I don't get why B&B can't just run six or so storylines  that run at least 6-9 months, instead of rushing through about two simultaneous show consuming plots for three months straight, having a dull period, then moving on to another.

For example $ Bill warring with Justin for control of Spencer Publications would still be going on if written properly.

I didn't make Paris out to be a player, I wonder what direction they're going to take the character in next?

The really bad pacing is especially bizarre because 30-min shows abroad do just fine balancing stories and always have a A-story climaxing while B-story is progressing and C-story is being set up.

THAT being said, I think it has to do with the production model. For the balance I see in foreign soaps to work you need to be able to have characters come popping in an episode for one 2-min scene here and a 5-min scene there until the crux of the story gets you full time.
US production model - both in terms of scheduling shoots on certain days for each actor AND being paid by episode - means it doesn't make financial sense. Each episode cast needs to be small and pre-set which is why we get a lot of repetitive dialogue and scenes.

Both in terms of contract - letting actors take on other projects while being willing to come back to the show -, in terms of how they schedule and film scenes and the payment structure, they would be to rethink everything to give themselves more leeway to write things differently

That's a good point. They shoot 8 shows a week and it probably makes more financial sense to have the same actors come in all week and keep the same sets standing. It makes for an extremely boring and repetitive show but ya know $$$.

Oddly it seems to work? Moreso the first one which appears to be a rustic ladder in the background. The second one not sure about the yellow tape. But overall the "background" works for me, in a cheap, creative way I suppose, would like to see more. Yes, that is one way to save money!

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
