Kate Linder, from my understanding, cannot be dropped. Somehow, again from my understanding, William J. Bell crafted a lifetime deal to never expire as a guarantee for her job. How true this is I haven't a clue.

I laugh at Doug Davidson. He wasn't even being used for a lot of the time in his final years, so dropping him to recurring made logistical sense. Him stating he was "fired," when he was given offers to come back for episodic appearances, is laughable. He can stay childishly butt-hurt.

According to the "Episode Count Archives" posted on SON, Doug Davidson was finally removed from the contract cast list in November 2018, after he revealed on Twitter in September 2018 that he'd been working "without a contract since January".   Until he complained publicly, he was treated by the show as being a contract performer, although he had no contract.

According to the "Episode Count Archives" posted on SON, Kristoff St. John was removed from the contract cast in February 2019 (the week of his death).

[That's what makes me wonder if Kate Linder and Christian LeBlanc actually have contracts, or if perhaps they're merely being treated as though they do because of their seniority with the show.  I don't understand how having a contract with an extremely low guarantee is beneficial to a performer, unless it's for health insurance purposes.  It seems such a contract merely prevents the actor from taking another, more lucrative, job.]

Could they really be setting us up to have a good 50th anniversary?

Indeed it Is, they look like a (young) father and son, who get along well, I can't wait to see these two together, maybe Danny's Presence will give Phyllis some Self Awareness for a change, I feel like they're playing to Diane to break down and then act like whatever shift she may do is her fault alone, my I would love Danny telling her off like "You do remember you drugged Me to Pass the boy as mine right?"

Also as someone else already mentioned A Danny/Traci Reunion wouldn't hurt, Traci Needs A Man!!! I always hated they never allowed her to have another kid besides Colleen and then they killed her off

    • Yes, they did a 'premiere' of Maggie's death episodes at the ArcLight theatre in Los Angeles, arguably then the nicest movie theatre chain in the USA. Plus, Suzanne and Deidre were in a ton of scenes together during this time. Whatever happened between them happened after 2004.
    • There are episodes with Jenny (Mary Ellen Stuart) that she was in pre-writers strike.. and I know that she lasts until at least August 1988. It's a shame that the show didn't try pairing her with Rusty since the two had more chemistry than she had with Ross and that he had with Rose.
    • Was that when she put on the"Slut of Springfield" red dress and made a complete ass of herself at the CC, so of course Alan fell madly in love with her on the spot?
    • Oohh...now I'm not sure. Long did come back in '87, didn't she. She broke up Ross and Vanessa almost from her first minute back. Van and Ross are at the Country Club when Josh dumps Reva. And Reva dramatically drapes herself on the CC stairs.
    • Glad you enjoyed watching. Yes, Michael seems like fun. I am always interested in more of these niche talk show appearances.
    • Thanks for the tag @DRW50
    • Upon reflection, I think you're right, their chilliness toward each other was more recent. She said women on the show in 1984 were not supportive and she still stays away from them. She seems friendly with Susan Hayes so Deidre is the only woman still around from those days, though I guess Kristian Alfonso and Leann Hunley could also qualify. And it might be someone long gone but who is still present in Suzanne's social circles.
    • I don't know.  The animosity seems to be more recent than the mid 80s.  When Maggie was a victim of the Salem Stalker i remember reading an interview with Suzanne where she said they aired the episode(s) surrounding Maggie death in a theatre and made a big deal about it.  Suzanne was very upset about being fired and Dee comforted her and said that they were making such a big deal about it because it was Suzanne/Maggie.  I cannot find the article but I will keep trying. That said Suzanne's comments on Soapy about how some of the female cast members treated her during her illness was disappointing to hear to say the least.
    • Anyway... Kristen should have a prison lesbian story arc. And then come out and become obsessed with Marlena so we can move her on from the Brady nonsense. Is that secret room still in the DiMera mansion?
    • Oh, wow... where can I find this interview?
