I'm trying to think of something positive to say about today's episode but I can't think of anything.

Yes, why does Colin have an accent and Sloan doesn't ?

I know it's just one episode but I don't like Colin or the actor in the role. Jasper is a pretty bad actor.

Ben 2.0 is just a waste of airtime. He adds nothing to the show.

Chanel needs to go! I'm sick of the character and actress. Her storyline has been a complete mess.

Sloan Peterson once again spoken.

Paulina and the sweet bits...just terrible.

Chloe and her comment about what a man Xander was while staring at his big pecs and Xander at the same time looking at her boobs was awful.

Why is Chloe giving this guy the time of day? I shouldn't be surprised. He only kidnapped her while Ciara married and had serial killers babies. It's not a stretch that this would happen on this pathetic soap.

Leo...Why is he still on this soap?

The ending was terrible.

Yes, this really is mystifying me. I never thought the move to Peacock would spur a reinvention of the soap genre, but I looked forward to a little tinkering around the edges, at least. But it's the same old tired tropes, done in the same tired old ways.

Is Sarah gone for good?  It seems like there's got to a be time where they'll use the baby to ruin Xander's love life.

Regarding Bo&Hope, I've always thought Julie liked Bo more than Hope, (she didn't go to their wedding, she didn't help out with the kids when Bo died, and Hope was terrible to her as a pre-teen), so it tracks that they would come back to see Julie once Bo RFTD.

The interesting thing about the writers pitching them chasing Megan is that they obviously did not expect long term future stories for Megan in Salem.

I feel like the time that I've been most drawn to watch the show daily was in January 2023 when the adults were having non-committed sex, there wasn't much sci-fi fantasy, and the conflicts felt more organic.  To concur with others, I think the current production limits are better suited for grounded romance and drawing room stories than these large scale make-believe plots (as evidence by the fact that the time lines don't even add up, one day in Greece has equaled three days in Salem).

But, what still annoys me about the drugged bakery plot is that nobody should leave biscuit dough at room temp for 12 hours, it has to be kept cold!

One gets the sense that Colin's stay will not be long in Salem.  You can't yell and threaten a woman on day 1 and expect to be alive for very long (see George as an example).

And, I'll share mine.  How long can one hack writer use the same publicity photo?

I don't want to victim blame especially if Colin is abusive, but I am shocked Talia is onboard with this.  This is an idiotic plan, he's an jerk, and she didn't even think about coming up with an alibi when her sister is not only a cop but also lives with her.  That's really not smart.

I think her least reasonable plan was giving up medicine because she met a cute guy with an accent.

On the other hand, Jada's assumption that Talia is lying about taking aspirin when she had a headache because she has access to other medications is absurd.  For over one hundred years aspirin has been proven to be the most effective treatment for a headache (don't let Tylenol fool ya) and doctors aren't allowed to self-prescribe.

    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.

    • Lol.  I love that this board still allows misinformation from a bad source.
    • Thanks @kalbir what a time to have enjoyed the peak of the primetime soaps. Haha you’re good. The only complaint I have with Lorraine’s death as I mentioned recently in the FC thread was it was overkill, and all we got Apollonia. If a pregnant woman had to be killed off, I would’ve chosen just killing off Robin instead in some freak accident or in the explosion at Richard’s to save us from us that disaster lol.    Did Hotel have a cliffhanger that year? I imagine if Hotel had been soapier we would’ve had cliffhangers like the hotel catching on fire or bombed by an ex-lover of Christine. Peter pisses everyone off and is shot in his office. Or a major Golden age star like a Olivia de Havilland shows and tells how she originally owned the Hotel and how Victoria Cabot & Laura Trent stole it from her but now she owns it etc.
    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
