RC really has done SSH/Julie a disservice.  I think he writes Doug much better.  I am not a Julie historian, but from what I have seen and what I have read Julie was much more sophisticated and glamourous.  I loved what I saw of her solo return in the early 90's bedding younger men with her fabulous 90's fashion and hair.  I can see Julie as being stuck up or snobby, but racist, bigoted, and a loud shrew?  Pass.  She is actually the butt of tons of old lady jokes too.  Again, Marlena or Maggie would never be spoken about that way.  I never thought SSH was an amazing thespian, but I have seen her capably handle material.  The Hayes seem happy and that's fantastic, but Julie has become a caricature and it's really a mockery of what Julie should be (or at least what I imagine Julie should be at this age).

Your 90s description of Julie sounds like Joanna Manning. I wonder who was writing her character on Days at that time?

Anne Schoettle and Richard J. Allen. And I think Gene Palumbo too.

Julie also ran her own company at the time.

@ranger1rg Scott Mckinsey was today's director. I noticed the director toned down Jennifer's hysteria from yesterday's episode.

I did notice McKinsey directed, which made me doubly shocked about the blocking of the scene I mentioned. And yes, "Jennifer's Hysteria" was toned down. I know Cady has a lot of fans, but I can't sign off on how she plays Jennifer just because Melissa Reeves is an awful human being.

Yeah, Julie is one of those characters I can't stand. Her, Maggie, and Anna - the meddling Mother Hens of Salem. God, even Satan couldn't kill her, but when Julie fell down those stairs, it was priceless. I just laughed and laughed.

Just like you. The Julie i was introduced too. Was a sophisticated and glamourous high-powered businesswoman. Not a borderline racist woman. Wearing  mumu's from the Helen Roper collection. I liked her romances with Vic and Chip. As well Julie being a surrogate mom to Eve, Faith and Molly.

Nothing says that Sonny or Will can't connect with a woman either.

I don't think RC would ever go there. With female characters, yeah. But male characters, no chance.

Well, Will's already been with a ... okay a girl. Been there, done that, found another path.

I liked that Julie a lot.  Like others have said she was a take charge business women that looked like she had traveled the World on cruises and was used to the finer things, but also had a caring heart.  I actually enjoyed her flirtation with Victor and didn't really miss Doug at all (although I am unsure what Bill was doing at the time to prevent him from returning)

Exactly.  There is a disconnect in her acting and actions, but also her wardrobe and overall style.  Obviously, wardrobe and styling is a problem across the board for this show.  Julie to me, though, is someone who would be glamorous in her late 70's and 80's.  I don't mind Doug/Julie living in the Horton house, but I think Jennifer is much more right for it.  Doug/Julie would care about the house, but live in a fancy penthouse/townhome in my mind.

Totally agree with everything.  I also see Julie and Doug living in a lavish penthouse/townhouse too. Like the one Julie lived in back in the early 90's.  But since Days so poor. They placed them at the Horton home. Which i don't mind.

Well, I think the thing with Julie is that she just kinda pops up where ever or whenever she's needed for a couple of one-liners. I can't think straight right off my head, but she's been judgemental towards those of their wrong-doings (that's not bigoted or anything), but she's more than willing to be a hypocrite and defend the impalpable actions by those considered to be a part of her "in-group". 😄

ot it.  They way Nancy/Mike met up at the end after that whole closure scene with Craig had me wondering lol.

I just cannot figure what they are doing staring at each other. Or why he was so stiff & moving awkwardly.

I dearly love to see my FB Memories. This shows me what I was saying about DOOL a year ago.

I cannot abide the devil in Salem. I just sit here & grind my teeth. Thank goodness GH is actually good right now.

Yeah, it's not a big problem or anything, but it doesn't seem fitting for two people who traveled the world for years and do have lots of money.

Julie has said some pretty problematic things especially some racist remarks to Gabi, which is really unnecessary because Gabi was the villian in that situation.  I feel like Julie's very valid points get very muddied when sprinkled with insensitive remarks for "comedic" value.

The only time I did laugh at one of Julie's one-liners to Bonnie was back in the early 2000s:

Julie (to Bonnie): "Well, I see the rotten little apple didn't fall very far from the twisted little tree!"

YAAAAAS! 😁

I thought the same. It's like they hired a guy who was never in front of a camera before.
