I was wondering how Bellamy Young fit into this...

Spoiler

She's the vengeful ex wife and mother of three of the children, who got her families land "stolen". Very soapy indeed.

Not impressed. This is the last new primetime soap this season.

That's too bad. I DVR it but haven't watched it yet. It has a Falcon Crest vibe.

Well, I liked it. The pilot was a lot of set-up though and they sent out the first two episodes to critics (episode 2 is also getting an early premiere on Hulu today), so I assume they feel a lot better about episode 2.

Also, what is it with gay boys always siding with their villainous mother?

I liked it as well.  I'm just hoping it doesn't get too preachy about immigration.  I'm here for the soap and I'll stay for the soap.

Not sure the lead male is ideal for me but we'll see.

I really liked it as well. The last fifteen mins or so were the best as things came together. Lots of "soapy drama" set ups for future eps.. I hope it does well. There's potential. That's more than I could have said after watching some of the other premieres.

BTW...I might be biased because Scandal is a top 3 show of all-time for me. I love me some Mellie!

Talk about sour grapes. In the latest TV show ratings, ABC’s Promised Land premiered to barely 1.9 million total viewers and a 0.2 demo rating, well below the lowest numbers that The Good Doctor ever did (3.6 mil and a 0.4) in the time slot this fall.

Promised Land has potential. It isn't generic and bland like most of the network tv shows. It definitely belongs on a streaming service. Don't see this lasting on ABC. It's a bit slow. But the show does a nice job setting everything up. The flashbacks worked very well. I like the Falcon Crest vibes with a Spanish flavor to it. Mateo is so cute.😍

Yeah, I mean, at least Promised Land makes Queens look good, but the producers should start talks about moving this to Hulu asap because it's not going to survive on ABC.
