SOD never liked to use the word “the” hence in the recaps it was always “Bold and Beautiful” and “Young and Restless”. I don’t remember at all how they handled The City, except using CITY to refer to the show.

So I concur GATES would be most appropriate following the SOD tradition

I recall it was either SPW or SOU that used stuff like “World Turns”, “One Life” “Restless” etc.

This just made me miss all the soap mags!

So, it looks like a new acronym will be needed, but I ain't saying [!@#$%^&*] until I'm allowed.

Now you have my curiosity piqued. Is there going to be a name change??? 😳😳😳

Look, the software let you type the word [!@#$%^&*].

We understand that you can't say anything until a specific time arrives. We do not understand why you cruelly tease us. I'm personally very interested because I have not thought THE GATES was a very good choice. This is Wednesday. Do you think this news will break on Friday?

So much for the software allowing something unusual. Must've been a fluke.

I do think it needed a better title, so I'm hopeful that's what Errol is hinting at. The Gates is too generic and might box them in story wise. I feel like that would work better on a primetime show. I hope the new title is more catchy.

New acronym? My immediate thought would be something obviously related to the show's location of Washington DC. So the title of the show is simply DC without the Washington. A surprising acronym choice would also be location-based IF they've decided on a quick change behind the scenes before taping starts.

ATL (most people know what this references)

Is there a character from the released descriptions that Debbi Morgan could play? I assume she's a top contender for both MVJ and JHC. Or perhaps MVJ created a character specifically for her, and the casting description hasn't been made public yet.
