OK, I kind of buy Kayla signing a contract without reading it, but Kate's been in the biz for too long to fall for those shenanigans.

Factually, I guess they all signed a blank document, but they were awfully quick to trust a group of ghosts.

Also, I wonder if Marlena's age wasn't mentioned in her obit because if it has taken two weeks to advance two days in the Salem universe, perhaps in that timeline she's still in her 30s because they would age slower as well.

Finally, if Li and Wendy come from a rich family, why don't they have nicer accommodations?

Marlena's obit was crap because Gwen Rizczech wrote it. She runs the Spectator now. (Well Jack just fired her but she was running it when the obit ran).
