I don't care about the character but I care about an actor that gave decades of work to us. That's why I find it disgraceful the way they are writing him off. This is a legacy character that needed to be written off with dignity.

I haven't seen much to be honest - in weeks.  This month.  But I feel like I've seen a couple of very touching moments with Eric/John M. - and then a few days later, we regress,  repeat dialogue, and get to the exact same moment again.  And again.

I don't think this is a way to send out a long term actor and character.  But then again, I also don't agree with making Scott Clifton become 'cray' as Liam.  He's delivered and made some sow's ear dialogue and material look like cotton.  I won't say turned sow's ear into silk because NOTHING on this show is silk.  But I'm just not into the redemption of Thomas and Hope, and the few minutes I saw of Li one day made her absolutely despisable to me.  I didn't think I'd want Sheila to kill off any additional characters, and she will be the last standing on any show she infects - but Li can go.

For me it's the difference in B&B and other shows that I truly loved over the years.  There are just no loveable characters on this show and it sticks out like a sore thumb.  We don't really care that Eric is dying because honestly - he was never a developed character - 30 or 40 years and - never truly developed.  He really never loved any of the women he was with, just like all the men on this show.  It's like "On to the NEXT!" with all of the characters on this show and who they sleep with and "marry".   Then it's divorce, marriage to someone else and pregnant the very next week.  It makes people not care.

That's what you're seeing with Eric.  There's no explanation to his "disease", and B&B is masterful at just saying people are dying and it's just so offhanded and emotionless.  Who cares?

Interesting take on Eric's development over the decades, and I think it's spot-on about why we don't care. And yes, the repetition is pathetic.

I disagree completely about turning Liam dark and even crazy. We've seen repetition with Liam to the point where we're crazy about that, so it's time to shake it up. Why not turn the tables and have a redemption arc for Thomas and Hope? At least it's different. When this has run its course, they can write a redemption arc for Liam. Isn't that part of what soaps are and do?

I'm not wild about what has been done to Li, but Sheila killing her? Uh...SHEILA is the one who should be killed off if we're talking about characters written into a ridiculous and boring rut.

Well God yes I'd want Sheila gone first but they're never going to do it.  But I caught about 5 weird minutes of Li with Poppy or - it's her sister.  But anyone she's around, Li is irritated by or she fights or she's -- despisable.  I don't even know why she's suddenly crazy not-so-rich asian woman on the edge.

Bad Santa!

These Eric monolgues today about his design and creation were cringeworthy, especially backed with the melodramatic music and Katie's tears. UGH to the whole thing.

He won't go to the hospital. If he can design in the office or in his living room, why the hell can't he design in a hospital room? And that purple gown he put Donna in? LOL What was special about that?

I think it is time to die.

    • If the shooter is Arnold, I am not going to be happy. Agreed.  Again, I really like the pace of the mystery. RonC always wrote a shocking crime, then it would be solved only through exposition at the end.  I feel like the audience is being shown some respect by them carefully closing all the loopholes.  For example, having Shawn-D call Rafe to turn in his gun was a clever device to get Gabi to confess. As much as I agree with @carolineg about the odd shift in Sophia's character, this plot is starting to make me angry.  A woman is denied an abortion and forced to raise a child?  It is gross.  The stomach pains are a hopeful foreshadowing.  But, if she fakes pregnancy, or hides his miscarriage, I am going to scream!!! Roman continues to be a mench, but I have to admit that I can never keep track of the difference between Max and Benjy.  I guess it helps that Benjy is dead.  Are Max and Benjy still related to Carly?
    • If Sally Field had been more generous about the writing I would say that her assessment is really very fair. I found Soapdish very funny. The cast is great. Delirious with John Candy and Mariel Hemingway (and Emma Samms!) came out the same year and I had expected to prefer Delirious, but Soapdish is one that I can watch repeatedly.
    • I love SOAPDISH but I think TOOTSIE is better. Generally I am quite fond of gender-benders. VICTOR, VICTORIA, most favorite.
    • On GL we only saw young GA's Philip in very short shorts but on AMC we saw GA's Alec McIntyre in a speedo.  But, on GL, an older GA/Philip is having sex with Olivia in a hotel room where Bruce Barry was directing & he & she both end up down to nothing but black underwear & at one point his bicep is covering her entire upper body so it appears that she is naked. I think they ended up on the floor between the bed & the wall. That was when I realized that Grant's body was better than Steve Burton's. (Olivia was cheating. Her husband Alan was in the hospital.) It is notable that I can speak with any insight AT ALL about these bodies since that is not the team I play for! LOL
    • I mentioned that last week and I am glad Tate and Sophia just realized that today lol.  I think the show is just tying up some of Ron's loose ends.   You would think Brady, Holly or even Marlena would have perhaps pointed out the age thing to Tate at some point. I am not sure I like this shift in Sophia's characterization though.  MK played Sophia as someone who always defied her mom's rules-she just didn't get caught.  She was openly trying to steal Tate from Holly with no shame, showing up at the Horton cabin in bikinis to seduce him, and blackmailing Holly to work all her shifts at the Bistro.  Once the recast started the show has acted like Sophia's lived in her room, sheltered her entire life lol.
    • I thought Dante was going to put hands on Gio
    • If Jordan never appeared again, I would absolutely not notice or miss her.  So, while Brook Kerr has her flaws, she at least appears to have a pulse and a personality as Portia.
    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
    • I shared this on Twitter and good grief the comments. Steffy fans can be such vile real-life human beings over a fictional character lol.
    • I remember Michael Logan interviewed L.A. actors/production staff about the movie. Susan Seaforth Hayes said she was dying to know Susan Lucci's reaction.
