The title says it all.

Can we list actors who have been part of the cast of different soaps at he same time. They may or may not have shared scenes.

First ones that come to mind are

Heather Tom/Don Diamont - Victoria/Brad Y&R Katie/Bill B&B

Jane Eliot/Wally Kurth - Tracy/Ned GH Anjelica/Justin DOOL

Looking forward to your contributions...

Genie Francis/Robin Christopher- Ceara/Skye AMC, Laura/Skye GH

John Bolger/Timothy Gibbs/Robin Christopher- Gabe/Gary/Lorna AW, Sykes/Kevin/Skye OLTL

Debbi Morgan/Darnell Williams - Angie/Jesse AMC, Angie/Jacob Loving, Angie/Jacob The City, YoHarmony/Sarge, Y&R

Kristoff St. John/Debbi Morgan - Adam/Chantal Generations, Neil/YoHarmony, Y&R

Lots of examples of soaps re-pairing actors who had romantic success on another soap.

ex. Stephen Nichols/Mary Beth Evans - Patch/Kayla DAYS, Stefan/Katherine GH

in the mid-late '90s a significant part of the cast of GH was made up of actors who had been on DAYS during the same time in the '80s.

For example in 1996 you had:

  • Genie Francis (Laura GH/Diana DAYS)
  • Wally Kurth (Ned GH/Justin DAYS)
  • Mary-Beth Evans (Katherine GH/Kayla DAYS)
  • Stephen Nichols (Stefan GH/Steve Days)
  • Matthew Ashford (Tom GH/Jack Days)

They were even joined by Jane Eliot (Tracy GH/Anjelica DAYS) for a brief period when she came back for a guest stint prior to her crossover to The City.

And shortly after Matthew Ashford left GH in 1997, Billy Warlock (AJ GH/Frankie DAYS) was cast as the recast AJ.

SuBe->B&B

Sarah Buxton (Annie/Morgan) / Sean Kanan (Jude/Deacon) / 2000-2001
Tracy Lindsey Melchior (Tess/Kristen) / Sean Kanan (Jude/Deacon) / 2001-2003
Lesley-Anne Down (Olivia/Jackie) / Sean Kanan (Jude/Deacon) / 2003-2005

Y&R->B&B

In addition to Heather Tom and Don Diamont, Ashley Jones (Nina/Bridget) and Jennifer Gareis (Grace/Donna). All four appeared simultaneously on Y&R in the late 90s and were part of the contract cast on B&B between 2009 and 2010.

Also, Barbara Crampton (Leanna/Maggie) was on B&B at the same time (1995-1998) as Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) and Tracy E. Bregman (Lauren).

How soon we forget ...

Harley Jane Kozak, James Rebhorn, Beverlee McKinsey, Mary Pat Gleason, Lisby Larson and eventually Jerry Lanning (plus, if ex-actors count, Pamela Long Hammer and Gail Kobe) all went from Texas to Guiding Light.

We can also add Amelia Heinle (Victoria, Y&R; Steffi, Loving/The City), who acted with Debbi and Darnell on both soaps.

Billy Miller/Jeff Branson/Elizabeth Hendrickson/Eden Riegel (Richie/Jonathan/Maggie/Bianca, AMC; Billy/Ronan/Chloe/Heather, Y&R)

You can swap out Eden for Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC; Chelsea, Y&R). They almost overlapped as well.

I suppose Debbi and Darnell overlapped with most of them on both shows.

    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.
    • Of course!

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

I've never seen a trainwreck like this in my entire life. 5 pencils and 3 dolls?!!!!!!!!!!! (this little moment starts close to the 7th minute) WOW. THIS IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.

    • This is 100% correct.  It was even on the nightly news where the US Government would not let the cast and crew travel to Egypt because it was deemed not safe.  The Achille Lauro hijacking took place on October 7, 1985, when the Italian ocean liner MS Achille Lauro was hijacked by four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria to Ashdod, Israel. The location shoot was probably scheduled to be filmed in mid-October to air throughout November with a two week tape to air date.  Remember on the show they did some in studio scenes doubling for Egypt before shifting the action to Arizona.  It was an awkward end to a truly bizarre storyline.
